The American Taliban is alive and well and living in the south, and just to fair can be found lurking in Ohio.

The NHS in ten years time. The unedifying spectacle of ambulance crews checking patient insurance standing before directing them to a hospital the patient has sufficient insurance cover to enter. Private hospitals cherrypicking the treatments they will carry out. Sink hospitals suffering under the pressures of coping with overwhelming numbers. Hospitals closing down. Community healthcare disappearing.Inordinately wealthy GPs having private health practices. This is already what happens in the USA. Welcome to private healthcare provision.

Senator Stein has his s*&%^ together! Good to know there are still some sane people out there in politics. The fees for paychecks ... Wal Mart actually has their own debit cards for people now. Many people who can't get bank checking accounts because of a poor credit rating (and not necessarily because they were bad with credit, many just don't have credit) can now go to Wally World (don't have to work there) and they will give you a debit card that you can do direct deposits on. The fees to use them are outrageous. The commercials they are now running make me puke. Thanks for the recap ... so glad it has cooled down!

Puzzle 4:19 Did anyone else get the point like I did?

NY Times I heard this on the radio last night. Good thing it wasn't the US! Could you see Chief Justice Roberts as temporary POTUS? Downright chilling! Mind, if Obama and Biden were both unavailable, that would leave Boehner. Another chilling thought!

MSNBC I am not aware of the same system here in Canada but it wouldn't surprise me if it is on the way. As a retired banker, I find this outrageous. This is nothing more than scamming the middle and low income earners. You can bet that the wealthy don't get this with their private banking packages.

Crooks and Liars It is bad enough that governments bury unrelated bills within other legislation. I know Harper does it, the US federal parties, especially the Republican/Teabaggers do it, and by this example, so does North Carolina. But likewise, why on earth does North Carolina need an anti Sharia law statute? All the NC Republican/Teabaggers are doing is whipping up fear and pandering to that ignorant, fear based populace. Good on this senator for calling a spade, a spade.

Cartoon No health care system is perfect, but public health care should never be sold off.

"There is nothing scary about authentic Islam or authentic Christianity. Followers of both coexist in peace with mutual respect. Extremists are another matter. There is no functional difference between the Taliban, Hezbollah, or Al Qaeda and Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity."

Haven't said this in at least a decade, but, "AMEN!" TomCat. "AMEN!"

That is a sweet deal for the banks and companies, to squeeze more out of the little guy who needs every dime he makes. Kudos to the NC senator who stood up for women.

Republicans are indeed scarier than Muslims! Especially southern Republicans.
