I've seen bumper stickers that read "I don't believe the liberal media". Which is so funny, considering that it's the right that spewing most of the misinformation. The Teabaggers seem to be confused or are in total denial of real facts.

"I used to believe that marriage was more of a religious thing, and that civil unions for gay couples was a workable compromise, but I was wrong. As far as I know, in no state, not even Oregon, do civil unions confer all the rights and privileges enjoyed by married couples. Therefore this is not something states have the right to decide. It’s a basic human right."

I was there once too. Thought the same thing, let civil unions be the governmental standard and religions can do whatever they like in terms of marriage. But came to the same conclusion eventually. Government was NEVER going to give civil unions the same legal status as marriage and therefore gay marriage had to be the answer it IS a basic human right. We'll get there but not without some more kicking and screaming along the way. Liked the cartoon but think the words should say "we worshit you" as that is more their attitude in my opinion, they want theirs and don't care what kind shit they dump on the rest of us or the planet. Possibly the two most evil set of brothers to ever exist. Make Frank and Jesse James look like saints...

"GW ChickenHawk" ... good one, TC. Thanks for the laugh. It is no surprise to me that our military, where we should be at the highest level of near perfection, is failing. Our military is lacking in many, many ways. Bradley Manning showed us how troops have taken on a sort of "video game" mentality when firing at real people on the ground. People that obviously did not have the weapons they were described to have had. The rape that has been happening in our military ... 30 years ago, that could not have happened. My husband is ex military and he is appalled at how our military now operates compared to how things were when he was in. My son is career Army, and even he is disgusted with how so much goes on that absolutely should not be acceptable for military personnel. But really, if we look at the present state of this country, we should not be surprised at all that this is happening. When people are dumbed down into total complacency, when mediocre is rewarded in schools to make children feel special? Why would anyone strive to do excellent? I think this has slowly become the norm in this country since about 20 years ago. Seems like nearly nothing is taken seriously ... and that is what Bradley Manning was trying to tell the American people. And look what happened to him. This country is on the road to self destruction if some serious changes don't come about, because the ones who want this to happen have their feet in the doorway.

The disconnect ... I am wondering if there is just a certain group of people who prefer to believe anything the right says because they are racist homophobes. They will never vote progressive. Ever. Because they hate what it stands for. They could care less if the world is imploding ... they only care that they are superior (in their minds only, of course) and the left doesn't think they are. So they will fight anything the left says. Chris Hayes last night asked one of his guests if he should stop talking about an issue because then maybe the right would quit fighting it. He may have something there.

Sorry it is still so hot for you up there. I don't how you do those puzzles so dang fast! 3:51? Whoa.

Puzzle — 3:49 No Jerry, kick-a-poo joy juice! But I'll share!

NY Times — To me, marriage is marriage — the union of two people! In the eyes of the couple, if they are church goers, then they will want a marriage in a church or chapel, but they must still have the marriage license which is a secular document. If someone does not have a religious affiliation, for example atheists, in order to be joined, they must still have the marriage license which is a secular document. And of course there are always those that have no religious affiliation but think a church wedding is traditional so go that route. They too must still have the marriage license which is a secular document.

The common thread here — a marriage license which is a secular document.

This is my Canadian view, and here we don't draw a difference between being married in a "church" or in a civil ceremony by a marriage commissioner.

I sure hope that the couples win their New Jersey suit. With so many problems in the US, marriage equality should not be one of them. Pitter patter, let's get at 'er!

MSNBC — "Handling nuclear weapons is not something you can keep failing at. … When the nuclear weapons handlers are failing consistently, something really needs to change."

Well that is an understatement!. I thought that the US was supposed to be getting rid of nuclear weapons?

Since that 2007 flight with 6 nuclear missiles each capable of producing an effect 10 times larger than Hiroshima from Minot, ND to Loisianna was during the Bush régime, I wonder what the Baby Bush administration would have done had the unthinkable happened? Instead of blaming it on stupidity, I am sure they would have yelled very loudly "Al Quaeda terrorists"!

Alternet — It is the "in box effect". Get the same information, no matter fact or fiction, over and over again from multiple sources, and people believe it. In the case of a growing national deficit, it is all fiction! And this unholy turd of propaganda is brought to you by the Republicanus/Teabaggers and those that they have have managed to buy.

"The deficit is down 37.6 percent for the first 10 months of 2013. But half of Americans think it’s growing."

If you want good information, stick with people like Paul Krugman and Robert Reich who both can explain things in layman's terms.

I think people tend to believe this doom and gloom stuff as espoused by the Republicanus/Teabaggers because they make it sound complicated. They are counting on people feeling over whelmed by the information and "trusting" the very people who are telling them, discreetly of course, that they are not smart enough to understand. "We'll do the thinking for you." say the GOP propagandists.

Cartoon — Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum! Plutocratic scum! Their picture is going on my dart board! Did I mention that I am a damn good shot when it comes to having pictures of such low life to aim at?

Thanks to all. Kudos to Gene, Deb and Lynn. When Obama says his view evolved, I believe him, because mine did too.
