Charile Vandergraw 70, has become so familiar with the grizzlies that he can scratch their bellies, pat them on the head and feed them biscuits. But he has been charged with 20 counts of feeding bears and could be given a year in prison or a $10,000 fine.

Thank you Melinda. They should jail real animal abusers, killers! not this man.

My feelings exactly Simone! To bad they can't enforce punishments like this on those that torture and kill the animals. What do most of them get?, a slap on the wrist and/or probation. Grrrrrrrr
Thanks Melinda.

How pathetic. I've noticed all my life how disproving the myth that animals are not vicious killers-whether they be on land or sea-- that the perpetrators of that revelation of truth are the ones punished-not the maniacs that stalk the land and tear apart the flesh of the innocents who just want to prove out to the world by way of those who are sympatico with them-that they are anything but monsters. And the monsters (the bi-peds) are encouraged to go on with their wanton slaughters.

HE DOES NOT NEED TO FINED OR JAILED. THIS MAN IS A BLESSING TO THE BEARS.
OTHER ABUSERS, HUNTERS, NEED TO BE LOOKED AT MORE CLOSELY!!!! NOT HIM.

Jailed and maybe fined for being kind to animals is not right. This man is a hero in my eyes. Noted with anger. Thanks

I find it sad and unfortunate that people who are kind to animals (such as this man) are the ones who get a harsher punishment than those who hurt them. I just don't get it.

another symptom of the insane world we live in!!animal abusers go free and sometimes even become govenors(that crazy palin bitch)whilst kind hearted people who try to live the way we are supposed to live,as one with our earth, are persecuted and worse prosecuted under existing laws.BLOODY MADNESS!!!!!

Register your feelings with those in charge - you can send an email to: dfg.commissioner@alaska.gov

First Sarah and now this - sounds as if they have a really nice group of folks up there in Alaska.

The world needs more people like Mr. Vandergraw; people who actually care about and for ALL living things. We should behave as stewards of our planet, not conquerors. Alaskans claim to be independent and lovers of nature. The state needs to support his actions instead of treating him as a criminal.

Noted. This man made friends with these bears. Its a gift, not a wrong thing at all. Some people will never look past their noses to see good.

Wow, the justice system is really screwed up - animal abusers get away scot free but someone who loves them and feeds them is punished. I think these people have mush for brains.

I remember last summer watching a documentary on this man. I admired him and at the end of the show, it talked about how he could get in trouble for having the bear sanctuary. It's so sad that he will be arrested. Animal killers should get punished, not animal friends!
