Annually, over 500,000 human deaths are caused due to smoking related activity. It has been so for years. We KNOW, scientifically what all the variables of smoke inhalation are and what second hand smoke can cause on the human body.

There is no need to torture animals just so we can tell people they shouldn't be smoking. Both my parents died prematurely due to smoking related disease, they are plenty of other similar cases. If people choose to smoke despite all the evidence then that is their choice, no animal should suffer as a result of people exercising their right to harm themselves.

Signed, thank you dear Marie!

I ASKED JAPAN TOBACCO INTERNATIONAL TO STOP TESTING CIGARETTES ON ANIMALS.
I received this answer:

Good morning Desanka

Thank you for your email enquiry on 4th March 2014.

JTI is committed to the application of alternative test methods and strategies to avoid the need for animal testing. HOWEVER, IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SCIENTIFICALLY-ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE TO CONDUCTING TESTS ON ANIMALS. WHERE THE USE OF ANIMAL TESTING CANNOT BE AVOIDED, JTI contracts independent laboratories that are accredited and internationally recognised for their high standards of research and animal welfare to carry out the necessary tests. This may be the case where JTI needs to engage in testing to comply with governments’ requirements for tobacco products, for example for specific investigations into the development of potentially reduced risk products.
Please let me take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to write to us.
