Dr. Kirkendall should be applauded for denying the callous request that Pat C Rasputin be killed simply for being a boy. At the same time, this is a sad example of how dog race promoters put personal profit ahead of animal welfare.

I hate greyhound racing. The way the pups are bred - the females are warehoused in often substandard breeding facilities, and the dogs are treated like chattel to just earn the owners money. It is a shameful enterprise.

greyhounds are killed when they are no longer wanted for racing. i have friends that adopt retired greyhounds and the stories they tell are horrendous.
