Already had signed. This is happening way too often. The adults in these children's lives really need to do better in teaching their children. Then to have it advance to the point is has is a black mark on society in general. Shame

Petition signed previously.

This needs to be completely investigated by the AG of the State. Or a special
prosecutor. The boy who committed this rape should not have had his charges
dropped because his grandfather is a political bigairwig.

Rape is a felony and must be treated as such. All charges that were dropped
by the local prosecutor and sheriff's department must be brought forth. The
prosecutor in the original case must be charged with obstruction.

Ty, Lynn.

"...he's the grandson of a prominent Missouri state senator, who also has ties to the Nodaway County prosecutor in charge of the case."

I guess the prosecutor hasn't heard of recusing himself from the matter. Signed

Here is an AVAAZ petition: Please consider reading and signing this. Thank you.

The world's worst punishment for rape?

80,841 have signed. Let's get to 300,000

16 year old Liz was walking home from her grandfather’s funeral when she was ambushed by six men who took turns raping her and then threw her unconscious body down a 6-meter toilet pit. Their punishment? Police had them mow their station lawn, then let them go free!

Liz’s horror story has sent shockwaves through Kenya and now politicians and the police are under pressure to respond. But women's groups in Kenya say nothing will truly change unless the government is put under the global spotlight. They are calling on us urgently to help ensure justice is done and that Liz’s nightmare marks a turning-point in Kenya’s rape epidemic.

Nobody has been brought to justice -- not the rapists, and not the police. Today, we change that. Let's stand with Liz right now, before her attackers and the police escape. Click below to get justice for Liz and help make sure no girl anywhere suffers this violence.

PS: Liz is a pseudonym given by the news outlet that broke her story and has since been widely used. She is not pictured here.

To Kenya's Inspector General of Police:
We call on you to deliver justice for Liz including the immediate arrest and prosecution of her rapists and full disciplinary action for the police officers who dismally failed to handle her case. By holding these police officers to account you will send a strong message to police everywhere that rape is not a misdemeanour, it is a serous crime, and if police do not uphold the law they will be held to account. We call on you to ensure Liz's case is a turning point to end the war on girls.

We had heard about this and signed the petition a while ago, but hadn't realized why a rape charge had not been pursued. It is just awful how that girl and her family have been made to suffer so unjustly while the perpetrator goes free. Here's hoping this petition and all the publicity will get the attention of those in higher positions of power.

This is another lynch mob by Internet. Very dangerous to influence courts and the laws. Mobs just want to hang someone and really do not care. We do not have all the facts nor do we have the expertise.

Mitchell D (87)
Saturday October 26, 2013, 2:06 pm
Scott, I am, I believe we are, asking that charges "be brought" in this case, not saying that guilt has been found.
The purpose of bringing charges, even the process of investigating a situation to determine what, if any, charges can be brought needs to be gone through, rather than having nothing done, perhaps because someone is well connected.

Thanks to all who read through to the link that works, either Mitch's or mine :-)

Scott...a "lynch mob by Internet"...? Well, Mitch answered you, and I have nothing more to say to you.

Thanks to everyone for caring, signing and sharing.
