It’s 3 AM, when the phone rings in the oval office. Open conflict has broken out between Israeli and Palestinian forces in both the West Bank and Gaza. Claiming that Iran is supplying the Palestinians with weapons and logistical support, Israel is about to launch a strike against Iran and has their nuclear arsenal at the ready. What will President Willard Romney do to defuse the crisis? The phone in the oval office keeps ringing. There’s nobody home.

Interesting.....having seen Mitt's LEAP to judgment this last week....I'd be AFRAID to have his finger on the button!

Thanks Tom for the great post and video. There is no way I want this man in a position to make a judgement call of any kind and I think most of the American electorate are beginning to see that also. Read and noted.

Being Mittens talks out of both sides of his mouth I am not surprised by his war mongering on one side and passive statements on the other. He himself doesn't know who the hell he is or what he stands for. It depends on to whom he is speaking and on and on and on...

Mittens is a totally idiot, Just watch all the GOP running away from him after that tape was released about 47% of the American people are all freeloaders and only want handouts from the Government I can not understand why there are still some idiots that will vote for him, What a disgusting rat he is.

With regard to the question in Tom's opening statement:

If his past actions are any indication, he'll accuse President Obama of "apologizing" for our country and spend the next few days yachting and jet ski riding with Ann --all the while hoping that the situation resolves itself while "the ball gets kicked down the road."

On Yahoo news today, they had a loooot of cartoons about the Muslims. I do not think it wise. It seems the French published them but we didn't have to follow. Why provoke prejudice and pain? This crisis must be terrible for our Care2 muslim members and friends. Labels defy logic.

Romney must not be our president. I am so glad he has made this evident to every thinking voter. Even if some of his statements are misunderstood ..... misunderstandings create war. I don't like the idea, but I think, for survival, I'm going to have to vote straight Democrat.

I'm so glad he's letting us all know the kind of leader he would make. I just wonder, is it self destructive or self protective? There must be a barely subliminal part of him that does not want to live in a country where ROMNEY is president.

The republicans have lampooned Jimmy Carter during this whole campaign. He got Israel and Egypt to meet, something no other president had done. He didn't "kick the ball down the street."

Excellent Ed Schultz interview - thanks TC. I am not in the least surprised that Janus - sorry, I mean Romney - is turning his face again and saying something opposite to what he just said! Aren't the GOP/Tea Party supporters worried that he will do the same to them - say one thing and then make whatever panicked decision he flaps to at the time even though it contradicts his 'promises'?

Nor is it surprising that he 'talks tough' sometimes - that is because he is a weak and is trying not to get hit!

3 a.m. : the Middle East in Crisis — the phone rings 4 times and then a voice "You have reached the White House in Washington, DC. We're not home now so please leave a message and we'll get back to you when we can. For future reference, business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday."

Rmoney reminds me of Beetlejuice — his head keeps going around and around as he talks out of all sides of his head. It's not even 3 a.m. and his is still incoherent!

“America could be held up and blackmailed by Iran, by the mullahs, by crazy people,” he said. “So we really don’t have any option but to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon.” — And who keeps Rmoney away from US nuclear weapons "the red button"? He is just as loose a cannon as Ahmadinejad!

A stalking tiger publicly and a paper tiger privately — which is the real Rmoney? At best, I don't think Rmoney knows himself, and that is dangerous. At its worst, Rmoney is grabbing for political gain from wherever he can get it, without thought for the implications. Rmoney is so totally incompetent . . . his incompetence is beyond words!

Get out the vote!!!!!

Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

Given your scenario one option is to roll over and go back to sleep. While I have always supported a two state solution I have never seen Isreal play by the rules. Perhaps it is better to let the middle-east do its thing and stabilize after the smoke clears.

Now stop with this stuff, I'm trying to get an invite to one of those Colbert reported fund raisers on LI.

Obama will give a great speech as a part of his outreach program to Iran after Iran bombs Israel, Saudis and a couple or two of American targets.

