With all the writing this Oregonian has been doing about Texanís, of late, one might think that I had it in for them. I have to admit that Iím not pleased with the fools who voted in Rick the P%$^& and Republican majorities in the Texas House and Senate, but Texas has millions of fine people that must be dang tired of bending over and holding their ankles to get TEAbuggered! Therefore, I could not be more pleased to offer extreme kudos to State Senator Wendy Davis, who confounded Rickís Regime.

Wendy stood up-literally-for women's rights! She is fantastic!
Perry won't stop trying to get something passed; he's an idiot. (IMO)

Thanks Tom!

Not to fear, Rick the P*&^%^ has already called another special session with the first bill being....you guessed it.....yet again.....the abortion issue. He makes me wanna....(redacted).

I need a case of Preparation H, Tom, for what these Fascist Bast***s have done to this state, to minorities and to women. Oh,and, he practically lept for joy when the Fascist Five struct down part of the Voting Rights Act the other day. He already has plans in the making to make it beyond dificult to vote if one is not the right color or gender....not to mention what he plans to do to districting. SIGH.

I watched some of 'Morning Joe' and Joe Scarborough was lamenting that someone standing up for "pro-life" would not gain this level attention. Of course he is wrong, they have gained national attention many times in the past and using that purely emotional appeal have moved this again to a national debate. The major difference being, those who are fighting in the states are not attempting to infringe the rights of anyone, only to allow each person to decide for themselves what will be their own path in life. These laws are patently unconstitutional, as they take freedom from some to assuage the moral conscience of others.

The Texas state senators Wendy Davis and Leticia Van De Putte both made a brilliant showing of standing up for the rights of women. The proposed laws are not about abortion, rather about limiting the right of a woman to determine her own destiny.

Standing for freedom is not saying anyone is pro-abortion. Rather the clear message is that we trust each woman to make the best possible choice.

I hear and read the republicans hail the idea of personal choice and taking responsibility, that same principal is not projected to women, who it seems can not be trusted to make a decision without the dictates and prohibitions of the state and federal government. Like any extreme and dictatorial thinking if this bill should pass in a kangaroo vote next week, it will be undone in time.

Americans love freedom and know well that when one person is not equal, freedom is a hollow empty slogan.

This is clearly about women, but the essence of these draconian laws is wrapped in the guise of the emotion of abortion.

I don't think Perry is an idiot - I think he is a monkey fart who should not be allowed to run a blender, let alone a state.

She will become a name to remember and I hope she does run for Governor of Texas, she at least seems to understand true Rights and Freedom.

These Republicans that want small Government yet can place it Big enough into woman's wombs. They talk about taking responsibility yet they feel that only if that responsibility lies within what they dictate the rule to be. They shout freedom and at the same time are trying to take away many freedoms of people from this to the rights of others to vote without throwing obstacles and hurtles in the way. The sold called Family Values they shout, while at the same time cutting programs that feed children and Elders, slicing back educational budgets while sending that so called "saved" money in the form of tax breaks to the Corporations.

Bravo Wendy Davis and any others who are standing up to these underhanded tactics.

I saw something somewhere that said until then she had a few hundred Twitter followers and by the end of the day had more than 80,000. :^). Tom's right, it is the Republican party of Texas I find reprehensible, there have always been, and are, many wonderful Texans who do not agree with them in the slightest. One of my favorites was now passed Molly Ivins. I think Texas will be back into the Democratic fold one day too, when Hispanics become the majority in that state, if not sooner. They are as divided as most states. The republican party would like us to think that they have monster majorities everywhere they hold sway now but the truth is nothing of the kind. They have gerrymandered themselves into majorities but their actual numbers are dropping by the year, with each election. Soon they'll be dinosaurs for real. I think I will rather enjoy that.

I watched part of the filibuster on Rachel Maddow. Totally awesome. She was called on her 3rd infraction at about 11:45 (what a pile of long horn bull shit that was!) after which another Democrat rose and asked a couple of parliamentary proceedural questions since she had been at her father's funeral and not present during the fillibuster. One of her comments was about the fact that the room was filled with mostly men and why should men be making such decisions for women. Then the roll call started but the noise and disturbance was so great that they could not finish before midnight.

Now slick Rick has called another special session with no discussion, no gallery ó just the vote. Not democratic at all. He is acting like a spoiled brat because Wendy Davis stood up to him.

Awesome!!!!!

Wendy is hero #1 and I called her office to thank her..... I-512-463-0110
The secondary heros are the folks in the balcony and the 72 year old frail woman that the police considered was a threat.
Another senator said her father had been killed so she missed some of the procedings and aasked WHY the women had to raise their hands to be heard and were overlooked when they did.
