Here is the fourth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Liberty Law School’s Dean, J. Matt Barber, who shows his Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian love by supporting the Ugandan effort to invoke the death penalty for being gay.

I never stop finding it amusing, or maybe I mean ironic, or maybe I mean lying b*stards when it comes to republicans naming anything. Like the general principle that applies to republicans, watch what they DO, not what they SAY, because most of the time they are polar opposites; the same holds true for how they name their organizations. As if that "law" school was about liberty in ANY way. Were it, it could not employ a man who epitomizes the opposite of liberty. Calling for death to those with whom you disagree or find unsuitable, simply because they are not like you, is hypocritic AND the opposite of liberty. I think a school that actually appreciated liberty would not have a weasel like this one representing it in anyway. I bet their diplomas are printed in crayon. pthhh.

Republicans can't be trusted to represent the middle class or those trying to get into the middle class. Vote republicans out of office in every state in every election.

Creeps like this need to be exposed for what they are as you have done here. It always amazes me that most call themselves Christians. Excuse me but WHO DID JESUS HATE? Homophobes have deep seated hatreds with no benefit whatsoever to mankind. Thanks Tomcat.

Republicans are a deeply sad embarrassment to all creation. . .and show no signs of changing that. . .

"The most heinous and the most cruel crimes of which history has record have been committed under the cover of religion or equally noble motives” ―Mohandus K. Gandhi

“For at least two thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity, idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religious or political idols” ― Aldous Huxley, Complete Essays 1, 1920-25

“But he was sick of this charade. Sick of watching people lose a little more of their humanity each day, and sick to death of seeing people tortured in the name of God. What had happened to these people?” ― Brom

Ssempa says that gays are an abomination. It is funny, but my Bible confirms that Ssempa and Barber, and those like them, are the abomination. For so called Christians, they haven`t learned the two greatest commandments — "Love the Lord your God, and the second, love your neighbour as yourself."

These are truly sick, sick individuals!

I have signed a number of petitions in support of the LGBT community in Uganda and will continue to do so. What is wrong with these people — first Idi Amin butchers his country, and now these morons? It seems life has no value to them.

I am constantly reminded of the saying, "the hardest job in the circus is cleaning up after the elephants". How can such imbeciles still exist in our society?

Thx for posting this article; It is a need to know..
The cunningness that comes with these people are sickening. A preacher goes to unganda and plants the seeds of hatred, suffering and death.. Soon if not now we will here the same seed being rallied here..
Wait for it. While people believe they are in an America who is on their side beware!
The killing may and I believe it will come here.. THat is why I am silent on some things.. These self righteous ones with their dogma is full of who is worthy to live, breathe and have their being.
Navigate your life well.

Anyone who paints everyone with the same broad brush is not too intelligent themselves.

Thanks to almost all. Jo, I don't paint everyone with the same broad brush. When I write about the Republicans or the Democrats, I refer to the positions of the leadership. In this case, there are several Republican leaders in C Street that support SSampa. I have saidx many times that many Republicans are good people. Their party has abandoned them .

Ah, yes C Street, the barracks for 'The Family' member Repugs of the US House and Senate that were busy planting and fertilizing the seeds of violent hate in Uganda, Ghana and else where in Africa before, during and most likely now the creation of the Kill The Gays Bill. The Family cesspool of a Christian Cult/Organization that runs the National Prayer Breakfast at the White House. More notable among their members are current and former Senators, DeMint, Coburn, Ensign, Inhofe who all traveled to Uganda just before the bill was made public.. And then there is the scummy directly in Uganda work of the likes of Rick Warren, Scott Lively, Jacob Brundige and Dan Schimierer with the bills authors and rallies for the bill . The Family Invited as Guests of Honor in 2010, Ugandan President/Dictator Mouseveni, the actual author of record MP David Bahati and the Ugandan Minister of States for Ethics and Integrity James Nsabo Baturo, all members of the Family themselves. Check out the Jeff Sharlet book, "The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power.". Scott Lively is still a very active Homophobe in the US as the head of Defend the Family Ministries International, and Rick Warren and his Saddle Back Church were instrumental in helping the Mormon Church pass Prop 8 in California.
And one can not forget that on December 12, 2012 in St. Peters His former Most Unholiness Pope Benedict, aka Ratsucker of the Red Shoes, personally blessed Ugandan Legislator Rebecca Kadaga, while she was asking for the passage of the"Kill the Gays Bill" as a Christmas Present for the Ugandan people.

It should come as no surprise that a large majority of all lawyers in the Bush administration came from Liberty.

For folks who cornered the phrase, "What would
Jesus do?" They sure as heck seem bound to do
the opposite.
