In a protected north Florida forest, 1,700 gopher tortoises are getting a second chance at life. The threatened creatures--some more than 60 years old--could have been crushed by bulldozers and buried alive under shopping malls and roads across Florida

That video was very interesting Simone! I never knew tortoises burrowed so deeply in the ground! Twelve feet! Thankfully the Humane Society has gotten permission to go in and excavate, saving these tortoises and bringing them to a new home, before the actual building took place!

Give me a break. Leftists are screaming about the 'rights' of illegal aliens, which is contributing to population, growth and development out of control. If there were no illegal aliens coming into America, not only would growth and development stop, it would reverse and you would begin to see wilderness. There would be less petroleum, gas, coal and nuclear as well as less pollution.

As Ross Perot pointed out in 1992, NAFTA meant the sound of jobs sucking south. The Mexican economy has suffered because of NAFTA - the average Mexican is worse off since 1992.

I have made the personal commitment to family planning, I have no children and plan on one child and adoption.

It has only been in the past few decades that growth and development have altered the planet - we are running out of water.

As long as population continues to explode, people have to live somewhere, and that means destroying habitat.

I think we have more than enough in the way of shopping malls and roads.
