For that last four years, the Republican Party has sabotaged America in an effort to make Barack Obama look bad, blame the Democrats, and return to power. For their trouble, they lost their bid for the White House. They also lost two Senate seats, despite their overwhelming advantage that the Democrats were defending 23 seats to their 10. They maintained control of the House, only because they abused power to stack the deck, as Democratic candidates received over half a million more votes than Republicans. Since voters gave Obama and the Democrats a clear mandate to govern, Republicans should have realized that their strategy will not work.

Unfortunately, some lessons have to be learned the hard way - apparently, the Republican Party is going to keep learning and it's going to be the hard way. Oh, well...

Graham is lost cause, as are those with like minded thinking. This is new America and new world, it takes time for all of us to adjust to changes but first we must be willing to look around and take note that things have changed. Things may be some what different in the House, they each know that 2014 may indeed hold unpleasant surprises for those who are taking a pay check, and doing nothing. These are the "takers" those who want free things from the government.

A pay check, healthcare, retirement funds for serving as little as five years in office, chauffeured limousines, a bloated staff, and for what? Talk, talk and more talk? Get to work or get out...lead, follow or get the hell out of the way. I haven't seen leadership, maybe they can follow?

I think it could be a reverse of the 4 years of Obama's presidency from 2008 to now. The first 2 yrs, Obama passed many a great bill and law. Then in the elections of 2010, there was a takeover by the TeaParty and the attempt to obstruct and stop all progress. Now, with the House still in the hands of the Repubs, there could be more of the same obstruction (by those who are too stupid to see the light...such as chinless wonder Mitch McConnell). But, if this continues now, there will be a TeaParty purge in 2014! Perhaps Obama's last 2 yrs as POTUS will be the most productive, especially if we take the House as well as the Senate.

Lindsey might mess up his own constituants to mess up President Obama's constituants. Then what? Sorry. It's too late. We won.

"For that last four years, the Republican Party has sabotaged America", I think that's more like the last 40 years! Just when you think they've wallowed as low as they could go in the "hate, spite, & greed" trough, they have a melt down initiating the China Syndrome!

Thanks Tom for the post. Graham and McConnell will never change and that may, as you suggest, lead to their downfall. Read and noted

If they believed in science, they would probably consider cloning themselves in order to generate a fresh new crop of "angry old white guys." God forbid! One Lindsay Graham and one Mitch McConnell are more than enough!

As I listened, I couldn't help think back to 11 September 2001 and the terrorist attacks on the WTC, the Pentagon, and the would be attempt on the Capitol building that fell short and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. There were approximately 3,000 deaths plus economic damage that went on for months and years. As I recall, there was a lot of who knew what and when, and that intelligence information was ignored until after the fact. From Wikipedia:

"[The 9/11 Commission was] Formed from an independent bipartisan group of mostly former Senators, Representatives, and Governors, the commissioners explained, "We believe the 9/11 attacks revealed four kinds of failures: in imagination, policy, capabilities, and management" The commission made numerous recommendations on how to prevent future attacks, and in 2011 was dismayed that several of its recommendations had yet to be implemented. "

McConnell was elected a senator from Kentucky in 1985, while Lindsey Graham was elected a Representative from South Carolina in 1995 switching to the Senate in 2003. So why did they not rant and carry on about the Bush administration failures in conjunction with 9/11, as they they have so clearly done with the Benghazi incident and it's tragic loss of 4 Americans? As Think Progress puts it: "While itís certainly true that Benghazi was a terrible tragedy, thereís simply no evidence that it was the sort of massive, disqualifying scandal that Graham says it is."

I agree that Lindsey, McConnell and others have blown the Benghazi incident out of all proportions in a fit of partisan politics, and definitely in no way as an attempt to get at any truth. I also agree with you TC that these two probably fear the wrath of that rabid dog, the Tea Party, more than they do the electorate. After all, look what happened to Dick Lugar.

It is way past time that American voters actually looked at what their representatives do in Washington, and put some serious thought into discerning what is important to them and why, and how their representatives are helping them towards those goals.

Oh Lord, they're at it again! What am I saying??! The GOP/TP have only stopped crying and lying to briefly draw breath for many, many years - of course they are carrying on doing the same ,,,, SIGH - it just makes you think they weren't brought up right!

They and we need to get over it and start working together. This isn't a Dem or rep nor a Liberal or conservative country. It's our country and if we can't work together we are in ever deepening doo doo! It would help if we as readers of posts such as this would drop the invective and start writing letters to all the folks we've put in office. They need to start doing their job.

Well that is most probably true but the Really Good Part is that we get to watch them eat their own first. I am already enjoying the hell out of the "Clown Car" occupants becoming Cannibal Killer Klowns from an Alternate Universe. I laughed so hard that my 3 cracked ribs nearly needed medicating when Norquist called Romney a "Poopy Head" and more and more Repugs are actually waking up to the fact that Their Media Echo Chamber has been lying to them. Then there is the loverly fact that now only about 1/3 of the Repug House has actually signed and affirmed their allegiance to Norquist with a 1/3 not having signed at all and the other 1/3 having signed and now disavowing. Oh it may be Another Circus but I think it will involve a lot of Repugs either shooting themselves in the foot or shooting each other while trying to taking pot shots at Obama and the Dems.

Democrats have been trying to work with Republicans since Obama was elected. They should keep trying, butr until Republicans are willing to work together, it can't happen. Most of the things they have blocked were originally Republican ideas.

With something like a 9% approval rating one would think these Fascist tools would get with the program and start doing the people's bidness instead of that for their corporate overlords. But, alas, they will not because they fear loosing their base and their seats than they do the American People's wrath. Well...go ahead, Mr. McTurtleMan and Mr. Graham-Crackerz.....plunge yourself into the warm waters of Batsh** Crazy, off-the-wall lunacy of NO...go right ahead....you will keep your base but you will LOOSE your seats anyway because the PEOPLE will vote you out despite your loonytoons loser base.

...the greatest irony is how many times we heard them calling Mr. Obama "an angry black man" on right wing propoganda machines.....

No. Lloyd - Norquist said that was how Obama won - by not being Romney and identifying him as a poopy head.De facto - Obama called Romney a poopy head. This is a grown man talking like a small child...truly amazing stuff, funny, very funny and stunning. I'm a little bit embarrassed for him, I realize he doesn't have the sense to be embarrassed for himself.

John - I agree we need to work together for the good of the country....but when are republicans going to dump the poopy heads? Norquist, Rove, Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter, Palin, Bachmann...need I go on? Just have someone like Boehner or McConnell step up and say the words. "This is not what we stand for...." The country would breath a collective sigh of relief, and the republicans would benefit from being republicans, again. Rather than the party of whack-a-doodles.

Oh believe me Lindsey Poo, you HAVE generated enough angry white guys, they voted for Obama. Your kind is history. It's a NEW world where people have educated themselves and are wise to the crap the Teabagging GOP is trying to put over on us. We need to make sure these twits get voted out next time. Their days in office are numbered.
