I am going through a crisis right now but to think that CBS has declared war on the heartland gives me hope. I have nothing against the heartland but don't frack it, don't factory farm it, don't power it with coal, don't hunt cougars and coyotes and say that funny guys who tell the truth are declaring war!

Beautiful barrel puzzle time; 6:10.

Sending you hugs and care, Gloria, as well as complete agreement with your post. About time somebody declared war on the idiots who think they can run roughshod over everybody else. I, too, am glad to see Colbert getting more time with the American public - maybe he can do with humor what logic and common sense have not done....

YouTube: Congratulations to Colbert for his new show, Late Night.

Upworthy: McCutcheon decision from the Supreme Court - Unbelievable.

Wow, I finally beat the average time by 7 seconds on the puzzle! I'm miss the Colbert Report, but it will be even better for Steven to be able to reach a larger audience. And who the hell cares what Hush Limberger says, he's stinking irrelevant.
Jim Demented and people like him need to pay more attention to ACTUAL historical facts, instead of trying to rewrite history to suit their own perverted agenda.

Seems you're on top of your craving for cigarettes today, TomCat, and you are well rested despite it. Hang in there, we're all rooting for you.

I'm of two minds of Steven Colbert taking over from David Letterman. I think he's going to do a wonderful job even though it will take some time to leave the image of the arch conservative behind him. He'll have to find a whole new place to get his sharp jokes from and the audience doesn't yet know who the real Colbert is. But at the same time I can't watch him on cable any more. It has Comedy Station, but no CBS/Letterman. So I'm going to miss him.

Upworthy: very funny video except that it isn't funny at all. It's not satire, it is reality. Reality for the happy few, that is, I estimate for about 1%.

Daily Kos: Don't you just love the way the GOP and the Talibangelists rewrite history any way they see fit. The trouble is they can never really make it fit. DeMint makes use of the confusion that was created by the Republicans and Democrats 'switching places' on the political scale in several steps in time, but then runs into the problem that Abe created the largest government of them all. Poor DeMint, if you lie or rewrite history, it's very hard to keep your facts straight, isn't it. LOL: another Republican undoing himself, no assistance needed.

That video does explain the court decision exceptionally well.
The one benefit I see is that now the media gives DeMint so little time to air his absurdities. Any accident that Rand Paul was similarly quoted recently? Did someone else write both their scripts (or pay for them)?
Thanks for the Colbert video--it included some content that better explains why he appeals broadly to most Americans, including those in the heartland. I see the irony with Rush having started in radio in CA and has never been a part of the heartland in the years since--so how can he speak for it?

YouTube: Awesome news, Colbert is going to be a BIG asset for the network...I'm thrilled.
Upworthy: "Holy Sh*t".!!!!
Cartoon: President Roosevelt served as President for more than 12 years, longer than any other person. He led the country through some of its greatest crises to the impending defeat of Nazi Germany and within sight of the defeat of Japan as well. Source: Wiki.
Glad to read that you are out and about, it's a beautiful day to do so. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

6:05, and I managed to keep the time the pop-up stole down to 6 seconds.

YouTube - Yeah, I can probably get him on CBS. His satire is so real that what I have seem in clips I find uncomfortable to watch. Don't a large chunk of Conservatives think he really is a Conservative because he does it so well? They may be in for a surprise.

Upworthy - What satire? Isn't this straight reporting?

Daily Kos - Isn't this one of the guys who insists God created the world in 6 days? But slavery disappeared because of evolution? Yeah, right.

Cartoon - Also the day the South started the Civil War by firing on Fort Sumter. Not the same year, of course. All in all a great day for Republicans.

Puzzle 2:58 That barrel may be used as a table, but it also a storage container for some fine hooch!

You Tube Good on Colbert! Rush is pissed off because he recognises Colbert's gifts of satire and solid liberal politics, and the stronger national stage that has just opened up for him. Limbaugh, eat dirt! Whine somewhere else!

Upworthy Well done! But will everyone understand it as satire? And how many Americans are paying attention to McCutcheon and the selling of their country to the plutocrats?

Daily Kos Trying to rewrite American history yet again, Jimbo? The old Republican party of Lincoln is long dead! So what's in a name anyways? DeMint is, as always, a Republicanus/Teabagger who hasn't learned his lessons yet.

Cartoon FDR was a man not afraid of doing what needed to be done! I'd like it a whole lot more if the elephant would be on his back in the middle of the frame and the caption said "Nov 4, 2014 the Republican Party died!"

Gonna miss the old Colbert and the Report......but that isn't until 2015! I wish him the best of luck.

As for McCutcheon and the Fascist Five.....all I can say is, they have put Fascism right smack dab in the people's face and basically telling the people that we no longer matter and that our government is now sold to the highest bidder.....so what are we the people going to do about it? Vote......

DeMint----yawn, only in his dement(Mint)ed mind.....he bores me, the putz.

FDR--one of our grestest presidents! Of course the RethugliFascistFundyBaggers would party on that date. They make me so Linda Blair.....

Colbert has a formidable knowledge of politics and a "wicked" sense of humor - he will be very successful in his new stint as late nite host. I can't wait to see him!

I hope Colbert lives up to everybody's expectations, but I expect CBS to try to "sanitize" him. Meanwhile Limbaugh can go....!

Glad you are feeling better.

Youtube and Upworthy: I couldn't get sound on either of these videos, but I had all ready seen the one from Upworthy and it is a good one.

Daily Kos: Jim DeMint has shown that position for his head more than once. He has shown complete ignorance with these statements

It was a sad day for our country when FDR died. We have need of more men and women with his ideas and political courage.
