Congrats on getting your tax return in on time and that it didn't cost you anything elese but time and aggravation. You must be of two minds about this, TomCat: not having to pay taxes must be a relief, but it also means you never had much to start with. Good thing then your living conditions have improved.
Now get some sleep, this 'all-dayer' has turned you black all over.

3:38 I was enjoying the temperate breeze and the sunshine too much to speed up! But I had lots of sunblock SPF 60 on. It was a great getaway after going to the dentist. This little pussy cat does not like going to the dentist but at least there were absolutely no issues . . . just the cleaning.

BTW, noticed that the average is now 7:22. Must be lots of people with puzzle issues.

Glad the dreaded taxes are done! That's a load off eh! I have to have mine and my mother's done by 30/04/14

4:55 and the average is back down to 4:45. There are so many pieces that look so much alike that there is some luck involved; if it can fit in 3 places it is luck whether you try the right plae first or last. And some of us do have recalcitrant mice.

IRS - You not only turned solid black, but also frazzled and grumpy! Last year I made a point of taking a small 401(k) distribution with the maximum withheld to make sure I would see some kind of a refund. Now I know I don't need to do that. I am with you on where the money goes. But the IRS is not responsible for where it goes, only for where it comes from (not that they do that perfectl;y either but they are under a lot of pressure from goons). It's Congress we need to reform (and we all are working on that).

Sorry I have been absent for a while. Some health issues and a trip to Newberg, Oregon. I am sure you know where that is, Tom. Had a great time visiting with my step-daughter and friends. Will strive to do better.

Kudos for getting done and earlier than the deadline; black cat a great choice to commemorate.
Sorry other people's plans interfered with your own.

Time 3:50 that was enlightening. (*Guffaw*)

Doesn't everyone just love this time of the year? The birds are singing, flowers blooming and those of us who do pay taxes get to deal with IRS. I think I would rather go to the dentist have them hold the Novocaine. More money for the FAT CAT non tax paying corporations and mega wealthy, who manage to get subsidies and not pay taxes. No wonder they love this country.

Have great day TC and all - don't forget April 15 is coming on strong. (Welcome back Dotti)

Thanks everyone.

Jo, I hear you about Infernal Revenue. They do a necessary job. However, so do undertakers, and I have no desire to see one of them professionally either.

Lynn are Canadian tax returns so Gawdawful complex as US?

Dotti, I wisy you had touched base. Newberg is coffee range.

I don't pay taxes because of poverty. Bahamas lighthouse puzzle time - 4:23. It's one of those puzzles that is almost self solving!

TC, if I have all my mother's tax forms re pension etc, I can do hers in about 30 minutes, from computer entry to electronic filing. Mine take a little longer, maybe 45 minutes because I have more healthcare expenses. If I had a business, it would take me longer. We don't have all the expense deductions etc that you Americans do. For example, we cannot claim mortgage interest unless we take out a mortgage specifically for investment purposes. The government just announced that there is a security glitch in their programme so nobody can file online until at least the end of the weekend. I will have to wait until I return from Toronto on 28/04/14 to electronically file.

with respect to infernal revenue....besides getting rich/greedy to pay their fair %age I want to see individuals have more choice on where the money about we let Congress decide how half of tax income is used, but we can individually have a page that says how we want to divide up our own tax payments......then I wouldn't pay for the military industrial complex or Big Pollution....

"Infernal Revenue" is so right - Ridiculous that people who have low incomes have to file at all - seems if you are old, have no big bank accounts in the Caymans or anywhere else, and it's been that way for years, you could just say "same as before" and cut back on a lot of aggravation.

I do not enjoy tax time, I'd rather run laps than do the paperwork for the IRS. But...I'm glad that you got that out of the way, and hope that a good Cat Nap is in order. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.
