Bell in Campanile puzzle time; 5:18. Brass bell is green with verdigris. Verdigris is a green patina or crust of copper sulfate or copper chloride formed on copper, brass, and bronze exposed to air or seawater for long periods of time. I am interested in this area of Spain because the pilgrimage of Saint Jacques begins in Paris. I suppose you can make the pilgrimage from anywhere!

My question to McCain is, "Can't we use our money to build a bridge or a college for a change? "

I can't keep up with the courts on Obamacare. I won't see a doctor until I need an autopsy.

Wow TC. I am getting really curious what a day at prison is like for you and the prisoners.

Congratulations on both getting your prison ID and on Day 93, TomCat. Well done!
This year turns out to be a very good year for you health wise (with little dips after physiotherapy ;-} ), apartment wise, Politics Plus wise, and especially prison volunteer wise.

Daily Kos: I'm sure most Europeans prefer a 'cowardly' US Presidents who keeps his weapons to himself. We remembered all to well what happened in former Yugoslavia to go through that again. Besides, all those countries that border on Russia McCain is talking about are already stacked with American weaponries. The only thing McCain want is those countries to let the US use them so he and his masters, the weapon industry, can get rich even more by replacing them. Go shoot some off in your own backyard, McCain, and let us deal with our own problems.

TPM: The Republicans couldn't damage or repeal Obamacare in Congress, but are now winning battle after battle through the courts where they have the majority on the court panels. The Democrats must spin this out to HUGE proportions a.s.a.p. to let voters know that Republicans are costing them (again and more) money and that Congress needs a Democratic majority to tackle this problem with new legislation.
As you say, TomCat, leaving it to the courts will be a sure road to disaster.

Think Progress: Australia had put complex Carbon Tax legislature in place under their Labour government but since Tony the Mad Monk has taken over from Julia, he has overturned it according to the wishes of the mining industry and taking his cue from his American Republican colleagues. So the Republicans know they have an advantage here, and a majority for anything that they themselves were against has never been a reason to change their minds on any subject, so unless they're voted out of office, the future looks very bleak for a Carbon Tax, however splendid the idea may be. And splendid it is.

Puzzle time: 5:55.
Someone my wife knows, who is a very nice person but hates Obama, really surprised her by saying that with Obamacare she now is paying LESS for her and her husbands healthcare. The republicans are despicable for wanting to deny people better and cheaper healthcare. The ACA is not perfect but, instead of trying to tear it down, the Reichwingers should be helping to IMPROVE it. Especially since they DO NOT have a better plan.

B-b-b-b-bombs away McCain has funded too many bombs with his votes and just cannot help seeing opportunities to use with every event and under every blanket.

Glad you have your ID and the count increased to 93!

The predictions I've read say there is no way the full circuit panel will agree.

True-representing constituents comes dead last on reasons to vote for the GOP these days.

OMD....Songbird has sung again......sigh.....can we just put him in a retirement home....permanently? Huh, huh, can we, huh??? PLEASE!!!!!! He needs to JSTFU!

ACA--Fascist Five will probably uphold this part of ACA because it benefits, in large part, the INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!! What breaks the public (consumers) receive is minuscule compared to that. But naturally the FFBB's will not do one thing to improve it, no, they want to destroy it, so they will twist anything within the law itself to their purpose to dismantle it.....which I don't think the Insurance Corps are going to stand for.

I am also pro-carbon tax, have been for years. And we all know....if the people want it, the FFBB's will do their damnedest to NOT do it.

Your 'toon, Cat Man, on point....Alan Grayson had it right all along.....if you're sick...die quickly = GOPukeheads ACA version.

That is some blinding verdigris. Usually it is a lot more gris and less verd.

Daily Kos - Well, he's far from alone. Allen West, for example (Asshole of the Day for July 18).

TPM - The administration is not putting any subsicies on hold for this. Yes, we do indeed need to watch closely.

Think Progress - Well, certainly not THIS Congress. (Pro and Con are opposites, therefore the opposite of Progress is Congress.) We have an opportunity at the midterms. I hope to heaven we will take it.

Cartoon - Speaking of health care, money, and death benefits, yhe Hobby Lobby decision has made possible the IPO of a lifetime: Huitzilopotchtli, Incorporated! A family owned, faith-based company with deep roots. (Warning: SATIRE!)

I just found where there is an opposite and unanimous ACA ruling that is receiving less media attention:

I'm so tired of Grumpy and Dopey (that would be Lindsey Graham and John McCain)....If either ever said something truly intelligent, the world would probably collapse. Not to worry tho.
congrats, TC, on your ID and your day 93! Unlike how we view the judges across the country, we have a lot of faith in you!

Thank God warmonger McCain didn't become President. He just needs to dry up and fade away along with his weak-chinned buddy Lindsay G.

