I have increasingly been hearing the claim that Barack Obama should have done much more, because he had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate at the same time Democrats controlled the House. Chris Wallace at the Republican Ministry of Propaganda, Fox, actually claimed that Obama had it for two full years. You can use that to fertilize your veggies!

It's shame that the Repugnant Party has never learned to tell the truth; as this article shows, the only thing they want is power and money - no matter what the cost.
Maybe Wallace was living on another planet for those 2 long years of bickering and fighting in both Houses of Congress. Then things got even worse, but Wallace does know, he and the gang of Propaganda Inc, were very busy creating a the image of that Muslim, Kenyan tribesman, that hates America, who wants nothing more than to destroy this country. That scary black man, that was duly elected as President of the United States, and has worked through all the endless bickering and fighting to still achieve some measure of fairness and restoration of a wrecked economy - wrecked not during his watch but somehow is blamed any way.

The GOP and it's propaganda Ministry (Faux Noise) are following Joseph Goebbels' line of thinking. Quote: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." The rest of the quote would very much apply if the GOP were in power: " The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” and that my dear friend scares me to no end and is just one the reasons I will be voting Democratic (as usual) in November.

I get that Most people believed the Democrats COULD have done much more in that first two years because they had a Majority - but it Wasn't that Magic Super-Majority that they claimed they NEEDED to get stuff done! "As Talking Points Memo observed, Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-MA) temporary replacement wasn’t sworn in until Sept. 24 of 2009, giving Democrats a filibuster-proof majority for four months and one week until Republican Scott Brown filled Kennedy’s seat after a special election."
But this just Proved the Democratic Party SHOULD have 1. Thrown out all the freakin' Blue Dogs, 2. Actually Repealed the Patriot Act & all the crap Bu$h Leaguers did, and 3. strong-armed the damn dipsticks who basically Lost them the 2010 election!
Giving people Back their Civil Rights would have short-circuited the TeaBagger Libertarians & prevented so much of the insanity that has oozed into MainstreamMedia!!!!!!!!

I was having a safe and fun day until I looked at the picture on your post.....any vote for an GOP candidate especially Robmey/RyAND is a vote for the past and faster destruction of the planet......therefore a wasted vote.......

The GOP in it's present form is a BIG LIABILITY for this country. To give them ANY more power would be a disaster for us all. This election they need a swift kick into reality. They have NOT EARNED any votes.

the GOP (greedy old pri*ks) and I might add all white men are about to take our country BACK back to the dark ages, They have the billionairs backing them for their own power and greed.
Unlees we the people do something about it. Since we don't have millions we can only VOTE or get out the vote. Unless you like the dark ages, better DO SOMETHING.

People who care about the future for their grandchildren should vote for Obama. Here's why. U.S. population projections for 2075 say half a BILLION. Unemployment at 30% will be considered "low". During Obama's first term our Total Fertility Rate declined from 2.1 to 1.9. It is still too high but better. This decline was not due to Obama--it was due to sensible citizens. But Obama's Contraceptive Mandate and Medicaid Expansion will enable more citizens to reproduce responsibly. He deserves a second term to get these measures entrenched; if he is successful we will be begin to see a glimmer of good things to come within this decade.

Four months? Two years? Who's counting? Certainly not the Republicans. The truth, to them, is whatever they choose to believe. After hearing Ryan's speech at the RNC, I'll never trust anything that comes out of his mouth! I've got all the fact-checking sites bookmarked because I don't know what to believe any more. And then we have the trolls who add their own facts and fabricated articles from conservative blogs and emails, and who refer to "lies" as "spin"! You'd think that with all the progress we've made in the area of mass communication we'd be better informed. Unfortunately, those with ulterior motives have the same right to spread "misinformation" as others do to share legitimate information.
Great article and great cartoon --although Mitch could use a few well-placed feathers to support the title! Or be standing over a carcass...

Thanks TC - a majority merely means in politics that people on your own side finagle and or manoeuver to get their own way for 'brownie points' with their own electorate - as we had shown to us in that few month majority and threaten to withold their vote to get personal advantage. Whatever happened to 'team players'....?

But he did have Olympia J. Snowe. I don't mind when someone makes a mistake if they learned from it, but I don't see that happening. When someone tells me they have 10 years experience to ask if that is 10, 1 year experiences, or 10 years experience.

I am saddened as I read this and so many other posts and comments. Sad because I see our country going down the tubes. Instead of celebrating our diversity we have become increasingly polarized, use cute but nasty terms for those that think differently (and we are supposed to be the tolerant liberals??) and denigrate all who have opinions different than our own.
Gone is the day of compromise. We can not complain about our Senate and House as we have received what we richly deserved. They continue to support this horrible divide and, we, the people, are perpetuating the conflict.
This partisan divde is tearing the country apart and we must all make it heal. Instead of demonizing each other and each other's views, we need to make an effort to undrestand and respect. That doesn't mean giving in but it does mean being open minded.Read Jonathan Haidt's "Painful American Divide" for more.
If you remember Pogo at all, the classic line surely fits today.

I do agree with your last line, John - but you may remember how Obama was criticized for trying to meet the Republicans half way....a body can only beat their head against the wall so long before realizing that wall is not going to give an inch.
