We join this puppy to the left (available for adoption) in congratulating our President-elect and his family. But now down to business. The Obama kids have been asking for a dog for a long time, and now they're apparently going to get one. We think

What Puppy Should the Obamas Get?
Weigh In on What Dog Barack Obama Should Bring to the White HousePresident-Elect Barack Obama's getting ready to move his family to the White House. During his victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago Tuesday night, he promised his daughters, Malia and Sasha, a gift they're surely going to expect on move-in day: a new puppy. Done. Actually I did it twice and told them to get each girl a shelter puppy
and save two lives. (Ran into a problem and reposted and they both came
up.) Gee, 4 puppies wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Thanks Simone.

I had heard the question asked of President-Elect Obama that one of his daughter's has allergies and any future pet, must be hypoallergenic because of Malia's allergies.

OMG, I thought he had promised this!
I'm sure they can find a rescue dog that is 'hypoallergenic.' Why would they promise a kid a dog if she could not tolerate it?

Obama stated that he wants a shelter dog. However one of his children has an allergy problem. Hopefully they will be able to work this out.

They want to get a shelter dog, but Malia has allergies, so the dog has to by hypoallergenic. It sounds like it will all depend on whether or not they can find one of these dogs that fits in well with the family at a shelter.

Why a dog? I love dogs, but why can't the Obamas have a shelter cat or two?

You are so right Dan. I agree totally, a few shelter cats would be good too.
