It is my hope that the Democratic Party will chose someone more progressive than Hillary Clinton, but Republicans don’t seem to like her either. In fact, the latest meme to condemn her from Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians is that Hillary intends to be our first Lesbian President.

Agreed Tom! I would like Elizabeth Warren to be the candidate. Also Agreed... who cares what the Colossal House of Clowns, the GOP stupid mill has to say. This is just the latest sign that a waffle would be a better prez than the latest stoops coming out of the GOP. At least a waffle would do no harm.

You WHAT???!!! Why are Repuglicons so vilely, horribly, relentlessly PRURIENT!!! Oh they are so disgusting! First of all if a woman talks to a man they are having an affair (if a Repuglicon sees them) and now if they are associating with another woman they are having an affair?!!! Women of the world – if we leave it to the Repuglicons we will all be tarred with the same brush! Presumably they are chucking mud as there is something large that they want to cover up at the moment – I wonder what it is???

Green stars to everyone here...

Just the beginning of what they'll do and say if Hillary runs. Really, who cares what her sexual preference is anyway? It's going to get down and dirty because that's the only way the GOP knows how to play. Let's see who do they have to put out there? Um...Rubio (a proven liar), Cruz (seriously a wackadoodle), Christy (many rethugs don't like him, remember he hugged Obama), Bush (hell no, the name implies lying too).
There could be Republican women who would vote for Hillary too, just because she's a women. The GOP is deep doo-doo that's why they stink so bad.

This is not the first time this has been talked about. I guess to a republican, a strong, independent woman is automatically not feminine, so must be gay. I know many women that are not "frilly" and still are straight. I know a couple of gay women I tease and call them blonde Barbies, they are that conventional.

I like Hilary, I think Elizabeth Warren is doing a great job shaking up and reforming the Senate. Is it just awful of me to say I would like our president's to be less than retirement age?

It seems to me it's too early to speculate about 2016, but Hilary will be 69 and Warren 68, and Joe Biden 73.

Gene Jacobson (273)

"Since Fischer accepts pure speculation from whatever source as indisputable fact so long as it fits his agenda, it is no surprise that he now claims that “the bottom line is that if Hillary Clinton becomes president in 2016 she will not only be our first female president she could be our first lesbian president,"

But, of course. A strong, independent woman with a mind of her own, what else could she possibly be but "butch"? Look, ANYTHING the American Family Association says is innately a lie. I've never known them to be correct about anything. Right? Oh yeah, they are very far right. This is the Christian Taliban at its finest. The American family is composed of more than a MALE member, but not according to this group. Everyone else in the family is property, only men are smart enough to exercise power. It just disgusts me the way reich wing theological "think tanks", and annoys me the way fascists always manage to co-opt the word freedom into their official descriptions of themselves when they are always interested in anything except freedom. It is as if they think people will be so mesmerized by the title, they will not notice the excrement produced by the organization. So it is with the American Family Association.

I, too, would much prefer someone other than Hillary. I think she was once more progressive than she is now and I want very much a very progressive President elected in 2016, along with progressive majorities in both Houses of Congress and I think those reachable objectives, especially if the republicans continue on as they are now. I mean, they act in the House as if they have some sort of mandate from the people to repeal the HCA. But the vote was 230-189, hardly a stinging rebuke, even less so when one also knows it was straight party line. Now this is Jon Stewart and it is from 2010, and it is even a bit long, but it is hilarious and still so very true today. The republicans held a convention in Hawaii, a state which has had for 40 years, government run health care which covers virtually everyone. And the gop didn't know it. Enjoy a giggle at their expense. The Apparent Trap. Great reporting just never goes out of style.

I'm hoping for Elizabeth Warren as prez.... of course, she probably eats children or smokes crack or whatever the GOP decides to stamp on her if she should run. I won't care if she's a lesbian purple people eater - she'd be better than anybody the GOP could possibly come up with.

This country is so dysfunctional between the racists bigots, religious radicals and homophobes!! Why is it sooo important to focus on gays on not the poor, homeless, education, science and healthcare!?!? As long as it's not a republican I'll be happy I hope to never see them in power again!

Hillary CLinton has been called FAR WORSE than just GAY maybe l because she has stood up for children and women's issues since law-school.. and called the Champion of Women .......I guess that makes her GAY in the eyes of the stupids.
Republican men can't seem to go a single election cycle without insulting women and their total obsession with sex disregarding everything else that might be important ..... when they make laws for vaginal probes and trying to get rid of Planned Parenthood. To get rid of the GOPTP would be the greatest blessing this country has had in this generation.

