In a move that I have strongly recommended, Barack Obama appointed Rick Cordray, Elizabeth Warren’s choice, to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). He also appointed three new members to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Republicans have been obstructing all of those appointments, because they want neither consumers nor labor represented federally despite laws that provide for both. Republicans are furious!

Man, the Republicans, are whining and crying about this, so you know the President did the right thing...This is what they get for obstructing everything he's tried to do for almost 4 years now...It's funny to me, now they're screaming and yelling and threatening to take him to Court...But what he did is absolutely legal, and I remember all too well, Bush doing this same exact thing several times when he was President, but then the Republicans were all for it...So to them, I say Too Bad, and shut the F**K up...It's your own fault...

It's nice to see O act like a president - a little late, but nice - election year? Nice - since he's still on probation as far as I'm concerned - this helps appease my grumpy mind!

I was not surprised at all. Obama went out of his way, was and did lose alot by trying to show us that working together is the only way to work important issues. All the while the republians answer was NO NO NO NO. I am personally sad that the republains are so far gone with greed and power we have to resort to this. I say so what the republians are screming foul on Obama. With all there huffing and puffing and they are no more than a tick that Obama can flick them off his shoulder. Obama was never weak and always a leader. Now the republians will see and so will the rest of us. I am not sure this should be a time of celebrations or great sadness. Yes alot of democrats are cheering but are forgetting this was never about who can throw the best shot but how we can solve our problems together.

Lee, he flunked off the probie list a long time ago. Let's watch XL and not forget NADA, etc.

It is sad to see our government have to resort to more political theater in order to function. Obama's little speech was vile, divisive and not at all "Presidential".

All I can say at this point is.....about frikken time, Mr. Prez. Ya coulda done this for Elizabeth Warren but noooooooooooo more important to play nice with reticulate pythons. In any case better late than never. At least we got someone that Ms. Warren hand picked for the position. As far as the reticulates pissing, moaning and whining......get the **** over it, ya lost one (ok 4) and Dubya put how many in while the congress was recessed? HMMMMMMMMM????? And they were just FINE with that. Obama is within his rights to do this, so go sulk in your corners and figure out what brand new (old, tired) schemes you reticulates will use to get your way next session. Maybe, just maybe, Mr Prez will still have his pair affixed then and give y'all a little more somethin-somethin instead of bending over for ya. I hope so anyway.

Obama is right on this. The party of NO has dug it's heels in on EVERY nomination made by Obama. We need to vote against these ultra right wingers at election time. What ever happened to "moderate" republicans who at times were at least willing to cooperate once in a while? Their party has been taken over by Wall Street greed (Kochroach Brothers etc.). When will majority of the public wake up and realizes that the Greedy Old Pork (GOP) party DOES NOT HAVE THE INTERESTS OF THE 99% on their miserable agenda?

OBAMA 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way we can go backwards now, we can't afford it.

Although I agree that there should be an appt sooner than later to this post, No President has the right to circumvent the constitution:

From: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-flouting-article-2-section-2-constitution-i-refuse-take-no-answer

We should all be very careful about pushing for the President to have this much power, rather than the people through Congress!

President Obama should have ran Campaign 2008 upon 'Circumvention', rather than on a bold-face lie such as 'Transparency' !!!

"Obama Chooses Politics Over Principle In Naming Cordray" @ Bloomberg

His presidential actions continue to be questionable at best.

This is the way I like seeing President Obama operate. Take the bull by the horns. And for the Republicans in congress..... they only give a damn about themselves and B.C. (Big corporation).

it's just another of obama's sneak around the law tactics. we will never get rid of him now that he's signed into law nada. he'll have anybody that doesn't do what he wants locked up and the key thrown away. get that man out, get the congress and senate out and repeal nada. he's also sneaking around the back door to remove our guns. unarmed, locked up for any reason, we might as well be north korea. he'll have us celebrating his illegal re-election hat and gloveless next. he's not for open government he's for anything to give obama all.

