Many mass migratory bird deaths occur. wind problems cause inability to reach hatching or blossoming food supplies and they starve.

There are other problems like storms, but a major contribution is the arrogation of natural ecosystems by man.
Climate changes occuring in patterns extremely rare before our massive addition of ghgases, and anomalous weather, whatever the initial impetus, have been killers.

The historic food and shelter once available for thousands and more years, have suddenly been shut off, extinguished by our proliferation, and our changing of living systems into urban and agricultural landscapes, with their attendant poisons.

Millions and perhaps an order of magnitude more birds are killed by runniing into human towers, and these have bl;ssomed evilly in the past 2 decades, for recreational communnications - cell phones.

We cannot prevent some of these sources iof death, but others can and should be mitigated, remedied, ended. Or is my own luxury, excessive comfort, excessive offspring, and obesity, more important than the sweep of life across time on this planet?

I'm in south Jersey, and there were thousands of blackbirds that landed across the street into the field where they had corn growing but there is nothing there now, and they all flew over here. they looked much like gnats, that is how many there were. they came down for food and water, and then flew behind my house into the trees. It looked like a big dust storm of gnats. It was incredible, This is the first year the Starlings showed up again, as they have been gone for a couple of years, and I don't know where the crows are either.

Wheeler's murder is connected to the bird deaths in Arkansas?The murder of a former Bush-administration official, his body dumped in a Delaware landfill, is connected to the recent deaths of black birds in Arkansas, according to a report in the European Union Times (EU Times).
Citing a report prepared for Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, EU Times says John P. Wheeler was murdered after he threatened to expose that the bird deaths were caused by an accidental spraying of a poisonous gas from a U.S. military plane. The report states that the U.S. has been storing an estimated 63,000 metric tons of Phosgene, which had been removed from Iraq, at an arsenal in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

The lethal gas was being transported on a U.S. Air Force tanker when a malfunction caused the gas to spray, leading to the bird deaths. Wheeler traveled from his Delaware home to Washington, D.C., to confront Pentagon and White House officials who were responsible for the incident, the report says. A short time later, his body was discovered in a landfill near Wilmington, Delaware.

I just read an article that said essentially, "This has all happened before, don't panic." I don't believe it. My gut says 'end of days' and I'm not even super religious. The earth is rebelling against us for all our wrongs. Does anyone remember the octopus attacking humans off California coast? What about shark attacks? All these earthquakes around the world, because we've sucked all the oil from the earth? Wind patterns have changed because the ice up in Alaska etc has melted. Bees are dying, even the monarch butterfly numbers are way down. Flowers blooming out of season. I was told these were all signs. This is too much adding up. I'm saying prayers like crazy, suggest you all do same.

Noted, this is the first time I read one of your news articles, as I usually have so many messages myself and with not being well myself I don't like to let my friends down! As long as I get them all forwarded and note some myself I'm happy. However I noticed the story of the Arkansas birds and intended to read it but it totally slipped my mind to be honest!

What Dana H says makes sense of so many bird deaths and if the gas was spilled in the air it can go further than Sweden as well, for some Black Birds are NOT migratory ones although I don't know about this particular one. It would also explain why there are so many bird deaths all of a sudden. If the clouds go a certain way, not knowing much of American Geography, it's most likely the Poisonous Gas could have spread and if no one knows any of the effects this gas has on the birds or people, or any wildlife for that matter it might just be true.

The disappearance of and murder of Mr Wheeler shows that he might just have hit the nail on the head, why else would he be killed and who by? I don't have to go far. He threatened to expose this leakage which would mean spilling the beans on a former government would also be exposing either the FBI or CIA, so his death is no surprise to me at all! A Landfill would mean a perfect place to hide a body usually. The FBI or CIA wouldn't have done it personally but hired someone!

Recently large numbers of migrating shearwater birds have washed up on the eastern beaches of Australia. It is said ( by the experts) to be normal. But in a world where frogs are disappearing at a rapid rate, where bees are under serious threat, where butterfilies are becoming rarer...well you have to wonder if there is link here. I read this article earlier today. These birds, like those in Arkansas, sleep in groups. The commonality in the cases: in all 3 locations where these massive deaths have occurred, fireworks were set off in the night nearby to the tress where these birds had clustered together to sleep. The birds are very cold and vulnerable, so they startled awake with the flight instinct in confusion, and flew headlong into the trees they were in, and/or other objects, as all had blunt force trauma, according to the theory I read earlier. Still more to come out. As for the fish, also a "wait and see" situation, until we have access to the results from the tests.