Bryan Fischer: "[voters don't want to] "elect an old woman to the Oval Office … She's just going to be too old, going to be too saggy, gravity will have done too much of its mojo on her; she's just going to look old and tired next to virtually anybody that the Republicans run out there":

It seems that the Republicanus/Teabagger Saint Ronnie Ray-gun was elected to the office of president at age 70 years and displayed a passion for jellybeans, even before his dance with Alzheimer's Disease. And he definitely was not the brightest bulb on the block. I don't recall anyone being concerned with his looks and age. Fischer is definitely a sexist and misogynist.

Who cares what her sexual appetite is? Can she perform the duties of the POTUS? Has she got the credentials to lead the country? My Fischer's thinking, a woman at 40 or 50 years would be incapable because they would have started that slow decline to saggy and old. Fischer better not look in the mirror.

Wasn't that a plot for a porn film? I know that it is very common for Conservatives, whilst railing against such things tend to know a lot more about porn than they suggest. Still, this story came from the UK News paper The Daily Mail in which..the most time-efficient way to read the Daily Mail is to read the headline, the first paragraph, the last paragraph and just interpolate the rest from experience. The old gay / bisexual / do it up against the wall with sailors three at a time smears are always the tactic of the unimaginative Right Wing, who really don't know hypocrisy when they are being blown off by a teenage crack addicted rent boy in a wash room.

It would make no difference if Hillary were Gay {or, more probably, Bi}.
She would be just as good, or just as bad, take your pick.
She would also be SLANDERED, whether she was actually Gay or Bi or "straight".

It would be GREAT to have a Female, Gay or Bi President - but it would be GREATER to have one of any gender or sexual orientation, who put THE PEOPLE, AND NOT THE CORPORATIONS, FIRST.
Not holding my breath on that one.

But if Hillary WAS elected, it would be more important for her, as it was for President Obama, to be a GAY ALLY, than whatever her preference in bedroom antics was.
The Rethugs are going to press this "Lesbian" thing for all it's worth - and it might just BACKFIRE on them. Especially with young voters - and women!

At this moment I'll commit to voting in November 2016 for whomever the Democratic party nominates in August 2016. If it's Hillary, fine, if it's someone else, that's fine too. Until I see a better candidate actually announce or make moves that direction, I'm with Hillary. Biden isn't enough better to move me and nobody else is making enough movement that direction.

Who Cares?

But at best, given Hilary is married with a child, she would be BISEXUAL, not gay. People should at least have a little bit of sex education under their belt before they head off to slander someone's character any way they can, or run the risk of appearing completely ignorant.

While it is true that I dislike Hillary because she is a free-market capitalist, a member of the wealthy 1%, and something of an MIC warmonger...I don't see that it is anyone's business what or who she does in her free time. I think the world would be a better place if people at least had some happiness in their private lives. It is important for people to love and be happy with whomever they love in the moment. Sexuality is a spectrum; the experience of sexuality is far more fluid than our uptight culture is willing to admit.

For G-d's sake, Obama;s sexual preference has undershadowed his administration from his first term.
Why haven't we heard from Jeremiah Wright? Why? He has been silenced in Obama's first term for speaking publically about Obama's days in Chicago.

They have had no sense of decency since Karl Rove advised Dubya. So what if she were lesbian, that would be a win win, a woman and a lesbian in office! Who cares about the sexual orientation if the person does a good job?

Thanks to all except the two.Republicans who seem to think it IS a big deal. The claim that 80% agree with one of them is ludicrous, because polls across the country say that Americans think LGBT folk should be trerated no differently than everyone else.

Diane O. (194)

Quite frankly, I believe it is the character of Bill and Hillary that is questionable. The lies, deception, lying under oath, Whitewater and it's implications, the suicide of Vince Foster and now Benghazi.

I can promise you that if Hillary and Bill were republicans you would be hanging them by their feet. Bill Clinton, while president, was disgusting when his sordid affair with Monica Lewinsky came out and Hillary defended him at every turn knowing it was's the lies. It's the deception. Why didn't Hillary just come out and say "I am bi-sexual." Bill was impeached for lying under oath. Hillary hasn't told the truth on Benghazi.