Good link, JL A . I heard this last nite on MSNBC...they only publicize the controversial stuff, huh?

John McCain, IMO, suffers from some form of "mental illness"... Most of us have seen McCain over the years and know what he like, so to speak. McCain's "illness" might be Alzheimer's, Dementia, Narcissistic Personality Disorder or something else... lol.

Daily Kos: He's mental. Really. If McCon had his way he'd be sending troops into Antarctica to stop the seals feeding. He's so bogus.
Cartoon: Ain't that the truth?!
Glad to read that your day went great and you have your ID. I've had a busy day, and am running really late today. Hope your grocery day goes good tomorrow. Take care and Thanks, Tom.

Puzzle — 3:47 I'm practicing for 5 Nov: Ding dong the wicked GOP is (politically) dead!

Daily Kos — Unfortunately I couldn't hear this video but hey, it's McConJob, and some things just don't change. The man has some serious cognitive issues which are highlighted here. His new name should be McNutJob!

"…within seconds, McCain's story went from accusing Obama of letting a Ukrainian missile system fall into the wrong hands to accusing Russia of maintaining a special operation force that was responsible for shooting down the plane. Who knows, both of those scenarios seem plausible, but not at the same time … unless, of course, your priority is attacking President Obama, which obviously is bitter McCain's real agenda."

And another example for which McConJob received the coveted "Asshole of the Day" award 06 Jun14: McConJob said he favours prisoner swaps on 18 Feb 14; McConJob blasts Obama for a prisoner swap 03 Jun 14; McConJob denies having said he favoured prisoner swaps and says the reporter is lying 06 Jun 14.

TPM — "This may well mean that Republicans in red states may be able to prevent their citizens from receiving their federal subsidy."

Since so many people are seeing the benefits of the ACA, I have to think that there will constituents in those 36 red states that will be royally pissed at their Congress Critters when they can't receive their federal subsidy. Remind me again what the job of a Congress Critter is . . . represent their constituents? . . . or represent the party and the party ideology?

Think Progress — So the majority of American voters say they support a carbon tax. Some of those voters would also be the voters that voted for the shyster Republicanus/Teabaggers who infest the Congress with all manner of "No can do!" I've reached a disconnect.

Cartoon — I'm beginning to think that a new crucifixion is needed . . . and not of the authentic Jesus.

ACA ... after having read the entire court case, it seems to be perfectly clear that there is some hair splitting going on. I mean, these guys are grasping at straws. There is language in the Act that provides for what happens if a State refuses or is not able to set up its' own exchange. I really think if they pursue this, they are going to take themselves right down the drain. Too many people are already on the exchanges and too many people are quite happy with now having healthcare, including a lot of Republicans who didn't have it before. If the idiot Republicans want to continue shooting themselves in their own feet then I say let them shoot til the feet are gone. Go for it Repugs ... see how far this stunt will take you in your election. About as far as suing the President is going to take you.

John McCain is, in my opinion, the reason our Representatives and Senators in DC voted to give GW Bush the ability to go to war without having to come back and present the prospect first to Congress. And that is how he was able to just go to war in Iraq without further vote, and without the people being able to protest the decision. I read the entire transcript of those hearings. And McCain had ME convinced that if we didn't give that authority to Bush, the entire planet could have been wiped out by one man who wanted to control the entire world in the blink of an eye. John McCain has PTSD so bad it is truly pathetic. He has wanted to go back to war ever since his days in Viet Nam. That is what a LOT of PTSD Vets want. It's like they have unfinished business that they feel they have to take care of. IN my opinion, John McCain should be forced to resign, as he is obviously mentally unstable and no longer fit to serve as a representative of the best interests of the people of this country.

The rich seem to have forgotten (or maybe they never learned - I am sure all the baby billionaires - think ZuckerFB - never read up on history) that we have always had taxes on luxury or anything that was detrimental to the society as a whole. Always. That's why people who smoke now pay so much for those cigarettes. It is almost all taxes. We never had taxes on necessities, but we had plenty of taxes on things that were not really needed, things that could be called luxuries. That is how a society runs. The only thing that is going to make these freaking oil companies look into different energy sources and quit using fossil fuels is to hit them in the pocket book. Time to fight back, America.

Congrats on finally getting that ID, TC. And on day 93 :-)

Congrats on getting your ID, that should simplify things for you.

Daily Kos: McCain needs to retire. He must fantasize about war, that seems to be his primary interest, to get American into another conflict.

TPM: Groan. This is another opportunity for the Republicans and Tea Party to overturn the ACA. It must be costing them a boat load of money or they would not be fighting it so hard. Time for a bunch at Scrotus to retire or be impeached.

Think Progress: We all know that what the American public wants has little effect on the House. They are there to protect the 1 percent, who pay to keep them in office.

Cartoon: Sad but true