May be Romney is not that good, but Obama is worse, than useless. He could not anything positive in the Middle East, with the only remarkable memories are his bowing down to Saudi King, helping Islamists to over-throw American ally Mubarak, minimizing support to Israel and making stupid suggestions killing the peace process, helping Islamists to grab power in Libya - same Islamists who later killed the American ambassador.

Agreed, Bob, that the question should be "What has Obama done to escalate the crisis in the middle east since he has been in office?"

The liberals are like little children. They think if they don't talk about Obama's failed presidency that it won't exist. LOL. This thread is comedy central.

Obama has ignored the middle east for four years. He went around the world in early 2009 on his "We SUCK Tour" apologizing to these countries for our "bad behavior" and he was bowing to the heads of these countries, stated he was a Muslim (google it) and that he could speak Arabic and learned the hard Koran....yessiree....the liberals gave us a real dude of a president....and none of you knew one thing about his background. I call that the "blind leading the blind" putting ALL Americans in harm's way.

Romney and Ryan have a great chance of winning the election IMO. Why do I feel that way? Because the lying and spinning left wing media wouldn't tell the truth about polls. My guess is that the polls are alot more in favor of Romney and Ryan. But that's not important, not really. What IS important are the upcoming debates....that will separate the men from the boys.

Bob A. has a psychological problem called Islamists.I have advised him several times to see a physiatric but apparently he thinks he can get well without physciatric help.Mubarak was a dictator in the first place and the Egyptians are the ones who forced him in their non violent revolution to step down and who put him in jail later.Neither Obama nor anyone else could help him. What he calls Islamist came to office after free elections not because they are the most popular but because they are more organized than any other Egyptian political party because they were working under the ground most of the time. They are not the majority and this will most probably be clear in the next parliamentary elections.

Yes Obama couldn't do what he promised regarding the Israeli occupation and the Zionist settlements being built on the land stolen from the Palestinians, but we all know why.AIPAC and other Zionist lobbies which controls not only the white house but the US congress as well.Zionism is ready to assassinate any American president who dares to put obstacles to stop their project to dominate the world not only the middle east.See what happened to JFK when he opposed Israel's military nuclear program.
As Yuri Avnery wrote on September 15,2012 "Benjamin Netanyahu may stick to the illusion that all is quiet on the Palestinian front, so that he can concentrate on his efforts to get Mitt Romney elected and frighten Iran. After all, when Palestinians are protesting against Palestinians, that’s OK. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is frozen. No problem.
But this illusion is, well, an illusion. In our conflict, nothing is ever frozen.
Not only are the settlement activities going on steadily - if quietly - but on the Palestinian side, too, things are moving. Pressures are building up. At some time, they will explode.
When the Arab Spring finally arrives in Palestine, its main target will not be Abbas or Fayyad. Abbas is no Mubarak. Fayyad is the very opposite of a Qaddafi. The target will be the occupation."

That said I must say: If I were an American and have the right to vote,I would vote DEMOCRATS . Period.

Obama (via Clinton and the State Dept) were HAPPY to sign UN Resolution 1618, which CRIMINALIZES your right to criticize Islam. If Obama is re-elected and his Supreme Court decides that this resolution trumps the First Amendment, YOU COULD GO TO JAIL, when you wake up and realize that an Global Islamic Caliphate forcing you to become Sharia-compliant is something that you very much don't want.

See you in jail.

Romney is the lesser of two evils.

TomCat S. (286)

You're parroting a lie.

Speaking of Resolution 1618, Clinton summed it up as follows:

“The resolution calls upon states to protect freedom of religion, to counter offensive expression through education, interfaith dialogue, and public debate, and to prohibit discrimination, profiling, and hate crimes, but not to criminalize speech unless there is an incitement to imminent violence.”

Thanks TC for making political sushi out of Beth S's comment which is nothing more than lies and scare tactics faithfully parrotted.

There are many weeds of hate, like religious intolerance, that try to choke off the good seeds of peace and understanding. Pull the weeds. Promote the growth of seeds.

Hey! I see that my comment suspiciously disappeared! Tom's "amen" above proves it existed.

