Almost fifteen years ago, I set my home page and have left it there ever since. I’m completely used to it. I took the Bing Challenge and Bing lost. It wasn’t even close. So for me to change my home page to anything but Google, would have required something very important. I changed my home page this morning.

Thanks for this TC – I completely concur – except that I abandoned Google around 18 months ago – granted others aren't as big, but some are more ethical, perhaps most, are more ethical! I look things up with DuckDuckGo – who do not stalk you and sell info about you to others. Only if they fail (which happens very occasionally) do I use Google.

"You can't escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." ~ Abraham Lincoln, one of the last few Republicans who made sense Climate change deniers can say it a thousand times but that won't make it so.
And boo hiss on Google....bravo to you, Tom, for changing your home page. Note to self not to use google any more...

Haven't used Google (I call it Oogle) for years. I loathed it then and I still loathe it now. Unfortunately, none of them are much better.....as long as Capitalism trumps everything else in this society, money will always win out over right and good. They are ALL selling us out to the highest bidders.
I have been using AVG Search for the last 3 years, never have a problem with it.....doesn't mean they aren't selling my info also.

I appreciate the information, TC, the great quote, Arielle and the comment about "As long as
Big Money runs the world..." ewoud.
It is sad, and ironic, that a company based so much on cutting technology (aka:science) would get into bed with these puppets of the power industry, which focuses on nothing but making MORE, giving not a damn for the impact on the culture which supports them.
Was Inhofe the clown who said that "There can't be such a thing as global warming, because God would not allow it?" Which of the Koch brothers, I wonder might have fed him that line?

Google search does seem best, but I have to admit I use care2 (when I can get it to work), ecosia, goodsearch and everyclick....hope some of my searches are truly creating donations to charities.....

Of course McTurtle would jump all over this because he is a senator from a coal state, and anything that Mr Obama tries to do, he loves to oppose. But where was he and is he when it comes to "Jobs, jobs, jobs!" for other states? Where is he when it comes to creating jobs in the clean energy sector? Nowhere to be found! I'll bet he has black lungs to match his black heart!
Daniel Shenton, Flat Earth Society President:
"For what it's worth, the Flat Earth Society doesn't have an 'official' position on climate change. Personally, though, I believe the evidence available does support the position that climate change is at least partially influenced by human industrialisation."
I think everybody is ahead of the Republicanus/Teabagger party because their position is solely an ideological position based on greed.
Keystone must be stopped dead in its tracks, and train transport of oil of any sort must be stopped.

Note: Google was the first on the list along with facebook on the NSA "release of information" willing to turn over all records. Then if you had noticed there was advertisements asking people to allow themselves to give them eye scans for better control of password protection o.0 wtf? that's better then fingerprint, and hand it over to google? UGH!

Thanks for the info, Tom. It's a rare occasion that I use google, since I'm so busy reading emails I've subscribed to, and following links, and coming here. But, I notice on the bottom of the page, when I click to open a new page, that "google" comes up anyway while the page is loading....and have wondered what that's all about. I'm no "techie" so I have no clue.
I will continue to sign petitions and send letters against dirty energy until the "green energy revolution" has won.

Listening to Mitch McConnell is "tantamount" to listening to a rabid squirrel!! When we will these guys realize that they have gotten rid of over half the trees on the earth and are destroying our oceans, both of which pull in carbon dioxide, at the same time they are putting out more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. They say it is a "natural" substance ... of course it is, but when you don't have any way of keeping it in check, and the things that take it in to give back oxygen are all being removed or are dying ... how can anyone be so stupid not to see the problem? Sheeesh!

Thanks for the post, Tom. And thank you to everyone who commented on all the (new to me) search engines. If we all use something other than Google, then perhaps we can get Google back on a better track, or put them out of business.

I hate to say this, but, I. Am. From. Oklahoma. It grates on my soul to think that one of the worst climate deniers is from my home state. He is an embarrassing idiot! He should be impeached! If I thought there were enough people here to support it, I would start a petition to do this. But there are so many idiots that don't believe it, there would be no sense in starting it!
So many people here think the sun rises and sets in this blowhard! I am ashamed.
If anyone could think of an idea to turn this state blue, I would be all for it! Any suggestions would be welcome!
