The love and tolerance of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians never ceases to boggle my mind, not only do to the level of hatred that they spew so regularly, but also the manner in which they insist that some Old Testament piety codes be followed to the letter, while completely ignoring others in the same Biblical context.

noted with disgust for the GOP

This is revolting - that man has no religion and not much in the way of brains either. But then I have always felt the biggest homophobes were actually gay and afraid to say so....

alrighty then...I can see it is time for gays and lesbians to arm themselves in self defense.

There are people that are absolutely crazy and dangerous that have every intention to hurt you.

This is just crazy. Arielle, I think you got it absolutely right.

Arielle...wouldn't it be fun to strap them into a chair and make them watch gay porn? I'd like to see what comes up.

What a terrible hateful thought. Very Unchristian. :(

Pam, you little devil, you! Loved your comment! I think we all know what would "come up." And I think they'd want to wear their black leather police hats and sleeveless leather vests to enhance their viewing experience.

Thanks for the post, Tom, and for your always great comments! I also appreciate the great wit that is always abundant in Pam and Arielle's comments. Hope I'm able to send all of your stars!

Okay, that's enough.

I know you Americans are rightly fond of your right to free speech. But advocating that someone should be killed for their sexuality is way beyond free speech. Can this be legal? How do we get this man fired to put a stop to him and all the others that will surely follow?

A final thought. This is a Baptist pastor. How would we be feeling if exactly the same words had been said by an Islamist?

As I was reading this, a thought came to mind. This yahoo, Pastor Curtis Knapp, says "...there is simply nothing other than the holocaust of the unborn which imperils the safety of our country ..." which of couse is about abortion. This idiot would outlaw abortion only to turn around and kill members of the LGBT community that might have been part of the saved unborn.

God created people in God's likeness --- blonde or brunette, blue eyes or brown, fat or thin, short or tall, homosexual or heterosexual --- no matter, all are created in God's image. Being gay is not a learned behaviour that can be prayed away or washed away. God loves wondrous variety!

A 'convention of convenience'? Let's talk about the convention of convenience employed by these fanatical rightwing nut religious zealots. How convenient that this Pastor doesn't honour all of the rules of Leviticus including those rules about lying with a woman, presumably his wife, when she is ritually unclean during her monthly courses. Or as TC has highlighted ... Leviticus also imposes the death penalty for eating shellfish (11:10) and cutting the hair from the temples (19:27). Exodus demands the death penalty for working on Saturday (35:2). Has Pastor Knapp done any of those, and if so, when will he be presenting himself for execution?

If one interprets the Bible literally, the meaning is lost. For example, working on a Saturday is a no-no. So Pastor Knapp, no more Saturday weddings or funerals because that means you are working on the designated Sabbath! But for the Jews of the Hebrew Scripture aka Old Testament, the Sabbath was Saturday. For Christians, the Sabbath is Sunday.

I am a Christian, and I find this bigotry and hate intolerable. This Pastor Knapp is a pseudo Xtian, one that twists all meaning to his own convenience --- FUBAR!

@ Roger --- Interesting final thought! How would Pastor Knapp be feeling if this very same thing was said by a Muslim Imam?

Some evangelical went to africa and planted that kill seed. Now they have the balls to say kill here.

My thought is you fool... You have just now opened the door for people to start killing, anyone they don't agree with. Including you know who. How dumb can you be?

Isn't it wonderful though that good "Christian" preachers can scream "Kill the infildels!"..uhm, I mean.."Kill the gays"..without being thought of as the Sharia Law Terrorists that they truly are?? America is SO special!;)

Pastor Curtis Knapp is not alone. I have recently signed a Care2 Petition,
Titled "Pastor Calls For Concenmation Camp For Gays". Sponsored by: Human
Rights Campaign, for North Carolina Pastor Charles Worley.
He wants to round up Lesbians and Homosexuals Nazi style and lock them up in a large gated camp and starve them.

I don't care if anyone is gay/lesbian. It is none of my business
as long as they do not influence me about my own sexuality.
These people do not bother anyone at all.....Leave them be!!

I'd sign that petition Patricia if you can give the link to it, I tried to find it but couldn't.