It is strange, and as of this time not explained. I do feel the Mother Nature will strike back at what we are doing to our planet. Humans are destroy themselves through greed and selfishness. I see this happening to higher degrees here in the US. There are people, using the name of God, that seek to bring the "end times" to our planet. They are taking control of our government now, and little by little seek to destroy Mother Earth.

Only time will tell. I hope and pray I am wrong, but I'm more pessimistic as time goes on. For those outside the US, just watch what the republicans are and will do. Their actions (and non actions) speak louder than their words, and remember, they were in control during the Bush years, which brought our country and the world to almost complete failure.

The cause of death of the jackdaws found dead on the streets of Falköping, in central Sweden, was external force, not infection or disease, showed the autopsy completed on Wednesday.
"Our assessment is that they weren't carrying any contagious disease, but figuring out exactly what did kill them, other than being some sort of external force, is rather outside our area," said Olov Andersson, SVA's information officer, to TT news agency.

"What comes to mind is that they may have flown up, and been hit, or something of the sort," he speculated, a theory defended by most experts.
The birds may have been frightened by something in the middle of the night, flown about blindly, and died in collisions with different objects in the dark.
"Jackdaws overnight in trees in huge flocks. If something scares them, hundreds of birds can take to the skies as one," Anders Wirdheim of the Swedish Ornithological Society (Sveriges ornitologiska förening, SOF) told TT.

The jackdaws were discovered on a street in Falköping, just before midnight on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. In total, between 50 and 100 dead birds were found.
Similar events have recently been reported from at least two US locations. A few days ago, 5000 birds were found dead in a town in Arkansas, and some days later a similar mass death occurred in Louisiana, as 500 birds plummeted from the sky.

HAARP is definitely a possibility. HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) uses high frequency rays fired at the Ionosphere (the upper part of our atmosphere) where the rays will deflect back down to earth so the effects of the rays can be recorded. The objective is to study the basic natural processes that occur in the Ionosphere under the natural but much stronger influence of solar interaction as well as how the natural Ionosphere affects radio signals....or so the HAARP team are telling us.The experimental station is in Gakona, Alaska and there is also a similar station called EISCAT run by the Europeans (European incoherent scatter scientific association) in Tromso, Norway and another station operating on the Svalbard archipelago, right next door to Sweden. According to some sites I looked at, it would appear that high frequency sound waves could cause internal bleeding.

I did think that perhaps it could have something to do with the sun's magnetism or sunspots/flares but the NASA site tells me that the sun is particularly quiet at the moment, which logically would be an excellent time to do atmospheric testing. I would think though that if HAARP is responsible, we would be very unlikely to know it....not unless there is a whistle blower in their camp prepared to tell all.

I assume pesticides cannot be ruled out yet as they can also cause internal bleeding and swift death but logic says that if it had been pesticides, the birds would have died more sporadically and not just fallen out of the sky.

Thank you for this post! This is one of the most alarming ecological situations to date. Bottom line is to find the exact cause of the bird deaths and to do something positive about it, if possible. We will have to 'go outside the box' on this one. Nature is telling us something, loud and clear. She can usually rectify problems herself, but human intervention has made this increasingly difficult. Definitely a 'wake up call' for our planet.

Birds are smart beings and stay clear of danger. How can you have internal injuries without external trauma unless something is entering your body and then banging you around? I talked to my daughter last night. She is a molecular biologist and a medical doctor. She told me we will never be told what is happening because we are such an oil hungry nation. In the BP oil spill in the Gulf, the oil was treated repeatedly with dispersants. The dispersants changed the nature of the oil molecules. The molecules became small and each molecule has practically no molecular weight. In even a small sea disturbance, the molecules of oil become air born. Oil molecules plug up the gas exchange sites in a fish's gills and the gas exchange sites of all animals with lungs including humans. Fish die first because gills have fewer gas exchange sites than lungs. Birds die next because they need highly oxgenated blood for flight. Mammals including humans suffer the feeling of not being able to catch their breath. They hyper-ventilate and cannot sleep while they feel that they must struggle for breath. A long period of no sleep causes hallucinations and thoughts of suicide. Yes, a truly distressed animal can commit suicide too, look at lemmings. One article said the examination of the birds showed they were injured and hit some kind of wall or my guess is an impact like HAARP.
Another AOL article said that thousands of morning doves in Italy died also this same time, and said that millions of fish dead in the Chesapeake Bay which I had not read before.
They injected tons of chemical poisons, the worse on earth into the soil in Arkansas, not all incinerated as they told me on the phone when I called the government office in Arkansas which was doing the disposal of more than 40 tons of poison chemicals.

i've been drinking bird nest soup every night (i only get the homemade kind back at home). the only reason why i drink it is because it's supposed to be good for complexion.
