Since the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade just passed under my window, I'll share the view with you.

I have never been a big parade fan. I think as a kid I became really afraid of them. But there are two parades that I could cope with . . . a parade of Republicans to the unemployment office on November 5, and a parade of the Conservatives to the unemployment office in May 2015!

I used to love the Pride Parade but the city decided to put up barricades so you can't walk across the parade. It's just not as much fun.

I'm not a fan of parades with marching bands, too military for this pacifist. I thought I would get to see something akin to our flower parades, which consists of large wagons made up with huge theme displays covered completely in different types of flower heads. http://zoom.nl/foto/natuur/bloemencorso.1841160.html

So I can quite understand why this one was a bit of a disappointment and why you'd prefer to see a parade of unemployed Republicans, TomCat. No rose petals for them, of course and here a nice big brass band to attract attention wouldn't go amiss.

I like a parade I can watch from the comfort of my home.

My dad was military and my son was both an Eagle Scout and NROTC, my daughter drill team, so I am just bit passed the point of loving parades a few too many, I guess. Though I am always happy for the young people that have the opportunity to show their stuff in a city wide parade.

Thanks TC

That's quite a view you have, TC - but I'd prefer peace and quiet, too. Thanks for the glimpse from your window, tho - it's more fun when it's somebody else's view!

Enjoy seeing parades, with my family and kids. Only difference now is, instead of standing the whole time, I take my chair to view. Really nice pics, and LOVED your comment below. How so true.!!

Thanks, Tom. Sorry there weren't any Republicans carrying "I'm an IDIOT" signs.....

I enjoy parades as long as I don't have to be there and swelter or freeze. I am shallow enough to prefer the big prooduction pieces like floats and balloons to the groups. I admire the work and crafting that goes into them, so maybe I'm not totally shallow.

When I lived in India, I used to love going to the Independance day Parade!

....I love parades, but even better than this type would be a parade of GOP to jail and/or unemployment lines....

Noted. Thanks, TopCat! Do like some parades, First Night in Boston, Mardi Gras, the numerous Carribean festivalsg every summer in city parks around here...don't much like military-type exhibitions, 'tho do enjoy school bands. Certainly wouldn't mind the type of parade cited by Lynn and TC. Would love it if it was a solemn March into Dante's Worst Circle of Hell. Too bad i don't believe in that kind of thing. (sigh).

Seems there are two or three parades
a month here in Mazatlan. Doesn't
matter how trivial, these folks love a
parade! Your view reminds me of
when I was living in a condo here -
right over the Carnaval parade.

I like your preferred parade and like parades that allow a little wacky to make me laugh, too.

The Rose Festival in Portland is a big deal. You got a ringside seat, whether you wanted it or not, TC lol Thanks for sharing the pictures. I would love to see all the Repubs march in in the Festival of Unemployed Republicans Parade, too.

I was in a marching band in high school, yes I was a nerd. But, I still love parades. Sorry, TC, I have never had one beneath my bedroom window. Good pics, though I agree with the idea of the Reps.doing a parade to the unemployment office. Feel sorry for the workers there, though.
