Please keep URLs out of C2NN-descriptions, as links don't work there. Additional URLs can be provided --as clickable (htm-)links-- as comment. thankyou.

Petition text
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals is a well-known advocacy group that boasts it has helped many animals in this world. It is highly-acclaimed among pro-animal groups.

However, the New York Times has reported that PETA has refused to implement a “no-kill” policy in its animal shelter. This has casted a dark shade over the organization’s impeccable reputation. The newspaper claims that about 2, 000 dogs and cats are killed every year in the PETA animal shelter in Norfolk, Virginia. The situation is the same in New York. The Norfolk facility has placed a record-low 19 animals for adoption in 2012 and only 24 in 2011. Meanwhile, non-PETA shelters from NYC were able to place an impressive 90 percent of their animals in adoptive homes.

Animals arrive at the PETA animal shelter in order to find a better life. Ironically, they end up being euthanized.

A PETA spokesman claimed that many of the animals that arrive at their shelters are in such poor state of health that euthanasia is the best available option. However, a shelter with a “no-kill” philosophy strives to place even those wounded animals in the home of a warm-hearted family. PETA should follow.

PETA, we urge you to immediately adopt a “no-kill” policy at all of its animal shelters. If you fail to do this, you will have no moral right to speak about animal cruelty again.

Sorry I can't sign this. PETA has done a lot of good for animals. I have volunteered at a county animal shelter for 7 yrs. I know that despite everyones best efforts not every animal can be saved. I firmly believe that PETA would not harm any animals. These people sit on the sideline and criticize others who are putting their time and money into helping animals. If they are so concerned they might want to consider working to help homeless animals themselves.

Signed!! thanks Wolf LuvR

Michael, you can't ignore the facts of PETA's policy regarding the killing of pets and BSL. PETA does alot of good when fighting against the fur industry , vivsection etc, but statistics prove that their killing rate of pets is unbelievable high. For more informations please visit:

The Center For Consumer Freedom (factory farms, puppy mills, animal testing, etc.) and Rick Berman ("Dr. Evil") are behind this garbage about PETA.

Yes Michael, every animal CAN BE SAVED!!! I live in a European sissy state, as your former president called us so politely. We don't kill animals in shelters, NEVER EVER, NOT ONE, not even the old, ill and/or aggressive ones. I have never seen a stray dog in my life. Chained dogs are illegal, outdoor living dogs are illegal, no banned breeds, all dogs are equal. If we can do it (and many other European countries), why cant you?? This is called being civilized.... Thank you Lola.

Michael I have issues with PETA also. I have many but I did sign because if there is any chance of helping even one animal I will try to do that .
I'm not knocking you at all or putting you down. I do have those issues with PETA but I'm doing it for even one animal. I pushed my feelings aside about how i am not a fan of PETA and signed for the animals. Michael I hope i do not sound mean or rude. That's not my intention. I'm just saying I agree about PETA but Once in awhile they help and I don't want to lose that chance. I have to push away my issues with PETA if it might help, that's all.
I don't think anyone needs to be rude to Michael. Everyone has a right to their opinion.... Maybe stick the bad feelings aside to possibly save as many animals as possible. That's what I am doing.

Signed & Thanks for the post!