Thank goodness! Republicans really are using whining as their only tactic now. They refuse to work with Obama on ANYTHING so when he finally takes drastic actions to do whatever it takes to save the average American in any way, shape, or form they instantly complain that he's not playing fair. Like they ever did. They're so pathetic. I really hope the upcoming elections result in a lot of these party-centered Republicans kicked out by their constituents.

Yeah!!!! When the repuglicons won't play by the rules and do what the majority want you need to do this...even if they cry, its what they would do if they were in the opposite situation.....good for Mr. Obama hope the courage keeps increasing!!!!

Although I’m generally disappointed with the performance of President Obama on any number of points, a list far too lengthily for this posting. However those disappointments get tempered by the recognition of the significant factors with which his term has been hamstrung. Namely the vehement obstacles imposed by an obviously racially motivated segment of the Legislative branch. Who refuses to do anything that would serve to move the process forward, if it favors the 99%. This article represents this point as clearly as anything could, the reason for having to make an appointment with the Senate in recess. And then we have the right wing stacked Judicial branch that has done its utmost to blowup the rails of democracy at every opportunity. Not withstanding the underlying understanding that nothing but nothing happens in DC that is not manipulated and influenced by politics and the overpowering inducements of the Corporatist funded Lobbyist, outnumbering Legislators 25 to 1. I think it will take a lot of Occupying to make any real changes in how the severely broken government operates currently. And I believe nothing but nothing will move things off the dime of do nothing politics short of a General Strike. An action too many brain dead, brain washed Americas are shit their pants terrified into do nothing statuesque thinking to participate, for fear of retaliation from the Job Creators, the enemy at whom it would be directed.
Until the rest of America aborts its permanent stance of rectal cranial inversion Occupy something. Oh ship is that excessively redundant on my part, so sorry. I keep hoping if I say it enough someone will get off their asses and make a sign and stand in front of a bank, gas station or other polluting Criminal Corporation or a street corner or attend a city or county counsel meeting. Who knows, miracles do happen, and who knows what spurs them into action short of a bullet bounding off their head to get it, they are under attack.

Thanks, Tom! Oh, oh, is Mr. Obama going to make Boehner cry? I hope so! and once again the Republicans don't want to be confused by facts! Go Mr. President! Now make them cry again and tell them their disgusting push for the Keystone is gonna backfire on them, too.... Not enough time...Rejected!

TomCat, I sent you an email about this, but looks like I get to make a comment tonight. I am so happy O did this, and would like to see Mitch McConnell cry as well as Boehner.

Tom Cat --- "Their only alternative is to support a suit by financial predators against the American people."

Well wouldn't that just put the Republican/Teabaggers at the bottom of a very deep well! Glug! Glug!! Let them stay there! And supporting a suit by financial predators against the American people will not look good on a Republican/Teabagger's résumé.

Mr Obama said earlier that recess appointments were an option so the Republican/Teabaggers were aware. Additionally, by saying they wouldn't confirm anyone in the CFPB directorship even though a majority voted for it, is clear evidence of obstruction and partisan politics. How John Boehner can say with a straight face that the Republican/Teabaggers have tried to work with the president, is pure. US Government Grade A bullshit!

So if Baby Bush made 171 recess appointments during his terms, and Reagan made over 243, and Teddy Roosevelt made 160 in one day, what is the issue with Mr Obama doing the same 29 times? Answer, he IS NOT A REPUBLICAN/TEABAGGER! and the Republican/Teabaggers have publically declared to make Mr Obama a one term president.

What happens if it goes to SCOTUS and the injustices? Is it possible to force deliberation before the election? With 5 Injustices, can the potential suit be railroaded through?

Whether this is a political move or a policy move --- either way, it is right for the American people.

I’m tired of their whining. They should have been in session and then they couldn’t complain.

If he hadn’t done this the RepublicanTs would have stalled until the agency without a leader would cease to exist before it even got off the ground to protect comsumers.
