According to common wisdom, both sides have abused the filibuster, and to a small extent itís true, but Democrats only filibustered extremists, and the equity Republicans are now claiming is a complete lie. One glance at the above chart proves that. So, although it does not go far enough, Harry finally did use his ObamaBalls!

Yippee !!!!! Now let's apply this to EVERYTHING the Senate wants to do, well the majority of them. Now we just need to vote out the Repugs from the House. Folks...get that paperwork done in the Red states to VOTE. We have a year to prove that Repug tactics will NOT keep us Democrats from Voting. We ALL live in the same nation. EVERYONE needs to work TOGETHER !!!!!

Get those balls stapled firmly in place, Mr. Reid, because you will need them again soon. But the Democrats are finally on the offence and that is the best thing that has happened in a long time. If they hold this position long enough, the Republicans will be rendered harmless.
The next step is extending this to the SCOTUS, because the gang of five must be rendered harmless too as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, a Teabagging, brown-shirted controlled congress will remain a do-nothing but obstruct congress until the Moderate Republicans can push out the fascists. And until we can get big money out of our political system, the 1% will continue to ruin this planet.

Under past administrations the filibuster was used when there was something verifiable of concern about the candidates fitness to do the job. This period of history's filibuster hasn't had that aspect but rather a preventing the agency or courts from being able to function as intended by law due to the vacancies--the antithesis of the responsibility for governing and thus reform became essential. May there be noticeably less interference with functioning hereafter.

I'm glad to see that Mr. Reid is getting positive changes done, and it's a great start.

I laughed out loud when Mitch McConnell was standing there in dismay and wonderment and said "we'd pay"! I don't know why HE is saying that - he won't be around in 2014~ HA!

"For the first time in the history of our republic, Republicans have routinely used the filibuster to prevent President Obama from appointing an executive team and from appointing judges," Reid said. "The need for change is so, so very obvious. Itís clearly visible. Itís manifest we have to do something to change things."

About damn time. Believe me, my feelings about this are a LOT stronger than that but kids might read this. The chart was nice and proof, but the real proof came out when Mitch McConnell said the only real agenda the republican party has was to make Obama a one term president. That is ALL they have done since 2008. They've offered not a whit of meaningful legislation, they have done nothing but obstruct, obfuscate and lie; all in the name of ideology. This is the worst, absolute worst, set of Congressional sessions in history. And history will so record it. Never have so many done so little for such large salaries and perks. They don't even pretend they have an agenda other than the extremism of the tea party with its war on everything and everyone who isn't part of the 1%. And this move was LONG overdue. I know Democrats worry, the tables can be turned, well, fine, if they ever lose their majority perhaps they should be, but I honestly don't see that happening. The country is disgusted with the republican party by a very large margin and they should be. There will be no fallout from this move other than the tears of the jackazzes who call themselves republicans in the Senate. Finally, we get to move forward on installing judges who understand what the word compassion means. Now let them get to work and DO it. The end of the filibuster is cause for celebration the whole country over. And I believe I will dance a little jig, later. For now, I'm just atingle at the prospect of getting something DONE in the Senate. Finally.

Be berry careful, Mr Turleman is huntin' wabbits. True enough the turtle man is facing primaries, bet he and Lindsey Graham both thought they were riding the wave till they died in office. Speaking of dying in office, isn't about time we set a retirement age? When Strom Thurmond died at 100 it was only months after he finally retired. We all realize that these are not tough jobs, but they could at least fake it and retire by 75.

If you have not already done so, send a "thank you" to Harry Reid.

This went through so fast it was done before people finished signing petitions to do it Ė or even commenting here that it should be done. I got "breaking news" emails from three newspapers (and this situation and similar ones are exactly why I subscribe to those) before I got Jeff Merkley's email Ė he was the fourth. If we hadn't had snow, and if I wouldn't've needed crutches ot a wheelchair to do it, I'd've been dancing in the street.

From the AlterNet article: ""Senate Republicans have been very, very fair to this president," McConnell said." Huh. Thinking of their behavior the last four years . . . To paraphrase Douglas Adams, This is obviously some definition of "fair" that I was previously unaware of.

The chart showing the number of filibusters plainly shows it has been used strictly to obstruct Pres. Obama. About time Harry showed what he could do.

McConnell is a bag of dried dung, and if he told a truth would disappear in a puff of dust. OOOOH, somebody, quick, ask him his name!
The seal is a total gas!!
These wannabe adults can not take responsibility for the consequences of any action they take, unless it involves putting money in their bank accounts (overseas?). If they had not pushed the envelope so often and hard, this would not have been needed!
As it is the Dems ought to take full advantage of it.
Before Bush left office, the putz sprinkled Washington with appointees...but that's okay, because they will all be leaving when the Rapture comes-don't believe me? Just ask Jews for Jesus, they know, because Bush told them so.
