Eco Tourists Pay Big money to Ride the Cables Thru the treetops in Central America;
Riply's Makes Thier Money By sensationalizing Unique and Possibly Risky Events;
Why Should The Columbian Authorities Do Anything What do You Expect Take The Children away from thier Families cause You Worry??
This system Serves the People Of The Area Well; NO ACCIDENTS and at 30 miles an Hour it's Slower and Probably Safer than Riding an Old Recycled NorteAmericano School Bus Down Mountain Hairpin Turns and Over a Cheaply Built Bridge;
To Say Nothing of the Damadge that it would do to the Local Ecosystems; As the Only Way Roads are Justified in Willderness Areas is By Exploiting the Wilderness; Lumber, Strip mines, Factory Farms.. ETC. Etc.etc...
People Forget How Close to Nature We Used to live;
and Because They have Become Spoiled, Soft, and Fearfull;
They want to Protect those that DO NOT NEED YOUR protection.
Buy them a couple New Stainless Steel Cables If You Care That Much....
I would Much Rather have My Kids (Who Used To Jump From Tree to Tree and Survived That) Travel From Mountainside to Mountainside on a Cable Run; Than Worry About Gang Violence, Auto Accidents, Drunk Drivers, Pedofiles,Politicians, Skateboards, Bicycles, Motorcycles, Chemical Polution; That Raising them in Middle Class AmeriKa Puts on them....
Some Children Need Protection From Thier Enviornment;
However Usually it is Exploitive Manipulative Parents;
They need Protection From NOT NATURE and a SAFE FUN ride....

Yes, very dangerous, as the little girl in the video said: "I am afraid always when I do this but thatīs the only way I can go to school" and she has to carry her younger sister in the back in very unsafe coditions that even a blind can see.

Children should never have to be in this situation in the XXI century. People that live in the first world will never have to fear this "free fall" for going daily to work or to school and imagine an old man breaking all the bones if he doesnīt land ok, in that area they canīt press charges against anyone like in the first comfy world if an accident happens or someone is sick maybe they donīt arrive to a decent hospital. Itīs easy to give opinions when we never have to live this, so I prefer to see these kids safe.

Thanks, Tere, for bringing us this video! Never imagined small children doing this seemingly unsupervised :-(! Forwarded the link immediately to friends living in central Colombia.

Again there were NO Accidents..
..and Building Roads Will Cause Loggging Trucks and Other Equiptment of exploitation To Crowd The Roads; I've Driven on Dirt Mountain Roads With Logging Trucks;
and I have Crossed Ravines By a Rope Run, AND I Would Much rather Cross on a Cable; Than get run off the road By Some Heartless Trucker; Anybody that has Driven on Narrow Mountain Roads Know That FreeFall is a Major Risk...
"imagine an old man breaking all the bones if he doesnīt land ok,"
... And The End Of the Run has Several Tires to Absorb Impact;
and as Primitive as The Stick brakes are; They Obviously Work..
So Who is Going to Pay For the Road Logging interests?
Mining Interests?
Coca/Cocaine Growers Exporters?
Or The Only one That is Telling the Columbian Gov to Do Something Ecconomicaly Unfeasable; Cause Watching a Distorted Infotainment Vid By Ripley's Makes You Nervous?
I have seen news Reports about Narrow S American Mountain Roads Where the Deadly Accidents Number in Multiples Per Mile is That SAFER or are you PAY FOR THE ROAD to Be Built By "first World Standards" and More Importantly willing to Direct Traffic and Stand in the Road infront of the TRUCKERS.?..
That is the Only Way Such a Road Could be safer for the Kids;
SO PLEASE DO So; If You Are That Commited...

By the Way Fear is an Appropriate response to ANY Risky Beahaviour; it makes one More Carefull....
I used to Climb Trees For a Living And Cut Big Chunks Off and Simg Them Down on Ropes; Most Jobs I was fearfull Enogh to take Extra Good Care of myself (and the homes underneath) and usualy I worked By myself;
no Injuries Untiill I went to Work for AsPlund;
Where I was Injured on the Ground Stopping a Potentialy Runnaway Trialer; My Foreman (a Trained Over the Road Trucker) Knocked off it's Chocks...

I tend to agree with Rod, but still maybe there is a solution?

Teresa del Castillo (1519)
Friday July 10, 2009, 2:02 pm
Winefred, the solution is that the autorities make rural roads, we have plenty of those in Mexico and in Colombia, and they donīt need to destroy the nature. Rural roads were made since the begining of times and of course the risk of an accident is less.

Now I am asking Care2 Staff for a solution:
Rudeness is allowed at Care2? Nobody has the right to shut me up and less a troll.

Thanks Care2 Staff.

thank you for the post Teresa and Sarah for the forward
it is good to draw attention in what is in your heart to make the world safer and better for all life.
Don't get personal at eachother but find ways to work together and listening is the first step.
Be respectful and find ways to express concerns without putting eacother down.
We can use our energy better than this.

Thanks, Teresa. I hate this rudeness and this lack of concern for the safety of children. I can't imagine the children going to my school being expected to make such a hazardous journey. It should not be allowed.

Dear Teresa I did not tend to be rude,but I also said I still think maybe there is a better solution for the children. There is always a solution.Government always wait until an accident happen.
