Even though the Republican meme of voter fraud has proven virtually non existent, and the very few examples that have existed have been perpetrated almost exclusively by Republicans, election fraud remains a real threat, because there is nothing Republicans will not do to steal an election. That has even cropped up here in my back yard.

We have seen this too many times, and those are only the ones caught. We need (sad to say) supervised, independent observers at every polling station in the country, with no exceptions.

Plus they own voting machines.
Don't need a repeat of 2000.Imagine how this country would be if Bush had never got his hands on it.
As Al Gore would say " I'm super serial".

I have to agree with Kit, because as you said Tom, Repukelicans will do anything to steal the election. As I said in another post, if I had my way, they would all be arrested for being a public nuisance.

Ty Tom. Yep here we go again as usual. . .i've watched the same GOP shenanigans at work since the '70's. Nixon should have gone to prison. And they will do everything possible to rig and steal this election. . .it's their SOP. Nixon's 100% RACIST Southern Strategy is alive and well with even shadier sicker elements running the show. . .Old Big Money, New Industrialist Profiteers, Religious Fanatics et al beneficiaries. . .the SICKEST poli-socio economic conglomerate Cess Pool in history. . .they've been working overtime to take down the New Deal since FDR and Frances Perkins managed to administer it [and every good thing for the people since.] Republicans make me want to PUKE. . .brain dead and soulless bio forms marauding the planet. Every time Romney opens his mouth my stomach wants to hurl. . .even God doesn't know where these creatures came from. So this time we must be ready to act if this election IS stolen. . .and NOT let the thugs get away with it. . .

They are just such incredible hypocrites, its amazing that anyone is voting for any of them! Of course, then there are those who just don't get it and they clearly need serious meds or some kind of therapy to come back to reality.
Jim said it, Bush stole it, probably both times. What a dunce he was, but I guess that's how they like their leaders....as long as they have 5 digits like Norquist hissed.

Some of you people are completely blinded by ignorance. Try flipping the dial on your TV stations. If you think CNN is reporting ALL of the news, you're wrong. They only report stories that are favorable to Obama and the Democracts, and in FACT... Obama and camp PAY CNN and other networks MONEY to report the stories favorably for them. That's why you all are in the dark. I challenge you all to watch Fox News. Certainly you want to hear both side to the story? You really should, and I think you'll be shocked and disappointed at what a corrupt, dishonest, anti-American President Obama has been. Not to mention he rarely works. Too buys golfing 149 times so far and appearing with celebrities to bother running this country. He's failed all of us. And as far as CNN.. here's the story on them being PAID off by yes, your honest man Obama.

Thanks Tom for the post and the link to the Willamette Week news. Maybe this is the GOP's November big surprise. Read and noted.

It seems to me that there was a similar issue in maybe Wisconsin or Minnesota last year about August (or at least reported then). That was my introduction to the corruption in some US politics. I believe it was a Republican county clerk playing with the vote count.

Now there is this in Oregon!

As a banker, ask me about cash security and auditing some time. I did it for 40 years. When large amounts of cash are delivered to a bank by armoured car, custody is always taken by two people. That is a safety feature, not only for the bank, but also for the people receiving it. Is your vote any less valuable than $60,000 or $100,000 when you consider what is at stake for 4 years?

I had the owner of a travel agency in my office and we were discussing her business. She was having some problems that really didn't add up. After telling me her procedures, I made a suggestion or two, but it was up to her to decide if she would follow them. She did and a month later she returned to tell me she had proof now that an employee was falsifying things and scamming her. More over, it involved her largest corporate client (they were not doing anything wrong — they were being used too!) The employee was fired and the matter referred to the police.

It is the same in the administration of elections. There must be strict procedures in place including dual custody at a minimum and they must be followed. If you don't want to play by the rules then get out!

One funny little story about following the rules — very early in my career, the bank auditors showed up one evening. The first item on their two week long agenda is to count all the cash. I was a teller and had the cash in my till as well as a lock compartment in the vault. The auditor asked me to go get the cash out of the compartment while he continued counting my till cash. I tried to shut my till but he kept insisting he have access to the till cash while I retrieved the other. Fed up with his stupidity, I quite forcefully closed my cash drawer with his fingers in the way. When he pulled his VERY sore fingers out, I calmly locked the drawer, went and retrieved the other cash, and returned, unlocking my till for him to carry on. He was more than a little pissed off with me. I don't know if he ever played the guitar again! He was deliberately trying to trick me but did not succeed because I knew and followed the rules. BTW, he reported me to the Senior Inspector who congratulated me on my conduct.

Well it is a step up from the Robert Mugabe election tactics in that it is a little more sophisicated, but then when it is blindingly obvious that the Republicans want to stamp out election fraud is a red herring it might as well be said in the quote that George W Bush fouled out, "We won't be fooled again" they had to lock up the 2000 election results, which does suggest the locked up the wrong thing.

It is not election fraud that republicans want to stop since they are the ones being caught. They want power. When a political party resorts to attrition to secure an election, (They know the vote will be close), they have little intention of honoring the will of the electorate. The party of Lincoln has very little left of it that Lincoln would recognize.

I also see that they often fail to note the articles, so promoting an article for purposes of discussion does not tempt them either.

I have to agree the Republicans will do anything to win.....Mitt's own son has ownership in voting machines, and where might you ask, Ohio. I am so amazed at how many people are really not paying attention to what is happening to our country through our complacent attitudes and the underhanded lies, etc that are in our supposive leaders. Makes me very sad. I am not a Republican or Democrate, I am an American and I am tired of my country being turned in to such a sorry state of lies, underhanded, down right criminal activity from those who are in politics. The Republicans will go to any lengths to win, lets not forget they spent over a million dollars just to prove Clinton had sex, and the there is Florida.....why further action was not taken I will never know. Let's bring HONOR back to our government and people!!

I love how all you Liberals continue to be blinded by biased news media. Look up above. I provided not ONE but TWO links showing corruption within the Democratic Party. It is nothing short of disgusting that the Democratic is so desperate to put an incompetent, un-American, un-Goldly man in office such as Obama who has done more to destroy the United States than any president in history. He doesn't care about the U.S. He cares about Obama. For God's sake, he's appalled at having to place his hand on his heart. And why is this? It's because he is NOT a U.S. born citizen, he refuses to disclose his college transcripts out of fear we will all see he is a FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT" and thus NOT a U.S. citizen, and as far as ethnicity, he is not BLACK/African-American as we know. Compare his photo to Osama Bin Laden. The facial features are unbelievably the same. Put his picture next to a true African American and you will see the facial features are nothing alike. This is frightening folks! We have an Arab in office who's set at destroying our nation. We need to get him out before he ruins this country completely.

Now another link for you blinded folk to ponder. Now understand this... I DO NOT BELIEVE OBAMA IS THE SAME PERSON AS OSAMA. But what this video shows is just how closely Obama's facial features match up to Osama. There is absolutely no doubt about it.

Btw? Question? Is this whole Care2Cards site LIBERAL DEMOCRATS? Or are there articles presenting boths sides? I've only seen extreme liberalism. Hoping I'm wrong. But can't help to get over seeing CNN is a sponsor or whatever of this site. If that's the case. It's extreme liberal bias and a pity of a site. Unless it's proven this site is a partial site, I'll be spreading the word full-force to boycott this site.