I had basically said that Adelson is the big funder for Romney. The Netanyahoo agenda is what Romney's is going to be.....WWIII.

It ain't happening.

Diane O.... "This thread is comedy central."

If it such a comedy why be on it at all, go comment on some Republican post and leave us comedians alone.

Cam V.... "as your Ambassador was being attacked and dragged into the streets"

The media never tells us the truth, everything is politicized in this country to fuel hate. But fueling anger never does anyone any good.
From all the pictures that have been on the internet it looks to me more like he was being picked up and carried, like the news first reported. It was reported that he was picked up and carried to the hospital, by sympathizing Libyans, not dragged into the streets.
I refuse to believe that all Muslims are hateful people that hate us.
And to say that our President went partying after 4 people died is about as hateful a statement as anyone can make and I take great offense of it. He is my President not yours to insult.

Obama lies about Libya, Sec Clinton lies about Libya, our US Ambassador lies about Libya and thanks to CNN, they found the truth. It was a pre-planned terrorist attack! Libyan security personnel told our security people way before the attack it is was eminent. Any nothing was done. Who is the Commander in Chief, Barack Hussein Obama yet you libs attack Gov Romney about the Midde East. HYPOCRITES!

Cynthia D. You are a fool. When the consulate was still burning and our Ambassador and his security detachment laid dead, Obama flew out to Vegas for a fundraiser, had time to cofirm with Jay-Z that he was coming to his fancy fundraiser in Manhattan, then went to Colorado to tell jokes but was too busy to meet with the Prime Minister of Israel. Instead, he should have stayed at the White House. Obama is a joke!

You know normally I would be outraged by someone that wanted to call me a fool, but I know were this stuff comes from and the hate that it is trying to generate, and I have decided to not fall in the trap that has made this person call me a fool. People that believe everything they read or see on TV and don't step back and think for their self are dangerous for this country. This hate for Obama is unrealistic and damaging to this country. The hate being generated in this country in general is disgusting and it is the reason some one I don't even know wants to call me a fool.
Storek...
The Prime Minister of Israel had not asked to see Obama in person, but they did speak over the phone. You might be right that Obama should have stayed at the W.H. but to put it as though he does not care is insulting, and who are you that we should respect your opinion that Obama should have stayed at the White House.....What did Romney do that day? Obama is your President too, have some respect.

Arab League chief Nabil al-Araby said Wednesday that the league, along with the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the European Union and the African Union are close to formulating an international agreement penalizing blasphemy and insults to religious figures.

States should not be blamed for insults to Islam made by some individuals, Araby told reporters at the league's headquarters in Cairo. He renewed his criticism of the US-produced film that denigrates Islam's Prophet Mohamed and has sparked protests around the world, describing it as "valueless and trivial."

It is ludicrous that Iran would throw nuclear bombs on Israel, because that would be suicide, and anyone with half a brain knows it. The itch for war is not Iran's nor Obama's. It is another ploy to get yet another war started and have it financed by us, to benefit ....... I don't even know who it benefits except maybe Satan. Are we so dumbed down as a country that we could even imagine another war after the Iraqi debacle? Even the haters know it was a war that started because of lies about the same "weapons of mass destruction." The above paid trolls and haters are too stuck in the illusions and lies to realize the truth of what is really going on.
Vote Obama 2012 if you care about the planet.

Diane O. (149)
Friday September 21, 2012, 4:04 pm
Polls "use to be" important but they aren't anymore because of the left wing media.....here's what I think....I believe we can all take a good hard look at what the polls really mean after the debates. Before then we are going to be exposed to the "yo yo" polls based on which political party is reporting. So, we need to step back and wait for the debates IMO.

Diane O. (149)
Friday September 21, 2012, 4:18 pm
Camila, polls use to be accurate but not anymore for whatever reasons.....the debates will educate us so that we know where we need to be to vote for the party that can bring our country back from the brink of despair. We all love America....both republicans and democrats...I believe that. We love our country. Our vision on how we get there to accomplish that is different. Bottom line...we are all Americans.
