In the same way that a smoker may justify his habit by saying that the polluted air in a typical city means breathing is equivalent to smoking a pack a day, these workers in these animal shelters may say that so many billions of cows, hogs and chickens are killed for meals and nearly a million civilians have been killed in Iraq so why the big hew and cry about these pets. I completely disagree with this kind of thinking but in my effort to encourage people to become vegetarians I hear this kind of rationale offered again and again.

I have been working on the bird murders in the park adjacent to my apt with the aspca and also the feral cat extermination at port authority. this rendering is another shameful statement of the inhumane unempathetic greedy mindset that pervades humanity. does this go on in every state do we know?
the same respect should be shown animals , birds as humans in burial .
this is like the film soylent green which freaked me out will we be rendering humans next???????????????

I cannot understand why MOST of the world isn't in the know about this CRAP! Sorry but I join the ranks of those that wish some HUMANS to be sent to Disposal Plants. But even at that I still don't want to smear Grandma Betty on my lips or any parts there of! The govt. should be the whistle.blower for the citizens. And the govt. should join in forces for the Spay/neuter. I have signed petitions for other countries to consider putting an action of sorts into effect.......But why not USA?
SOPHIA I too weep with pain,, sometimes I dismiss myself from Care2 for a sanity break. But I am not gone long before I have to be return for the animals sake any animal SARVO.

They also put parts not suitable for human consumption into pet food(cancer ridden tissues,..etc.).
I certainly hope no one gets a profit from this,... as that would add a horrible twist to the eagerness to put pets down in shelters.

and the nightmares keep coming out of the closet. had no idea pets were 'rendered' into other products, including by-products in pet food. the choices are getting easier as more brands are eliminated from my shopping lists. and going 'organic' a few years ago is growing into more products to switch too.

I am just soooooo thankful that on the Pawfect Match adoption day in February, I rescued my beautiful German Shepherd Misha from the South LA Shelter....my friend emailed me and told me she had been scheduled for euthanization that following week....I have had her now for 9 months of pure joy and love....she is a wonderful 2 1/2 year old female and I cannot imagine her ending up in a pile as trash in anyone's rendering facility....since I live in LA, I am contacting my rescue associates to see if there is anything we can do to put a stop to this horrid practice....thank you for making me aware of this......

Shameful, criminal, unconscionable, unthinkable! Let's all boycott the mainstream petfoods, as their "by-products" are apparently what we've read about here. I already switched to "Newman's Own" cat food, & I'll throw out my IAMS & Purina. My wonderful cat loves her new brand of healthier, & now I see, cruelty-free food. When will such cruelness stop?!! I am glad that those brave photographers got documentation of this tragedy. It's beyond heartbreaking to see, but it needs to be stopped. We need to confront cosmetics co's as well, & candy co's ( makers of "gummy" type candy). Maybe if we all send out some love & light to these poor mistreated
animals it will bring a little comfort their way.

This is revolting. I just emailed all my friends and sent them a link to this article - and asked them to switch to a vegan, cruelty-free brand of makeup. Hopefully, if we all do our small part, this disgusting, base practice will someday be eliminated. As far as pet food goes - everyone who loves their pets should be feeding them the best pet food possible anyway. I feed my cats Wellness canned food. It's really no surprise to me. I buy organic dog food for my dog that is made here in the USA with no by-products and I make his treats that he eats. I would never have my dog eat otherwise. His health is as important as mine. That's just the way I see it. It is sick that this goes on.......would hate to live anywhere near there. There's no telling what I might do. Noted, thanks!

I am getting sick and tired of people dumping their pets as if they were garbage!!!! Would they dump their children when they get sick of them? I think if you get a pet you should take care of them like if it were your child. Someone one just dumped their old pet at my door. It is real old and can barely walk. I dont want to take him to a shelter cause i know they will kill him. Here is the problem. The dog cleans himself on my rug like 5 times a day and i have to clean it fast. I rent so i cant remove the rugs. I feel real bad. I wish i had all wood floors!

that is disgusting, it's one thing for a animal to be a carnivore, however it's unnatural to be a cannibal. How soon before you see mad cow type of disease in pets. For this is why the disease originated in the cows. We are truely turning into the destructors of the world. It's never been more important to have your pets spayed or neutered.

I read this!! I am not shocked at all. Why are you shocked? Animal cruelty and abuse never ends, not even after the poor animal has died. People are screwed up, and if a dollar is involved this kind of stuff will continue. You know a profit is being made, or this would not be happening. Sick, sick world we live in.
