Donors to 503(c)(4) groups may remain anonymous, because 503(c)(4) groups are required to focus exclusively on social welfare. However, Republicans are using 503(c)(4) groups, like Rove’s Crossroads GPS, for political purposes illegally. They are getting away with it because of an IRS loophole. "…the IRS has sat on its hands for the past two election cycles…"
I would say it is more like the IRS has had its head up its ass. Between this dark money and the churches that are breaking their tax exempt status regulations, the IRS needs to "pitter, patter, let's get at 'er!". Unfortunately, if I recall correctly something you said TC, the IRS has had so many funding cuts etc that they can't get at as much of this stuff as they should. How the right manages to keep the IRS impotent, and fill their own pockets at the same time.
