Time 3:23.

The southern states continue to be the stupid states, passing some of the most unconstitutional laws one can imagine. These laws will require a visit to the Supreme Court in time, in the mean time people in those states have to endure the folly of current legislatures. In Florida, doctors can not advise or even ask about guns in the home (doctors do regularly ask this with minor patients, to offer or discuss safety advice) and in Missouri all first graders are now required to take gun classes taught by the NRA - first grade. In a few states (below the Mason-Dixon) teachers are required to tell parents if a student is suspected to homosexual, an no answering question or discussing homosexuality - for any reason. That does not even begin to touch on some the insane laws and attitudes in the south. Who know one day they may even make all the way to the twentieth century. Not soon.

wow, Mr. Blakeman must be able to create scientists out of air since 97% of scientists world-wide believe climate change is man-made....must going to be pulling them out of their.....of course the hot-air he (Rush, Sean, etc) all spew out maybe the cause all by itself......

Puzzle — 4:32 Hot I'm not!

MoveOn — I wonder if they have a Canadian arm?

Think Progress — "As the Washington Post observes, “it makes no sense, nor is it morally right, for the United States to create a permanent underclass of workers, numbering in the millions, who have no prospect of citizenship even as we expect them to continue mowing our lawns, caring for our children, painting our houses and manning our processing plants — as many have done for a decade or more already.”"

Wasn't slavery effectively abolished in the south with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and then in 1865, all remaining slaves in the US were freed with the ratification of the 13th amendment?

Media Matters — Pardon my language, but what an asshole! More Republican/Teabagger screed. Stupid is as stupid does!

Cartoon — And they are still trying to secede! And they are most definitely still trying to win the Civil War that they lost.

Nice to see Robert Reich again on the Move On/Sign On video.

I daresay that if Mr Blakeman wanted he could get ten deniers of climate change to his one scientist who believes in it – but only for that one occasion totally eleven people(!) – as you say TC, at least 97% of scientists believe we have a LOT to do with climate change. As for those who say the earth has heated up before – yes it has, and the dinosaurs became the dominant life form as most of it was desert!

I love MoveOn.org !:) This gives me hope after last night's depressing conference call type Union meeting..
Think Progress shows that the Greedy One Percenters really do miss their slavery-economy roots! I've always wondered though, If they truly believe that illegal immigrants are ALL criminals who purposely broke the law - Why do they entrust their children & their plants/industry with them???? These hypocrites KNOW these people are illegals (how else to they get such Cheap labor?)! So why aren't They being arrested for aiding & abetting, child endangerment, etc????
Media Matters — why doesn't the FCC start Fining these Liars?? No wonder Canada prevented FOX "News" from airing because it was NOT "News" or even True Opinions, but simply LIES!
Cartoon — too true to be funny..but I think the RepubliCONs are losing the South again (not fast Enough though) and are trying to make in-roads into "civilized" states (like Illinois!?)..:(

I guess it's possible that there are still people in this country who can't comprehend what's right before their eyes, and it's very sad because they and their loved ones are being adversely affected by climate change every day. Large corporations deny climate change because they're causing it, while making huge profits. Taking preventive or remedial action would cut into their profits. And many unethical politicians deny it because their campaigns are being bankrolled by the large corporations that are causing it in return for voting against any legislation that would make them take responsibility for their actions. The health and well-being of our citizens and our planet doesn't seem to matter to them. Greed has a way of doing that to people...

Thanks Tom for the post and videos.
I've been a fan and supporter of MoveOn from the beginning.
Think Progress: Rep. Raϊl Labrador and the GOP are playing to their fringe base on the immigration issue.
Faux Noise: Truth, facts? No. Scary comedy? Unfortunately yes.
Read and noted.

It was not that long ago that people referred to those states below the Mason Dixon line as "the New South". Now, since the far right has raised its ugly head, the south is reverting back to its old form. It has become more intolerant, more racist, more subservient to the rich and is trying new ways to suppress the right to vote, I have to believe that, if we weather this wave of the glorification of stupidity, that the more moderate voices will win out. A heartening sign is that the south does have some common sense democratic office holders "fighting the good fight."
