If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth.

My email to Director of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Phil Anderson

director@dfw.wa.gov

****
Honorable Phil Anderson

News that I received are more than shocking - the Wedge wolf pack will be shot and killed, one by one.
No wolf in Washington will be safe if the state allow killing of an entire pack based only on one rancher's claims that are not backed up with concrete evidence. It sets a dangerous precedent, and this can bring wolves back to the brink of extinction.
Please don't kill any more members of the Wedge pack! This pack is just one of only eight in your state, and it's your responsibility to protect them.
The future of wolves in Washington State is in your hands!

Why do we tell other countries they have to preserve their large cats such as lions and tigers and then we kill our wolves??? Sad. Don't people see how amazing these creatures are? They are amazing family oriented creatures. By the time this is recognized they'll be gone. So sad.

The hypocracy of this is unbelievable. Those who believe in the Bible, where mankind is given dominion over the animals (meaning to take care of them) are now out to kill those animals.
Everything was created for a reason. Everything is connected. By destroying one species on our planet, we diminish our entire planet.
By condoning these actions, The State of Washington is proving that it does not care for nature or for our planet. Shameful!

It's too late as they showed on the news two nights ago that they shot and killed the alpha male. Director Anderson said it saddened him but he had no choice after it became apparent the pack had become completely dependent on cattle for their food supply.

Well, the "problem" is, that he succumbed to the pressure of the biggest cattle rancher in the area, the owner of Diamond M. That ranch is grazing their cattle on PUBLIC lands, in the mountains where the wolves live. If he can't protect his cattle without killing off ALL likely predators, he should consider another way of living.

Cattle is one of the many reasons for the destruction of rain forests (responsible for almost 80% of the destruction) in the Amazon. Who would normally care if a wolf eats a cow--it is part of the normal ecosystem. Unfortunately, it looks like the USDA plays both sides--they give ranchers rights and hire DOD agribioweapons monsters to come up with what could easily wipe out the cattle industry. Charles Darwin is up for a vote as the anitchrist?

ASbc D, sorry but I don't understand most of your comment, but just so you know, they were grazing cattle on government (public) lands in mountainous areas...........Colville National Forest land. That is not a rainforest, nor were they clearing the forests for grazing land. There wasn't that much grass there, but it was still (or IS) still there and enough to provide FREE pasture for the ranchers. All have a right to graze their cattle there, but most small ranchers choose not to and to protect their cattle by keeping them closer to their ranch houses and use dogs to scare off predators. That was not the option chosen by Diamond M, who allowed their cattle to free roam and that was also in the territory occupied by the wolves.

The pack is virtually wiped out now with the killing of 5 wolves, including the alpha male. There are two remaining wolf packs in Washington State (documented), so let's just hope they can co-exist with ranchers.
