Thanks TC – so very sorry that you have what seems to be half a dozen unbearably noisy and apparently lunatically inconsiderate neighbours! To be constantly woken is utterly hellish – you have my deepest sympathies, I wish there was something I could do to help!

I bet there was some gloating going on in the oval office, behind closed curtains, but I agree with you TC, Obama has shown little glee in public. He's done a wise and very admirable job in keeping the gloating to himself, coming across very 'presidential'. It would have given the Teabaggers just another reason to hate him and now he really has given them nothing at all.

Boy, you Americans can go and give the Russians, Africans and those ex-Russian satellite states some crash courses on how to rig an election and not be shy about it. This is such blatant election fraud that it boggles the mind that nothing much can be done about it. Get those voters who were purged against their wishes to pay Cuccinelli a visit and and camp out on his lawn a few days and get him to also resign from the committee.while their at it.
Fabulous cartoon!

Sorry about your neighbor issues Tom and hope that new apartment you mentioned awhile ago comes to fruition.

I think Obama has been smiling behind closed doors and how could he not? In public he is standing tall and being Presidential as Lona says. I loved it when he told them if they didn't like how things were going, wanted to change things, then win an election. One of his best comments on this whole fiasco yet.

On the Cuch, as a typical rethuglican, they'll cheat and lie to win, it's the only way they know.

Sometimes I really wish Andy's satire was real. A national day of gloating was in order, sure we would have lots of whining and squealing from the right, but hey - we here that daily.

TomCat, get yourself some ear protection from a gun store and give your neighbors some of their own medicine. Turn your own electronics up very loud as soon as theirs are off. It is true that fighting fire with fire can just result in a huge blaze, but you need to teach them a wee lesson.

Sorry, too, about your neighbor issues, Tom, perhaps you could hire a small marching band to play outside their doors during the wee hours to make your point.

I don't find it surprising in the least that Ken trails in VA, nor that he trails by 20% with women. He is the most anti-woman politician in the country. Did he honestly think they would not notice? He and Governor Ultrasound are despicable human beings with long track records to prove it. Low turnout does plague off year elections but I am not as sure as Rachel that this will be true in Virginia this year. Largely because the state has been front and center since Governor Ultrasound gave up his shot at the VP slot so he could focus on those ultrasound plans. And Ken is to the right of him. Considerably. I do agree there should be a purge in VA and think there will be one, but not of voters, of Republican fools. As for Ken's office defending the purge, well that is as clear a case of conflict of interest as I've ever heard of. A conflict large enough to get whatever decision they make thrown out by a Federal judge and for my money, that lack of judgment, of basic honesty, ought be cause for disbarment proceedings against Ken himself. Just so he can't go back to being a lawyer after he loses. I think a job handing out pamphlets or making Egg McMuffin's more his speed actually. Just somewhere he can't actually hurt more people than he already has.

New Yorker: Great post, as well as the cartoon. Hopefully, your experiences with your goofy neighbors is coming to an end...as you will be moving soon. Sure hope so, though not quick enough, right? Prayers to you at the CEO, I am in the back praying for the Texans, however, it's not good. Take care, rest up, and have a good weekend, Tom.

I'm with Kit, Tom - give your neighbors a touch of their own medicine - quite possible they have no idea what a nuisance they are.
I loved that the President said, "there are no winners" - W would have declared "Mission Accomplished" and gloated for a year. But if my arms were a lot longer, I'd be patting the President on the back for a job well done.
He's a class act.

Daily Kos — As a manager, my preferred management style was collegial. But I learned too that there were times when I had to be a "dictator" because the situation demanded it. It seems that Mr Obama has learned this lesson now. Has Harry Reid grown a pair? I doubt it. So Mr Obama will have to continue to monitor the situation more closely that he is want to do, but the American people will benefit.

The New Yorker — My guess is that there is no time for gloating because the obstructionists are onto their next project while keeping January 15 and February 7, 2014 in mind. There is a lot going on, not the least of which are 2014 midterm elections.

MSNBC — Every time I hear the name 'Cuccinelli' I think of the entertainer Charo and her little 'dance' to cuchi-cuchi! Those two could not be further removed from each other. Very telling that the gender gap is so large, but not surprising. And how very Republicanus/Teabagger of him to do a purge so close to election time. It is so obvious what he is doing — disenfranchising 40,000 people with the expressed purpose of voter fraud prevention. His real purpose is not voter fraud prevention but election fraud enabling for the Republicanus/Teabagger party. And then there's at least one conflict of interest in the handling of the Democrat party law suit. This is absolutely shameful and why, even at state levels, election administration has to be taken out of the hands of partisan politics.

Cartoon — . . . only the booby prize!

My sincere sympathies for your problems, TomCat, and welcome (if that's the word I want) on your membership in the National I Hate My Neighbors Club. My brother, who used to be completely unsympathetic when I complained about my neighbors, got to join the club about ten years ago when his downstairs neighbor started playing his stereo so loud my brother couldn't leave anything on his counters. (They'd vibrate off.)

Have your lovely neighbors started the car door slamming marathons yet? Some of mine are going at it right now. (Suddenly, I don’t feel guilty any more about accidentally setting off my car alarm on my way to work at 5 a.m. the other day.)

(YES it was accidental.) Funny how it works--I've moved four times since coming to live in this lovely city (she said through clenched teeth). Every time I've moved, I've put more distance between myself and my neighbors. It just keeps getting worse . . .

On another topic, your cartoon reminded me of a letter I read about on Daily Kos a couple of days ago.

4:18. TC PLEASE take care of yourself. You are obviously not at the top of your form today.

Re Andy - Agree with Patty too much class. But also, he is working hard - and it must take a lot of effort - not to display any human reaction that the Rethugs could criticize. This is why they have to make stuff up. I don't always agree with him, but I always admire his keeping it rational.

Cartoon says it all, doesn't it?

TC, not every day, but about half the time lately, I am having trouble posting to your site. I put it in and submit, everything is there, but it doesn't post. I'm not ignoring you.

And, spammer flagged.

Thanks TomCat, but sorry about your noisy neighbors ! Makes it hard to write. Pres. Obama & The Dems. have good reason to "gloat". Yes..Repubs. need to be flushed & the best flushing tool is VOTING them out in 2014 & 2016 !!! As an avid viewer of MSNBC & The Maddow Show, I am well aware of "The Cucc"...now there is a true RWNJ !!! Who will do anything he can think of to win...but I'm sure Terry will "flush" him !

As always, love the 'toon, Cat Man. Sorry about your resident idiots (neighbors), I have had many over the years but usually when they go loud like yours.......well, I can't write it here, ya know whuddImean, Vern.....

Let's just say that, within a month or so, they'd move.

The Prez should gloat, but, being the MAN he IS, he wouldn't stoop to that. I respect that in a real man, which he is.

The Cooch......whatta winner, that on. Sigh........another PRE-Neanderthal. He needs to lose BIG, and I think he will.

Hi Tom I was thinking (I'm a progressive we have that ability) I know most places have noise ordinances you might look into that as a last resort good luck with people who have no consideration for others sometimes the only way to get their attention is to have them held accountable by the authorities

TomCat S. (286)

Thank you both.

Gary, when you love in the slums, they tend to ignore noise ordinances.
