The fascist five activist Injustices of SCROTUS, over the objection of the four Justices of SCOTUS, ignored the Constitution and goose-stepped America back into the days of Jim Crow laws. Shelby County v. Holder is a worse decision than Citizens United, because it will make it easier for red states to disenfranchise legal voters. They pretended that this is a compromise, but it is not.

Yikes! Pretty scary stuff and a rocky road ahead if the balance in the House doesn't get shifted big time next year!

This comes from Suzanna Sherry, a constitutional law professor at Vanderbilt University:

" Even now, Congress can act to reinvigorate Section 4 and save Section 5 by adopting a new coverage formula. But just as in 2005, doing so would take courage and thoughtfulness that seems to be lacking in Congress. Cowardice and political polarization are likely to keep Congress from acting, because it would require answering hard questions, such as how should we decide which states are engaging in discrimination? And whose constituents are going to be saddled with additional burdens every time there is a proposed electoral change? "

I agree with Sherry. With the Republican/Teabaggers dominating the Congress, there will be no positive action to guarantee voting rights. In my opinion, the only action will be to further erode the voting franchise in an attempt to promote Republican/Teabagger permanent domination of the country. I fear the US is closer to the Reich model than ever before.

God save the US from being a Reich state.

R doesn't stand for retarded, IT stands for REMISS.
I think that if things continue this direction, I'm going to sail away, like during st.Reagan, and not come back till this country makes sense again.
Thanks TC

The bottom line- The Republicans have turned into a greed and absolute power driven cult. They have complete disdain for Democracy and the rights and freedoms that so much blood as been shed for in the name of being American. That blood is all red, not black, brown, yellow or any other color that these racist, purist, wannabe despots want to conjure up in their shallow, fear driven, ignorant heads. This decision reeks of overt approval of suppression. Congress is corrupted and so is the SCOTUS with the Right Wing "my way or the highway" mentality. Not until we REMOVE this set of self-centered, completely self-indulged extremists on the Right that are willing to take this Nation back to the immoralities and archaic thinking of the past, will we ever be the country that fought till the death for inclusion, equality, freedom and individual rights for ALL that were either born here, after the European invasion of this land, or chose this Country as their chance at a DECENT life. The conspiring elitist, exclusionary attitude that is so obviously saturated in the mindset of the Right to circumvent, obstruct and dissolve majority rule is alive and constantly looking for ANY way to block this democracy from working. When the selfish, spoiled rotten childish brain of the Republican Party rears it's ugly head, wake up to what fear mongering, deliberate lies and hate driven intended manipulation of a country looks like.

REMOVING REPUBLICANS = RESTORING DEMOCRACY starting in 2014 and then we'll clean up the Democrats too but if anyone says both parties are at fault in this time and place you're drinking your tea laced, dirty bathwater. It's as plain as it can be and the Republicans are making no bones about their goal of total, absolute and corrupted power. Get to the polls people no matter what it takes to vote. Between Citizen United and this very stupid and cowardly strike down of the Voting Rights Act, democracy and America no longer exists with the rights and freedoms promised in OUR Constitution. A one sided interpretation is NOT Democracy. Roberts and the rest of his Right Wing cronies have been salivating over this one since they were seated and probably long before and while we're at it, lifetime appointments in any governing body is completely anti-democracy AND anti-American AND only sets the damn table for disgusting outcomes like this one. Term limits for one, term limits for ALL.
