Where Does Your Recycling Really Go?

Good news: one third of UK households now recycle. Bad news: thousands of tons of collected recycling ends up in landfill anyway, and thousands of tons more is shipped for processing overseas as part of the little known global trade in recycled waste.

good question..the responsibility of the consumer does not end at the recycling box...ask for less packing and strip your purchases in the store -this way the supermarkets will be asking for less packages..consequence is better for the enviroment..even recycling paer and plastics is-- toxic

I know where most of the recycling goes we once opened a recycling center & we took our stuff to many of the places that used them .. glass to Clarion, Pa but the steel cans went to Pittsburgh but where they went from there I don't know.. newspaper went to Erie for insulation & al. cans went to another plant.. plastics I have no idea.. but people need to be more recycle aware.. they don't care & alot of garbage goes in the reclycle bins.. & that is such a waste for the Recycling Centers..
