Finally! This has been a known component of domestic abuse cases for years. I know of a case where the woman did feel able to leave her situation until she found someone to shlter her dog while she went to a shelter (that did allow pets).

Finally! Animal abuse has been a known component of domestic abuse cases for years. I personally know of a case where the woman did feel able to leave her situation, until she found someone willing to shelter her dog. Then she was able to go to a shelter (that did not allow pets)

The "three abuses" are very often found together: child abuse, spousal abuse, and animal abuse. Sociologists, psychologist and policing agencies have known this a while, and the greater the awareness of the public, the less tolerance these behaviours will enjoy.
