On Friday, 28 December at least 3 whaling vessels left Japan for the Southern Ocean. The Australian government has strongly condemned the annual Japanese whale hunt. It is, however, refusing to send one of its own vessels to bear witness

This is typical of our useless government, they don't give a rat's arse about the whales. It's left to people like Captain Paul Watson and all the Sea Shepherd volunteers to put their lives on the line to protect the whales which is what the spineless IWC should be doing. Words are not enough, action is needed! Good luck to all the Sea Shepherds who are down in antarctica right now waiting for the murdering whalers.S&IN thanks Simone.

i see saving whales as more than just saving these species. i see it as showing humans have the resolve to save anything. if we allow species as intelligent, large, and magnificent as whales to disappear i don't see much hope for any life on this earth.

'I was outraged when, on the morning of February 16, I heard on the news that a Japanese whaling vessel had ventured into the Australian Antarctic Territory and proceeded to spear a whale in direct breach of an Australian Federal Government order, before ramming the Australian Anti-Whaling vessel. I urge you to please reconsider your decision against sending out another vessel.'
