Romney is not worried about the effect of his words, he thinks the "crown" is his.

"Private schools are just that Ė private and should be paid for by the families who send their kids there. Teacherís unions need to be reviewed however because there are a lot of bad teachers out there who have tenure and canít be fired. "
I remember when I was in elementary school, there were frequently school inspectors coming around, sitting in the back of classrooms and observing. They were watching teaching methods, teacher/student interactions, student engagement, and looking for any signs of trouble and how it was handled. The inspector also looked at student marks and report cards. This obstensibly was the teacherís report card. Is this done anymore? Definitely the bad apples need to be weeded out. Nobody is entitled to a job if they are not performing well, regardless their tenure. That should happen in any business, union or non-union.

"The best and smartest kids I know were all home schooled......"

Don't get out much do you, John.

If that was considered 'mean' then I apologize.....BUT....most people I know that were, or are, the best and smartest weren't home-schooled. And some of the most backward, ignorant, how-do-you-manage-to-function-in-the-modern-world folks I have had the misfortune to know have been home-schooled or went to 'Christian Academies'. I am not saying that all home-schooled are that way, just every one of them I have come across were.

obviously didn't open mr. romney's mind enough (or mr. santorum's, mr. gingrich's, mr. boehner's, etc)....

actually the best and smartest kids I know are public & private schooled.....wide range of qualities in our public schools, sometimes you have to look out for them.....most of the kids I know who are home schooled were done for (a) parents religious or political beliefs, (b) behaviorial issues and belief that school was either too tough on their child or not touch enough on others, and (c) health reasons...........yet to meet any home schooler that I think has learned how to interact well with peers and show compassion to the general public....too often they have become too selfish and or self-centered since they are constantly the focus of the school.....

Parents should be tested before being allowed to home shool their children. How can someone with a GED education homeschool children. I believe it is for religious and political motivation that they don't want their children exposed to society. It's much easier to brainwash a child that does not have any contact with other ideas.

I am not at all surprised that Romney admits to union busting. The only home schooled children I have known were socially backward and had a very difficult time transitioning to classes with other people in college. And yes, TC, the teachers have been teaching for the "test" since No Child Left Behind. My sister taught for 27 eyars before retiring to care for her disabled husband. She hated the last ten years because she was unable to teach anything not on the test, all her creativity was stifled. And yes, they do still have people who monitor teachers work. In our area, they are often teachers who were removed from the class room for some reason, but were connected with the administration who kept them a job. Patronage is alive and well.

Just wait awhile and Romney will reverse his stand. He is so good at "changing his mind" on almost every issue. Of course, it may take until the General Election for him to recant.

I am so sick of hearing the anti-social statements by this ignorant Romney. He is clueless and dangerous. Just keep reminding everyone about his poor abused doggie, and make them come to their senses!

The problem with unions is that it tends to be the laziest and most worthless employees who become the union reps for their workplace. They often do it as a way of getting out of work or to protect themselves. Once they infiltrate the union, they spend all there time an energy manipulating the rules, such as the absurd tenure rule. I am part of a union and 100% pro-union, they made this country great and are the last thing still fighting to save what little is left of our middle class. But we do need to have a major positive PR campaign to revive what the 30+ year Reagan war on unions has done to decimate unions and their view in the general public. And one way to start is to purge all the dead weight that is holding them down and make it possible to remove employees who are a negative influence on the workplace. We need to remove the stigma of unions so they do once again attract the best and brightest employees to want to work for them. Because as long as we keep protecting them, we will ALL lose.

What a disaster it will be if somehow this idiot Romney becomes our President. We already had 8 years of a bumbling idiot, Bush, and we don't need someone nearly as stupid back in the White House.

What is strange is that this is all the libertarian model of yester year post ww2. we laughed when Rick Perry had a gaffe and couldnit remember if he won what he would cut. One being education. Government is too big they all say on that platform.
All cut from the same mold.
America is being systematically over thrown. Put Romney in and he will show us the Bain capital way how he is to finish us off. The same with the rest of them. ZGo to any libertarian site and read what they stand for. The end of America is what they stand for. Look At Romney he looks the part and he has no shame. He will gladly tell you who and what matters to him, when he wants to admit it. That one action is constant. Look for it. but of course; I am preaching to the choir.
