The Koch Brothers, and many of the other billionaires, who are the only people Republicans truly represent, hate Social Security. The problem is that, as Americans, you pay premiums throughout your working lives, and, upon retirement or disability, the money comes back to you in benefits. The Koch Brothers, and their Republican servants want your benefits to come back to them, not you. Enter our national treasure, Bernie Sanders.

Reminding myself to get on your Wisconsin - Walkerstein-10 days old thread and add my knowledge, Wisconsin -style. Had to get many links for you. Lots of stuff for you to look over, after all, Wisconsin is the plague of all evil I do believe. and is there anyone listening? Us Horton heres a who'sville who's are really sick of yelling all alone!

I will not buy any Koch products and I agree with Lynn, we should clone Bernie. He is without a doubt, one of the best senators to ever grace our political arena. He is the lion and the Repuklicons/TP's are just dung beetles (sorry dung beetles.) Twittered, fb and google shared. Thanks Tom.

Bernie Sanders is truly amazing, a national treasure indeed. It's telling that he is an independent. You should really get busy cloning this man (make a few female versions too, if you can ;-)) , fill a whole new party with them. and get rid of the old ones. Yes, the Democrats too, too many are also in the pockets of the 1%.

Well I am ahead of the game! There isn't a single product on that list that I use. I guess my inner voice is smarter than the Koch brothers and all of their "nothink tanks" put together. The ONLY thing that is bankrupt in this country is the morality of the republican party and the 1% who are together determined to create but two classes in this country, themselves and everyone else. And they don't care if everyone else dies off early. I am so effing tired of people who have NO qualifications of any kind posing as "experts". These fools go around interviewing each other on each others shows, writing forewards to each others books, quoting each other as their "proofs". That last one really annoys me as it has been a stalwart conservative trick forever. One of them makes some outlandish statement in print or on television, the next then says, "it has been reported that" with NO proof yet, mind you, just the first ridiculous lie, then the next says, "multiple sources are reporting that". And the next thing you know their "lie" has become "fact" in their world. Like Social Security is going bankrupt.
That is NOT how you prove a point, but it IS the only way the republican party and the 1% know how to try and they are good at it. If you repeat a lie often enough, people forget it was a lie to begin with. And, sadly, the American attention deficit disorder problem isn't limited to school children, much of the adult population is similarly afflicted. You have these 20 and 30 somethings, with not a lick of real world experience unless one counts licking the boots of the 1% as work experience, pontificating on things they know nothing about. Congress, each and every one since Social Security was created, has raided the trust fund to pay for all manner of programs and projects, leaving IOU's behind and STILL the program has a 2 trillion dollar surplus. I want that money paid back and I wouldn't mind using eminent domain to do so. Like, say, confiscating the Koch brother's properties since we know they are committing tax evasion (see how that works, now others just say, someone has said they are, and the next say, people are saying they, and soon the country will believe it. Of course, this has the advantage of starting out true, but the path is the same) and putting all that money into the Social Security and Medicare funds. Wouldn't that be fun? I think grabbing off, nationalizing, the big banks who created the 2008 crash on the grounds that they are incompetent fools and a danger to America would be a grand idea too. Solve our budget problems overnight. Oh, and my real dream, is to revoke their citizenship and set them on a boat that never lets them off. That was tried once before with one person, but hey, we're gonna need a bigger boat this time. :^).

Thanks Tom, I have an old list and think you may have added some I didn't know about. Sorry to see Lycra listed though! Bernie is a thorn in the sides of people like the Bros Koch and the rest of the evil empire running the GOP.

Good grief – I was just thinking "You know, I don't approve of cloning – but in the case of Bernie Sanders perhaps we should try!" – great minds think alike! Good for everyone who boycotts Koch products!
Gene - I wish I could give you another star but I have just given you a star for another really good post - I don't think the computer will let me! That is an exceptional post - even for your normal high standard (and I really would like to see it put into practice - well, I can dream!).
Thanks for this TC - I needed cheering up - Tony Abbott has just won in Australia's election and that means a heavy shift to the Right and that makes me sad for the world and for all my Australian friends.... - I needed to be reminded of Bernie, my hero who never gives up and is always ethical! Bless you TC!
I can't say that I do not buy Koch products and honestly none of us can. Some of those chemical products could be hidden within anything we buy. I think we make our protest by intentionally not buying Koch products.
One very small change would forever end any further discussion and threats about Social Security. Raise the taxable income limits. If everyone, yes every person paid into Social Security there would be no worry that some day in the future Social Security might be in trouble. The fund would always be leaps ahead of any baby booms, that could have been done in the fifties or sixties, it's not like we didn't know the baby boomers would be coming. That could be called strategic planning for the future, something the United States does very poorly.
No one defends Social Security with the passion, intellect and depth of knowledge as Senator Bernie Sanders.

Unfortunate for the average American there are too few like Bernie Sanders. In both Parties there are sell outs. Most in the Republican Party but the infiltration of Wall Street into Washington is very clear. They are all getting rich in Washington, they come from Corporate into the Elected positions, write the laws the way it benefits the Oligarchy, then when done they have another high priced position waiting for them or become a lobbyist. It is a disgrace but we don't have a Republic anymore. Bernie Sanders stands out so much for he is the last of the "true" Statesmen.

Congrats GENE, Many of us are on the same page. Comment re. ignorance of the 20-30 population is truly scary. I am appalled by the intellectual vacuum that exists in the USA. (especially in the Southern States.)
Of course the Repugs rely on ignorance to advance their causes..
Unfortunately I can Not come up with a CURE. As the saying goes. YOU CANNOT FIX STUPID.!( Also applies to our WONDERFUL representatives.)

Afraid Kit is correct. Yes, Lycra really hurts - especially if one must wear support hose. I'm good at avoiding the branded paper goods, but I wonder how many store brands are really made by Koch - and how one could find out.
Saturday September 7, 2013, 12:50 pm
I agree with Lynn S.
Went over the list of their products and other than Lycra that is available here in Canada I do not buy any of their products.
The Koch's have infiltrated Washington with $50 million dollars since 2005 to Oct. 2011.A country cannot be run by billionaires and have any kind of democracy.

Bernie has a huge share of the decency the right wing decided not to use.
I met him in St Louis at a media convention and was surprised to learn, because he's always so serious when you see him in clips, that he's a genuinely funny guy. Great sense of humor, but he knows that he only has seconds to make his case.
