It had been three years since her pet dog had ran away whilst out on a shopping trip, but for all that time, her owner never gave up that her trusty companion might one day come home.

This is a strange story 4 me...if this woman knew that her poor dog was in the woods then why on earth didn't she/someone leave food and water-and shelter 4 him?? And why not simply try harder to catch him...also the poor dog didn't seem all that thrilled to see her either. Too many questions 4 my liking. And the headline is ignorant--a dog is not called an ''IT''...thanks Marie

for three years she left the dog to starve. it ate ROCKS. she made no effort to feed it nor did she spend much time if any trying to lure it back. this isnt good news, it is animal abuse

I don't really understand either why she did not do more if she knew the dog was in the area. However I still enjoyed the story. Stupid lady and a cute dog with a happy ending.

The owner Patty Corbat obviously cared enough about Olivia to have her microchipped (or was that her late husband's doing?) She should now honour his wish to look after her properly and give her all the love and care she has missed for so long by not shirking her responsibility palming her off on dog sitters.

Aww how sweet! When I lived in India there was a stray dog on the street that I would constantly feed and keep and eye on because my folks didn't want to actually take him in but didn't mind just looking after him from outside. I had him for like 7/8 years as I was growing up but one time I went away to the UK and I come back and he's not there! One year he was there and the next he was gone! I was heartbroken. So I asked my folks were did he go, he didn't die did he, they said he got adopted by someone but somehow I don't believe them. Whatever happened to him, I'll always love him, God bless no matter where he no matter what happened.

So yes, this woman was incredibly lucky to find her dog again.

I also wonder why the woman did not go to the area that the dog was and try and get her to come. It does seem strange. If it were my dog, I would have had a search party out there.
