Considering that SCOTUS ignored the Constitution and decided Citizens United giving corporations free reign to spend $millions to fund disingenuous advertising for Republicans, do you think Republicans will be satisfied with their gift from the fascist five? If your answer is yes, you’re mistaken, because Republicans have filed suit for even more.

It is possible that in the next four years two Supreme Court vacancies will need to be filled. The question is do we really want radical right wingers to appoint Supreme Court Judges that can and will interpret the constitution as they choose, rather as it was written? The decision about Citizens United is but one of many that do affect our lives directly. Do you really want Smarmy Adelson or the cock roach Koch brothers to fully own this country and all of the representatives? There is always more than just a president we are choosing.

There are reasons that when the founding fathers first established the form of government, they separated the executive, legislative and judiciary. But now it seems that the judiciary is blurring the lines, and that is deadly as the judiciary then has the ability to make or break the executive or legislature!

Vote Democratic 2012 for a just and balanced judiciary!

Get out the vote!!!!!

Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

Tom, Love the cartoon and embellishments on their dresses. So important to vote this year with the probability that there will be one or maybe more vacating the bench and surely we don't want Wrongmey having anything to do with the next appointment. I wish we could change the term in office to 5 or 7 years for those on SCOTUS.

...if for no other this is the reason to put aside your disappointment and anger with Mr. Obama and vote for him............the picture says it all.....

Thanks Tom for the post. A Romney packed court with nominees picked by Bork is terrifying to contemplate. We need to keep him out of the Oval Office. Please people vote Democratic and Keep Obama/Biden in office. Read and noted.

TomCat--thanks for helping us all keep track of all the we have left to lose like:
"Moreover, because of a federal law that requires the Supreme Court to hear certain campaign finance cases, the Supreme Court is now almost certain to take the case — potentially handing the Republican Party their biggest Supreme Court victory since Citizens United… "

Yahey - managed to give a green star to Carlene V! I do so agree about the endorsements on their judicial robes - they should be there all the time - in fact, politicians should have them too - ALL of them! (The only one appearing as pure as the driven snow would be Bernie Sanders, as far as I can tell - but I do hope there might be others).

Thanks everyone.

I'd like to see a mandatory retirement age for SCOTUS.

Don't tell me. Karl Rove and the 4th reich is behind this...

A mandatory retirement age for SCOTUS could cut both ways. Warren was 78 when he retired, Burger was 79, and then we got Rehnquist, who presided over the Bush v Gore decision and retired at 79. Sure, if Rehnquist had retired at, say, 70, there would have been a Clinton appointee as Chief Justice and we wouldn't have gotten stuck with Roberts - provided Warren and Burger hadn't retired at, say, 70 - OK, had Warren done so Kennedy would have appointed; and granted Burger, had he retired at 70, Jimmy Carter would have appointed - well, yes, it apparently could have worked well, but there is no guarantee. (We have no clue who Kennedy might have appointed except it for pretty sure wouldn't have been Burger LOL.) However, I do remember being very upset with O'Connor for retiring at 75 and opening a spot for Bush appointee Alito. Had she hung on for four more years I do not believe we would have had Citizens United.

As has been pointed out, including by Joe Biden, the next president may appoint as many as two justices to the supreme court. Do we really want those to be men selected by the extremists of the republican party like Mitt? That is reason enough to not support that lying liar. Appointed for life, we are stuck with Roberts for many many presidential terms, do we really dare allow two more like him to be appointed? It would take the country half a century to recover the freedoms a court like that would take from us.

Jason, don't you mean fifth? The fourth ended in 2009. ;-)

Joanne, I was speaking generally, rather than for partisan advantage. When the founding fathers made appointment for a much shorter lifetime.

Amen Gene.

Roni Jo, I'd love to, but what specific felony can be proven against them?

TomCat, I think Jason meant Karl Rove when referring to the "architect." Thanks for the star, BTW.

How much more corrupt, can our nation get?
People around the world are laughing at us, as a industrialized nation, with a Supreme Court that does not live up to the standards, on which America was built.

Heaven help our future, if we don't insist on a honest bunch of justices.
