"It is a shameful thing that almost 50 years after the Voting Rights Act, now emasculated by Republican Injustices on SCROTUS, black families are talking to their children about how they can act around white people. Republicans see this as not being so uppity. I see this as second class citizenship. Shame!" TC – you took the words right out of my mouth – this is beyond dreadful!

Unless a person has grown up black, they have no idea what it is like - for the birdbrains out there declaring racism is over and done, I suggest you do the "Black Like Me" thing and try being an African-American for awhile.

So, the House goes on vacation AGAIN.... that's some job they have, isn't it? And they dare complain about people receiving welfare?

My sentiments also, Arielle. No racism...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... I cannot count how many times I hear the N word when I go out in public down here....but they're not racists.....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Can we just stop their paychecks every time they go on vaction??? PLEASE!!!!!!! What a waste of OUR MONEY. But you don't see them putting their pay and perks on the sequester chopping block now do you. They make me puke!!!!!! They ought to be forced to work 40 hour wokweeks like real people, 50 weeks of the year. Sickening.

AAAARRRRRRRGH....are we liking our Fascism yet????????

What difference does it make if they go on vacation or not? They don't do much when they are "in session" anyway except their continued voting to repeal Obamacare (has it been 39 times now). Such a spiteful way to spend their time and my tax dollars while they keep their Cadillac health care. The rest of the time they appear to think of more evil ways to disenfranchise the poor and down trodden while continuing their whoring ways for corporate pimps.

This is one of few chances you’ll get to witness me saying this about a Republican. Kudos to Bob Corker (R-TN).

I think its the heat TC!!

I think the cartoon is the best.......I have often wondered why the US public lets the GOP get away with their "patriotism" when they don't support the VA and seem to actually serve less themselves, or their families, with a few exceptions.......

It is about time someone in the republican party called out Mitch McConnell.

"After taking almost the entire month of August off, House leadership has penciled in just nine workdays for September."--Didn't Rachel Maddow tell us all this maybe two years ago? That they were taking something like a week off after every two weeks they "worked"?

As for Mitch McConnell, it's pretty bad when your fellow liars can't take it any more.

Well, Obama gave another nice speech....don't know how much impact it will have, if any. But, I understand that he had to do it. The day I will pay attention is the day he just gets sick and tired of the whole mess and lets the racist Corporate Elitists have it...I can dream anyway. I side with others when they say that at least if Congress isn't in session they can't be more destructive....but, agree with docking their pay, as well as benefits.
Big thanks and green star to Terrie for telling it like it is about our Fascist Empire.

With regard to knowing what it feels like to be black in America -

I believe this is what is sometimes called poetic justice. Yes, I'd rather have had real justice, but I will take whay I can get.

Thanks for the post, TomCat. As for the House; this seems to be their standard MO. It would be nice if we could figure out how to get them to actually work, but then we would wonder where the real House Representatives went. Hope your neighbors are quiet tonight.

Puzzle — 4:52 Dem fishes stink higher den herring 'n reduction!

NY Times — I can remember my mother saying to me when I was a child "Young lady, don't get uppity with me."

Uppity:Taking liberties or assuming airs beyond one's station; presumptuous; not yielding easily to persuasion or control.

So according to the second definition, it was probably justified — I was asserting myself and didn't want to submit to my mother's control. But the 1st definition rankles because it is about "class". Republicanus/Teabaggers just love to wage class warfare (among other wars) and have been clearly doing it for some years. It is clearly rank discrimination of the foulest kind. And it is this discrimination that has formed in the consciousness of young black men over generations, a feeling of "class culture" that they should never have had to endure.

“Am I wringing as much bias out of myself as I can?” he asked. “Am I judging people, as much as I can, based on not the color of their skin but the content of their character? That would, I think, be an appropriate exercise in the wake of this tragedy.”

Roll Call — Is it possible that there is a growing dissatisfaction with towing the party line without question and thus getting little done? Or is it that McTurtle has lost all credibility? There is no doubt in my mind that McTurtle is an "asshole that passes out a lot of shit!"

Daily Kos — Dock their pay for lack of work!

Cartoon — And now the Republicanus/Teabaggers who send the nation's children off to war want to cut their mecdical care and other benefits etc! Cut Republicanus/Teabaggers off from their gold=plated medical and benefits.
