I see the failure of the Farm Bill, usually just another finance bill, as a great success. The right wing made it so impossible to pass that the few moderate republicans gave it a yes vote. Some are saying Boehner has lost his grip on the House, I'm nor sure he ever had a grip.

Ooops, a NO vote.

Glad that the farm bill failed.

It had Monsanto riders, passages included in it to protect Monsanto from
various things including lawsuits.

As for the Big Three, I missed the voting. The big Three need to survive.
Chained CPI must be taken off the table.

Ty, Tom.

They have survived so far, but the next big fight will be in 2014 to dislodge as many Republican/Teabaggers from Congress as possible. Only until the Republican/Teabaggers are totally ineffectual can people relax just a little about the status of SS, Medicare, and Medicaid.

@ Jim --- I agree, no chained CPI.

The 62 Republicans that voted No on the Farm Bill wanted DEEPER cuts to SNAP, the 175 Democrats that voted No wanted no cuts to SNAP. The House is the most dysfunctional it's ever been. The 62 Teabilly idiots should act on their convictions and form their own separate party. That would give the plurality to Nancy Pelosi and she could possibly pull in enough Republicans on some bills to create a majority.

I was just on one of the ebay boards, which is generally a wingnut dominated site, at least on the social rather than help boards, but I found a quote there from one of my dead heroes which is quite true and profound in it's way. It's from Mike Royko who was a tireless defender of the common people, even if he was a real curmudgeon. Here it is:

" Why is it so much easier to be a conservative than a liberal? Because it's easier to give someone the finger rather than to offer them a helping hand." Mike Royko, columnist for the Chicago Tribune

If we want the country to survive, an important step would be to petition Obama to get Howard Dean back running the party's electioneering. I don't know why Obama doesn't like him, but that dislike lead to the Teabastards taking over.
