Paradise Valley??? What paradise? If a person is is good at his/her job, why should it matter if he/she is female, male, gay, lesbian, straight, black, white,or whatever. Discrimination.

again, no new items or any other real facts except for a bias petition. frankly i'm sick of these type of things being used as facts. Put up actual news items people, then post a link to a petition.

facts are all that count, i'm not signing a petition for a person hiding behind a special interest group. bascially in this day in age i find it hard to believe that this person wouild be fired for their sexual orientation, considering it's a violation of human rights. i think there is much more going on behind this story, but with only a petition that is one sided you'll never know. frankly you could be signing a petition for a preditor.

Gladly signed. This type of thing should not occur. I'm embarassed to say I live in Arizona. Paradise Valley is a wealthy community that is located next to Scottsdale. It is home to some of the richest and most conservative (definition: intolerant) people in the state. The only thing good about Paradise Valley is the natural scenery and the fact that one of my favorite singers (Stevie Nicks) lives there part of the year.

Eileen R., and since when have GLBT people ever been given their full human rights or equal rights? discrimination does happen more often than people realize (or care to realize) and especially to people in the GLBT community. It's not right. The fact that you also used the word predator in your post is appauling. Are you insinuating that the website fro mwhich this pettion is postyed on is not reputable or are youchoosing not to sign because you think that GLBT people are sexual deviants and predatory? Either way, it'spainfully obvious to see which homophobic, intolerant, ignorant side your bread is buttered on. I truly pity you for being so pathetic.

She shouldn't have to go through this. It would suck enough just living in a main-line lunatic state like Arizona.

If she didn't engage in work-hours or public sex or rape anyone, how does her sexual preferences have any bearing whatsoever on her work? That 'board member' should be fired for homophobia, and this principal given the position if she wants it, otherwise she should be restored to her school.

Eileen R., I find it hard to believe you are unaware people are fired for their sexual orientation. While it may violate international human rights standards, America has repeatedly rejected those standards. A special interest group taking up her cause does not mean she is hiding behind them. While I would have personally worded the petition differently, it only asks for a complete investigation, and does not demand reinstatement or anything else.

Signed. Thank you, Rose. Hatred purely for the sake of hatred is a disgusting emotion that can spread vindictively through a community. Gossip and innuendo seem to be the fuel to this fire and must be stopped. Obviously, the 1%-ers have nothing better to do with their time. My kids and grandkids must have a better, peaceful, more tolerant world to grow in.

Noted and signed. Eileen R., you're kidding, right? There are bigots out there who will discriminate against anyone they don't "approve" of, whether because of their life style, or anything else they can think of. In the real world people even get fired because they're too old (i.e., over qualified.) or disabled. LGBTQ folks just happen to be a minority group that's usually singled out because they DO NOT have equal rights, and bigots find them an easy target!

Excellent comments, Robert O, James E, and Esther Z! Arizona is becoming the poster state for all things the majority of people have tried to rid this country of - Racism, Homophobia, Intolerance, and plain old HATE anything different than ones self. It is disgusting.

Eileen R., is it actually possible that you are really so ignorant that you have no idea that in many States of the United States LGBT Persons are not covered by what you call 'human rights' nor are they afforded all of the 'civil rights' you take for granted. Twenty Nine(29) US States have laws that allow termination of employment and refusal to rent to persons based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. not to mention the right to discriminate for adoptions.... Try searching 'LGBT rights in the United States' and then check out the Wikipedia maps.
I am not sure if you ever leave your house or not but you could at least check the facts for your self before spewing such totally ignorant nonsense.

Thanks Rose, Signed & noted though I do think there are more layers to the local persons that cause this.
Well, dumb me- aren't there always layers in politics, leader and gender (sometimes same) competitions? If the person is qualified and has proven those qualifications - regardless of sexual orientation - they are doing the job well and should be thanked for it.

It's OK, folks, Eileen is just a wee bit short of the curve. Anyway this war has been won; we're just getting people to understand we no longer live in the religious Dark Ages.

Way back in 1959 we had a lesbian gymn teacher. It was common knowledge that she liked girls.

She did as good a job of teaching as anyone else, far as I could see.

Signed, noted, and shared! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I feel sometimes as if Arizona is only one step away from posting "No Gays" in the same way that it used to be acceptable to post "No Coloreds" outside the doors of restaurants, shops, and other businesses.
