Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are meeting to remove state protection of the Florida Black Bear and their cubs. Hunting of the subspecies was banned in 1994.

Dear Commission members,

I urge you not to remove state protection of the Florida Black Bear. Hunting of this indigenous subspecies should remain banned especially as this bear population faces even more pressures on its population numbers than in 1994 due to greater habitat destruction in Florida as a result of more development and increased motor vehicle accidents as a result of greater numbers of people in Florida.