Well I think Yvonne White's comment hit the nail on the head for me. These so called Pastors and other type of clergy must be reading the Satanic Bible for they certainly have missed the part about their God being one of love.

This idiot is not a true pastor. He needs to read 1 Corinthians 13, the rest of the Bible is nothing buy rewritten pagan myths and parables.

Actually, this guy's comments sound like terroristic threats to me. Aren't those illegal?

That pastor is not a man of God but one of Satan's minions and an instigator that is doing nothing but stirring up strife which goes against the teachings of the bible.

I haven't heard any "authentic Christian" leaders speaking out against Curtis Knapp's message. Now is probably the time for them to do so.

Thanks to all. My one disappointment here is that no Canadian has agreed to be my property, as Leviticus allows.

Have there ever been more deaths or persecutions from any cause that comes close to that done in the name of religion, including Christianity?

If the headline were inverted to read "Gays: Kill the GOP Pastors", the gays would be declared terroists. Will the same be done with the GOP Pastors. Not likely!

"Isn't it wonderful though that good "Christian" preachers can scream "Kill the infildels!"..uhm, I mean.."Kill the gays"..without being thought of as the Sharia Law Terrorists that they truly are?? America is SO special!;) "

I concur Dandelion. Yvonne's comment hits the nail on the head.. Thank you Yvonne

If one follows the 10 Commandments they could not sanction this idea by this pastor who preaches with hate in his heart..

"That pastor is not a man of God but one of Satan's minions and an instigator that is doing nothing but stirring up strife which goes against the teachings of the bible" Thank you Robert..

"Hate" is as dangerous as the disease of "Gr$$d!" It conquers the human spirit and allows the negatives to overwhelm the positive..

First they will come for the LGBT communities......
Then they will come for the Muslims....
Then they will come for the Jews (the unconverted).....
Then they will come for the Catholics, the Methodists, the Lutherans....
Then they will come for the "brown-kinned" peoples....
Then they will come for the "yellow-skinned" peoples....
Then they will come for the "red-skinned" peoples.....
Then they will come for the abortionists.....
Then they will come for the women who had abortions....
Then they will come for the teachers, philosophers and scientists....
Then they will come for the environmentalists....
Then they will come for the Democrats, Progressives and Greens....

THEN THEY WILL COME FOR YOU.

Fascism is hand-in-hand with Nazism.

.And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. -Exodus 32:28

Killing in the name of religion has been a driving force throughout history. The killing referred to in Exodus 32:28 was done at the order of Moses, after he BROKE the tablets upon which the Commandments had been written. Even if one believes that the line, "Thou shalt not kill" should read as, ‘Thou shalt not murder" then Moses was still violating the Commandments himself. 3000 murdered at his command.

Beware those who do not see the hypocrisy in this. In the name of religion it was considered allowable to kill those with different beliefs.

We were taught that our country was founded by people that fled their own lands to escape persecution. Now we have our own brand of Levites, Worry about who they will follow.

For any of my friends I might offend with this, I apologize. This happens to be one of many things I take issue with in the Bible. TomCat S, hit on the pro slavery issue in Leviticus. This is how religion and governments were created by self serving bullies seeking power unto themselves. Anything that was seen as a threat to that power was demonized, persecuted, banished, or killed.

I saw an interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper and unfortunately didn't get the name of his guest. The person stated that he agreed with Cooper that if gays should be killed by bible teaching then so should children who disobey a parent...etc. He said the key to understanding all of this is just how the bible is used - do we take it as a guide or literally the word of a god? The bible is obsessed with sex. However, if one considers the time when the bible was written, particularly the old testament, it was used to control and expand the size of a tribe taking a unique journey to a monotheistic belief form. So we should expect that it would be obsessed with sex, that is the way to grow a group. There is no prohibition against lesbian sex, probably because it does not interfere with reproduction. If the authors of the bible were not acknowledging a common practice of what we now call homosexual behavior then it would not even have noted the practice. There is nothing new about humans being gay, only the current over reaction by some extremely radical preachers.

I think the worst part of this is the many churches who have said nothing to refute this hateful man. They are as guilty as he ! Evil does not require the actions of an evil man, but the inaction of good men.
