Puzzle — 3:18 Something fishy about this one!

NY Times — With the Republicanus/Teabaggers lurking in Washington and so many state capitals, there can only be a policy of "take no prisoners" if citizen centred government is to happen. Would not surprise me to see the Republicanus/Teabaggers try to deny tax refunds. . . . well except to corporations and the 1%.

Upworthy — Free Willy! Whales, indeed all wild animals, were never meant to live in captivity. Seems to me that the humans in "Planet of the Apes" didn't like living in captivity either. It is bad enough that we are too often held captive by our own foibles.

Daily Kos — Because I have been largely absent, I did not hear that the Virginia AG recount had gone to the Democrats. AMEN! I knew the governor's seat had changed which is so good for Virginia. Now maybe Virginia can shake itself loose from the unconstitutional abyss it was in. Good on Herring for not upholding the ban on same sex marriage. Now for the anti woman reproductive rights laws signed in by ex-governor Ultrasound!

Cartoon — You look like I feel right now. Threw out my neck somehow so haven't slept for 3 days, not that I didn't try.

Personal Note — I am hoping to walk the Alzheimer's Walk for Memories again this year which is 26 Jan 14. I probably won't be able to walk the whole 5 km because of reinjuring my back at the beginning of December, then clipping my tailbone on Catmas Day, and now screwing up my neck (and I didn't even try) making some movements more difficult and painful. Think good thoughts for no rain.

I hope you got through that tough day of meetings, TomCat. Being on the road is hard as your adorable cartoon shows, and you shouldn't let it interfere with grooming. Felines are very particular about that, I know.

It doesn't surprise me at all that te GOP is sending 'alarm letters' on how the government is running out of money to borrow faster than expected. It just makes you wonder what is behind it. Are they just stirring up things because they have no better ideas to put the Democrats and President under pressure or is this part of a much larger plan that they've been working on during the last couple of months? They've done it before so I wouldn't put it pass the Teabaggers to plan another coup like the close down to try and force down some major cuts in social security, SNAP, Medicare, and tax cuts (as Lynn said) down the oppositions throat and of course try another stab at Obamacare.

When I was young I had great respect for those marine centres that 'saved animals like dolphins and killer whales and had them perform because they liked doing it so much'. So much more has become known through research that I now know better and think that all animals are better of in the wild (unless they are on the brink of extinction because there is no wild for them left) and never should never be made to perform for entertainment. There should be sanctuaries for rescued animals, where animals who can not be returned after rescue can spend their lives comfortably. Let people go and see them and be educated so money for their upkeep comes in, but be honest about it and don't make them believe that this is the best nature has to offer. The way Seaworld and others capture en keep animals to perform purely for entertainment it abuse and should be prosecuted.

Good on ya, Mark Herring, Virginia has much brighter prospects now you're in office. We hope to hear more positive news from this State soon.

Thanks for highlighting the VA changes which should continue as their special election flipped the majority in their Senate to DEM, too.

The budget warnings are scary--we do indeed need to keep the pressure on the keep Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid out of any negotiations on borrowing limits.

Reminds of PR during some college campus tours--tour guides are given scripts for their jobs anywhere and may or may not know how untrue elements of what they are paid to say are.

Sorry motel failed to provide expected standards TC.

4:29, missed it. Would whoever caught this fish please give it to that poor bedraggled TC so he can get a little nourishment? Better than letting it live at Sea World.

I think more Democrats have grasped the need for the safety net, and perhaps more importantly the need to expand it, which has changed the conversation some already. This does not mean I am not worried!

I got the email from Mark Herring and was so glad to have something in my inbox to make me smile. That recount was tense and the final margin stilll so small he would have an excuse to lie low. I am so proud of him for this statement. (Also, the Virgina State Senate now has a Democratic majority - Jennifer Wexler won her special election. Can we do this nationally?)

Time: 3:48 - very fishy!

Unemployment insurance is the difference between having a place to live and eviction, providing a meal or going hungry. How the most basic needs of our citizens becomes a partisan issue is beyond logic. This is the duty of Congress, not another in a long line of issues to avoid. SNAP is used to feed children and the elderly, Social Security for many; now that their pensions are gone, is the only form of income they have. Why is this even being discussed beyond this compulsive need to privatize the entire country. This issue of privatizing is how we allowed the 2007 - 2008 crash. The government most definitely serves a function, and that function can not be replaced by private business. We already have too many examples of companies abusing the privilege.

Sorry TC - I was hoping this might be a fun trip for you.

Sorry about the accommodations. That can make a trip feel very rotten. Hopefully, the reason you went will be a success.

Marineland, Sea World ... all lies. So sad. So many people have been injured. A top trainer killed in Orlando. The whales/dolphins aren't "rescues" ... they were bought from people taking them from their pods. No better than a zoo that captures wild animals so that people can gawk at them. Should be illegal. Blackfish is a really good documentary. It's on Netflix now.

I really, really want a Dem (or an Independent) to tell Congress (the House) why it is that we MUST pay for things we have already purchased. That is just how it goes. You cannot charge TWO wars and then say "nope ... not going to pay for them". And, since it was the "poor" who gave of their lives and lost family members, the "rich" can be the ones who pay the monetary damages. Not to mention it is the rich who would have benefited from being allowed to do business in those war areas, after we had won (but we couldn't really win - everyone knew that but the rich) The WARS are what have caused this country to have such a huge deficit. Not Social Security "insurance" pay outs. Not Medicare "insurance" pay outs. Not unemployment "insurance" payouts. Corporations are enjoying paying almost NO income taxes. A graph of who pays what to this government tells the story. We all know these things. I want to know WHY no politician will tell this to the Republicans so that everyone can hear it loud and clear. Like maybe a President in his States of Union address?

Hope you stay rested, TC. Good luck with your meetings

I hope you had a better day today and get home safely.

The NY Times: I am sure the Republicans will make lots of threats, but after the last shutdown many of them are in trouble at home. They need to remember that no matter how much money they get from lobbyists, they still have to get re elected.

Upworthy: I hope how soon more peopel DO quit supporting this criminal abuse. Sharing this one on Facebook.

Daily Kos: I hope Virginia continues to see more improvement. I was born there and still have family there, I would like them to live in a better environment.

Cartoon: This poor kitty looks sick of being on the road.

Love your picture on the coach TC – though I hope you are looking a bit less frazzled by travel! Am praying hard that you will survive without another flu bug to flatten you – one's defences against germs get weaker the more exhausted one gets, as I'm sure you know…

Surely the Bagger-Fascists won't be stupid enough to try to pull another shut down OR try to cut SS/SSDI/Medicare/Medicaide and think they will survive.....do they....That would pretty much kill them off at the polls this time around.

All marine mammals should be and are supposed to be FREE in the WILD. I have not and will not ever support ANY such place like SeaWorld. And it really bothers me to see any animals/reptiles/apes/etc in zoo's that will not and do not take care of them. Zoos are just not an adequate place a far as size or diet needs for any animal that was meant to be wild. I wish they could all be shut down. Buit that's not gonna happen.

I love it when Democrats/Progressives WIN and then DO something about the messes that Fascists leave behind....good on Mr. Herring. Now...if we could only turn the rest ofthe country Progressive Blue......I know, I'm dreamin again.....sigh.

Love the 'toon, Cat Man. Hope you look and feel better now! LOL Ya look frazzled in the 'toon.

If they so much as pretend to do
another shut down, they will be
definitely signing their eviction
notices with the public.
First time in a while I've gotten
close to average. Not clowning...
