OK – that cartoon is downright scary!!

Daily Kos – I had read about that, and wondered why two gay men would go to a church that wouldn't have gone near them had they known they were gay. Either way on, it was very, very unkind to let the poor widower know just a few hours before the service that they wouldn't bury his deceased husband – not Christ-like at all!

PR Watch – oh no, ALEC are at it again – Heaven help us!

Sorry to hear that you're feeling a bit out of sorts, TomCat. Perhaps you will start to feel better when the temperature goes down a bit and you'll be able to let in some fresh air. An A/C can get you feeling a bit worn out after a while.

Daily Kos: That Tampa church obviously feared the wrath of a few of their members more than the wrath of their Lord for not giving this man a Christian burial. The small-mindedness of the church and its members is exemplar for Florida's GOP.

PR Watch: Even to me it has become quite clear that ALEC is sponsored by the Koch bros. and other big corporations/1%ers with millions, and that is putting it nicely. ALEC is just a corporation owned legislation machine that vomits bills for those Republicans in both federal and state governments who are too stupid to put a bill together themselves. So this their agenda is exactly what could be expected from them this year. A further breakdown of anything to do with welfare, health or environment and further augmentation of the income of the filthy rich. Actually they have only to points on their agenda for which they think up new bills every year: 1. Destroy America and 2. Destroy the rest of the world.

The Huffington Post: these charts are getting better each time I see them and I think Obama should do 90% of Americans a favour by easing up a bit on bringing the deficit down and spending a bit more on jobs and welfare.

Cartoon: These poll watchers may not be in uniform (although they would love to wear one, that of the KKK), but their open-carry weaponry will give them the desired level of intimidation.

5:00 I would have expected the butterfly rather than the background to be green myself.

Daily Kos - Even the diarist left out a crucial point; you had to either go to the diarist's source or read a ways down in the comments to learn that the church was the church they both attended along with the family, and which EVANS HAD GROWN UP IN! So they had a better than reasonable expectation of welcome. Which makes the rejection even more heinous. Man of God my extreme body parts. More like, "There go the people. I must hurry and follow them, for I am their leader."

PRWatch - "The Jeffersonisn Project." My God. They stole Susan B Anthony's name for something she would have hated too. Yesterday we had Charlie Koch (would anyone even call him Chuck? Chuck Koch? Too close to upchuck?) quoting Martin Luther King Jr. Does it never occur to them that if they have to invoke people who were opposed to all they stand for to get votes, then maybe they are WRONG?

Huffington Post - Yes, those are great, aren't they. They have been around a while, because they are so telling even from the moment of the change in administrations. Nice to see them brought up to date, and they just get better.

Cartoon - Based on the photos of the open carry crazies, some 1%er must have supplied the uniform. They don't have any clothes that look that professional.

Butterfly malachite puzzle time; 4:15.

RIP Julion Evans. Did it ever occur to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church that Julion is dead. If they think he died in sin then that is between Julion and G-d not them. I hope the members of that church come to their senses. They refused to comfort grieving parents, family, and friends. What does G-d think of that?

ALEC can huff and puff but it can't blow this house down.

Is there a bullet proof vest under the jacket to make it hang so stiffly in that cartoon?
I guess Jesus would've shook the sand from his feet leaving that Babtist church in accordance with scripture.
Good example of why the GOP doesn't honor their commitment to use the nonpartisan CBO data for policy and legislative proposals related to the budget, defcit and jobs.
Glad the light is shining more brightly on ALEC's nefarious activities.
May all players get a handle on how fantasy football is done.

Daily Kos: Such a tragedy of injustice for the grieving families (and to the LGBT community). This pastor's self righteous indignation towards Mr. Evans and Mr. Capers is very hateful and downright mean.! Condolences to his family.
HP: I like these, and plan on passing this on to others.
Cartoon: So true, so true.!
Must be the weather, as I'm feeling kind of groggy this morning. Wonder if it's the heat and high humidity? Hope you get a chance to relax and catnap. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This sanctimonious church should not be tax free, it should not be calling itself a church, and it should get rid of that minister. It will be interesting to see if ANY of the congregation object to the church being so hideous.
"Chuck Koch".... LOL - you are funny, Joanne! Kind of makes you think of Choke Koch, too....I'm not sure how we deal with such despicable people so we might as well just laugh at them...

Congress is doing NOTHING - Obama is doing great DESPITE them - it must gall them something terrible. Heh heh

'Toon -- yup, that's the dude I saw at our polling station......

A church that would turn away a set of grieving parents who only wish to send off their son properly (to them) no church, is not a place of not a place to worship one's only a place of hatred and fear. Not worth going there....why this unfortunate man went there is beyond me. My condolences to his family and his husband's family.

Too late Cat Man, I am already unfriended by over half of my extended family for standing steadfastly to my political views and trying to enlighten them with the truth....alas...they are hardcore FFBB's. And not worth knowing anyway. AND that's 'family'. :)

Appreciate the visual on spending, deficit, and private employment.
How tragic that a church based on Jesus Christ would have so little compassion. My condolences to Julion Evans husband and family. May the love they share give them peace.
Thanks for the post, TomCat.

I think many a Church Preacher would do this and say they are religious!
Thank You TomCat

Daily Kos: This is sad and disgusting and not Christian behavior at all. His poor family has enough to deal with all ready and don't need anything else at this time of grief.

PR Watch: I clicked through and was not surprised to see that the Koch Bros are hugely involved with ALEC. We should have a list of the legislators who are owned by ALEC and work to make sure none of them are re elected.

Huffington Post: I shared a chart like this on Facebook a few nights ago. The only comments I got were from my fellow "blues". The "reds" ignored it.

Cartoon: If the Republicans had their way we would have that!

Puzzle — 3:14 I'm heading back to the cocoon for a nap. Between trying catch that puddy tat and praying the morning through at church for peace, I'm pooped.

Daily Kos — WWJD? I wonder if Jenkins ever asked himself that question?

"Based on our preaching of the scripture, we would have been in error to allow the service in our church," Jenkins said. "I'm not trying to condemn anyone's lifestyle, but at the same time, I am a man of God, and I have to stand up for my principles."

Jenkins actions are reprehensible and un authentic Christian. He is NOT a man of God, and for that reason I will not call him reverend or pastor. He has not earned that appellation. And, he has absolutely NO positive principles otherwise he would be there to support the family and widower, Kendall Capers.

A thought just occurred to me and has me giggling . . . I want to go on a field trip to that church, maybe even take some of my church friends, and during the service start waving a rainbow flag from a seat in the congregation. Hmmmmmm . . .

PR Watch — To directly quote my daddy on his deathbed (he died the next evening) "Kick 'em in the ass!" A drastic action is required in November . . . show all Republicanus/Teabaggers the door in the midterms and get active in local politics and activism.

Huffington Post — That's my kind of reality! This should be on TV. Since Americans are so besot by reality TV, this has the potential to be educational and entertaining.

Cartoon — . . . and they're as intimidating and obnoxious!
