Rebutting misleading claims by the NYT that Obamacare is in some way a conservative program.

From the article:

“Forcible” repatriation is hardly conservative. And the notion Kleinke peddles that Obamacare isn’t a “government takeover” is laughable, since many coverage and benefit details are to be established from central control within the bowels of the federal bureaucracy–taking up perhaps tens of thousands of pages in the Federal Register. Yea, that sure seems like limited government to me!

Beyond that, consider the following:

* Obamacare established the quasi sovereign super bureaucracy called the Independent Payment Advisory Board, that doesn’t advise, but imposes its fiscal prescription into law–even over a presidential veto. That isn’t conservative.

* Obamacare has already been harnessed by the administration to attack freedom of religion–reducing it to a restricted “freedom of worship”–as it seeks to force dissenting (non houses of worship) religious institutions to violate their faith dogmas under the “Free Birth Control Rule.” That’s not conservative, and mark my words, if Obamacare stands, someday there will be a Free Abortion Rule.

* Obamacare also seeks to destroy freedom of religion in the operation of businesses, by claiming in a legal brief that seeking profit is an inherently secular activity, and hence, there is no right to the free exercise of religion in the entrepreneurial or corporate context. That isn’t conservative either.

It may not be conservative, but it is certainly a windfall for the insurance companies. So, conservative or liberal, it is at least pro-corporate, and that is why Robert's court didn't shoot it down.

it's certainly not 'conservative', it's Communist! Ditch PPACA - and Romneycare too, get government out of our healthcare!

Obamacare is hardly anything you make it out to be and without the 96 wingnut amendments would be the best thing that ever happened to you. God, there are some incredibly stupid people here.

Good ol' Mittens and his 27 outright lies in 38 minutes. You really support the biggest scumbag to ever run for president?

It is important to note that one thing in ACA that has given the Repug/Tea Bagged/Conservatives foam at the mouth fits is the 'individual mandate', which spin it all you want was created by the Conservative Repugs in the 1990 health-care fight as their defense against 'employer mandates' and that is a fact. Then there is the always present conservative/libertarian affliction of' constipation of the brain concurrent with diarrhea of the mouth'. Communism is a form of government not an economic system, the system that they love to attack is great evil of socialism, particularly 'The Anti-Christ Redistribution' upon which , like it or not, the USA was founded and continues to function. The funding of the US Military with tax dollars, regardless of its necessity and patriotism, is socialist redistribution, as are roads, damns like Hoover, air traffic control and safety, food safety, clean water, safe air, education, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, law enforcement, the legal and prison system, border security.... Nearly everything that Americans depend on in their daily lives is in part or entirely the product of socialist redistribution of wealth and resources for the common good. You know "Life, liberty, the pursuit of Happiness, and the common good that was written by a bunch of violent revolutionaries.

It is truly troubling that so many Americans don't see the value of a health care systems which looks after people. It is nothing to do with freedom of choice, but just utter selfishness on the part of those that can afford it against those who can't. As people coming from countries where universal healthcare is a tenet the American attitude is baffling and soooooo prehistoric! Poor souls, just realise it is nothing to do with socialism nor communism just being humane towards your fellow citizens.