Personally, I don't believe Hillary has any semblance of a chance to win an election in 2016 and it won't be because the world now knows she is bisexual. It will because of her lies. She can't be trusted. I believe her credibility will be on the line when Americans vote. because voters will ask "What else about her don't we know? It won't be because she enjoys engaging in sex with both men and women.

What Hillary needs to do is tell the truth if she is going to run for President. If there's nothing wrong with her being bisexual then she should stand before the American people and say that Bill has sexual affairs outside their marriage and so does she with other women and perhaps other men. It's the truth we want. We can handle the truth. What we cannot handle are the lies....the secrets. If Hillary finds nothing wrong with it why keep it a secret all of these years?

Diane O. (194)

The American taxpayers....the voters care. We need strong leadership in our country. We need to elect people we trust who have nothing to hide and will tell the truth as the President of the United States. We haven't had that in decades and our country desperately needs a leader than the American people will respect and support based on their character and their ability to get America back on her feet again.

We simply need a President we can trust to tell the truth.

Here is a fact for ya Diane, no matter who is in the White House, if that person has not pledged allegiance to the TP, you will still be whining and complaining. You will again be writing disparaging comments about her character, talking about his level of competence as if you personally had any knowledge of what it takes to run this country. As long as the next president, be it a man or woman is not a part of the floundering, dysfunctional ideas of the republican/TP you will dislike them from day one. "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

Diane O. (194)
Sunday September 22, 2013, 7:06 am
Here is a fact for ya Kit, in your doesn't matter to me if my candidate of choice is supported by The Tea Party or not. You haven't witnessed me out here stumping for The Tea Party other than to state why they organized in the first place.

Obviously you do "give a damn" or you would not have commented. You can't stand the fact that I call a spade a spade. Hillary is a certified liar. I can promise you I don't care who she sleeps with. I have no interest in her bisexual orientation. It's the ongoing deception.....and it just keeps rolling along gathering more dirt.

I will support the candidate who tells the truth and doesn't have a trail of "lies" behind them.

Hillary Clinton simply isn't presidential material. I also do not believe our country is anywhere near ready to elect a woman president. Hillary showed her extreme lack of control addressing the Benghazi questions. Now we are reading that she is bisexual....not a peep from her about this over the last several decades...deception. What else is she not telling us?

If Hillary runs in 2016 the liberals will simply be handing the right a colossal win. Hillary has too much sordid baggage along with her impeached "lying under oath" husband. Our country deserves better.

I really hope that some day SOON that being gay, straight, bi-sexual or transgendered is a non-issue for anyone in public life or not in public life for that matter.

Lindsey O. (19)
Sunday September 22, 2013, 8:10 am
I don't think that unconfirmed rumors determine what Ms. Clinton's sexuality is or may be. I wouldn't vote for her, but her potential sexual habits wouldn't have anything to do with that. And if she happenes to be lesbian or bi-sexual I wouldn't consider her failure to publicize that fact to be something which should be held against her (many politicians hide things that really aren't anyone's business but their own but which would prejudice potential voters against them.) In any event, I very much doubt any national candidate or politician got to that level without some serious lying along the way. National politics isn't for the faint-hearted or the pure in heart - it's a dirty, rough-and-tumble business. The "art of the possible."

Theodore Shayne (56)
Sunday September 22, 2013, 8:12 am
Actually it's been a long standing fact that both Bill and Hilly are bisexual. A lot of our leaders and elites are.
The real issue should be her politics and her catastrophic negligence on matters such as Benghazi, and prior scandals such as Whitewater.

Theodore Shayne (56)
Sunday September 22, 2013, 8:24 am
The Tea Party started out stumping for many of the things we all want such as free open market; fair wages and lower taxes plus a corporate tax that reflects a fair percentage to be paid by all. There is nothing wrong with that. It was when the GOP sent in Palin and Glen Beck to co-opt the Tea Party back into the Corporate Fold that the change in their mandate occurred. Both major parties are crooks and controlled by a Corporate Elect which is why I stand for independents such as Bernie Sanders and intelligent women such as Elizabeth Warren. It's also the reason I am totally in favor of ridding the electorate of the Electoral College; repealing the Money Control Act of 1980; reinstituting Glass-Steagall and closing down the Delaware corporate tax loopholes used by many corporations and investment firms to avoid paying taxes representative of their earnings. I also believe that there should be no corporate or lobbyist campaign donations. Remember Al Gore caught with his hand in the PRC cookie jar inside a Buddhist temple during an election year? I'm sure there are many more such instances on both sides of the house.
