I am furious! I tell you furious!! That is not man and dog.....those are two troopers, best friends, they fought together! They belong together. I'm so mad I can't type anything else or it will be full of cuss words. We need a petition and I have no idea how to create one. If you care about this too and know how would you start one?
I'll help the best I can.

Thank you for posting this - Any body know the best way to help?
A petition sounds good but isn't there a time crunch here?
In the meantime I am going to forward this to the news media.

Thanks Simone for posting the story.Lucky, thank you for getting the word out. I most certainly think we should create a petition. I would gladly do it but to be honest with you, I dont know how. I have many people on my friends list that are way smarter than me and I will forward this story to them with a message. How heartless can the military be? What this young man is asking for is should be given to him without question. I agree with him, there are probably more service dogs to come and he could be the one that helps the military open their eyes. I really hate this war!

Charles, so sad and true -- it seems that citizens are considered "disposable" by this government.

This is b.s. he put his life on the line for this country and this is how he is repaid??? The governement is so backwards sometimes with their employees. They think that this is just another "pet" but she is more than that, she is giving him some love and reassurance to recover and not go into total dispare and not wanting to continue living. He is only 19 and this is how our kids are having to deal with life's horrible issues that no child should have to live. Noted and Thanks for the story.

Noted earlier, #4. Here we have a young man who lost his legs because of fighting in a war and he can't have his service dog ! What a screwed up country we have. They are all a bunch of idiots. I am writing everyone I can think of on this one. I'll check and see if I signed. Thanks Simone.

Thanks Simone for updating us on this sad state of affairs. How can people be so heartless. I guess their heart is really made of stone. At least they should be grateful to what the young boy has done in serving his country. This is no way to repay him when he is now disabled - and that too through no fault of his. My prayers are with Adrian and I fervently hope that the medical field with all it's high tech can do something for his legs so that he is normal again.

Seems to me there was something similar last year about a female soldier and her dog, who served together and were hurt while searching for a bomb in Iraq. The Humane Society stepped in and made it happen....the President if I remember correctly opposed as he stated the dog "belonged to the government" and needed to continue serving his time! Signed petiton....thanks for posting Simone and for forwarding Elle.

Thursday September 13, 2007 2:10pm Truly i am appauled at the way our valient men and women of our countries military are treated after having there lives completely torn apart with a devistating injury. We some how give this brave soldier a way to help him cope with all the torments that he must live with forever, in a beutiful companion ( whether it be a dor, rabbit gineine pig hampster or whet not) and them when he has found a true friend as we all know a dog truly is for life we up and say you cant have this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this how our country has become so unfeeling to our brave and heroic men and women that after something so devastating we can no longer show compasion and love. For are we or not one nation under GOD and all his love. Itruly from the bottom of my heart wish this soldier as all a LOVE FILLED LIFE11111111111111111111111111111

Believe me, I was in the military for 20 years (retired) and there were numerous things I never understood. This dog probably saved this man's life because I know how close a loving person can get to a dog especially. If they take this dog from him, it will cost him possibly hundreds of dollars to get another service dog. Not only will PFC Garcia grieve for the dog but the dog will grieve for him. For crying out loud, someone with some sense intervene and help the man keep the dog. We should make sure this gets as much media attention as it can get. Trust me, the military will change their minds.
