Halloween is an especially important time for parents and children to pay extra attention to their surroundings and not let their guard down. Nearly 94% of kids between the ages of 4-12 trick-or-treat.

I can't think of a time when it's MORE important to hang onto your children more tightly than this year. Kids are being swiped just walking ahead of their friends/family...and in the dark, it can be even easier to not let your guard down.

Here is a good check list of things to read over before you're out with your little goblins!

Also, here is the website for: The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children with another list to build safety into your Halloween!

I agree Wicked Vampirella, my daughter is 15 y/o and doesn't trick or treat for candy anymore so we let her give out the candy at our house on Halloween night. Years ago I always went with her to trick or treat and we only went to houses in our neighborhood. Thank you for reminding parents about todays dangers.

Thanks Kat. Where I live which is the same neighborhood i grew up in is just NOT the same. It has gotten alot worse & NOBODY I mean NOBODY trick-or-treats around my neighborhood. It's sad to me. We go to the next neighborhood over to trick or treat w/ my 10y/o. I never would let her walk around by herself or w/ friends around a good neighborhood. It's just NOT SAFE ANYMORE. Thanks again Kat for reminding Parents & some young kids that my be here on care2.
