Aerial gunners in Alaska have killed more than 600 wolves since 2003. Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin wants to offer $150 bounties to encourage hunters to kill more wolves. Even worse, Idaho and Wyoming have proposed aerial gunning programs of their own,

There it is - the classic picture that puts an end to the theory on White Supremacy. The idiot looks just how I imagined he would look.

I was in Alaska in '85 during the winter (although it was March). I had a friend who was a bush pilot and took the opportunity to see and fly over this awesome country. It was a place called the Brooks Range and many people chartered planes to go ice fishing and hunting. I met some of these folks, but you could always spot a wolf hunter a mile away. They were loud, obnoxious and crude. They were not sportsmen or anything near that. They were as depicted in Disney's movie "Never Cry Wolf". If you ever want to understand these magnificent creatures, watch that movie. In my opinion it should be required in upper elementary classes. Children need to learn about nature and the ecosystem and learn to respect it. It also depicts the wolf hunter for the low-life he is. There is no more room in this world for trophy hunters and those who kill wolves to get the ruff for a winter jacket. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Already signed at least two others this is so sad. One of the reasons that Buffalo's disappeared it was considered sport to shoot them from a moving train in the 1800's. The Buffalo that provided a source of food clothing to Native Americans. They would only kill what they needed to sustain themselves. Killing Native Americans who taught us how to live on this continent was sport as well. We still should always feel that shame.

He looks so proud doesn't he ? I'd like to have seen him go up against that poor beautiful creature without the gun! Bet that goofy smile wouldn't be there. Nor the dry spot in his crotch area.

Sure, and it takes a BIG man to shoot and kill an animal. I'm with Frank, sometimes I'm ashamed to be a guy.
Animals should be shot with cameras...never with firearms.
Thanks, Somine.

Judy Elliott, having ties to Alaska myself, I appreciate your comments although I have to add that it isn't just the wolf hunters that you could spot a mile away, although they seem particularly obnoxious. because of the wonderful wildlife and all the damn hunting, the state attracts wealthier "big game hunters" who come in spend their money and act like they own all of God's green earth.

And Thunderr Wolf, I agree with you also, now that would be a picture!

The Game and Fish tries to convince the world that hunting keeps the balance of nature. Blatant B.S. of course. Nature balances better without mankind's interference.

I wish it was open season on Wolf hunters.......Never in my life could I understand how someone could aim a gun at an innocent animal and move one finger a quarter of an inch and end a life!!!!! Pretty sickening thought and they do it over and over. The s**t eating smile on this poor excuse for a man, while posing for a photo with the life he just ended makes me want to remove that smile, teeth and all....Grrrrrrrrrr.
Noted, thank you Simone
