I took the Pledge, I am happy to hear that this horrific practice has come to an end in Iceland, I hope other countries will follow suit. There is no reason to kill these majestic mammals.

I strongly believe that only indigenous peoples such as the Eskimos should be the only ones to hunt whales. They don't kill more than what they need (one, two whales?). Not a piece is wasted and all is shared by the entire village. They do not do it for commercial purposes, to make money they do it for survival as well as to keep their culture alive. Too many other cultures have faded and been lost over time.

Commercial whaling is a horrid, cruel practice that needs to be snuffed out. I have never seen a whale in real life, but would love to. I am sick of seeing pictures of whales being slaughtered in mass numbers for money. If you've ever seen a documentary on such you'd understand. *Shudders*

I actually have a problem with all whale hunters, but out of respect for indigenous people's rights, would never protest if they are the only ones hunting. Pleased that the market does not make whaling profitable!
